But as for the sleep paralysis: I'm pretty sure I did not fall asleep. I was pretty much awake all the time. Would this still be considered sleep paralysis?

I need your help!

For about 4 weeks, I have great interest in OBEs and I'm trying a lot to experiencing one. Until yesterday, I noticed interesting energy waves twice, but only very short und not very intense.

Yesterday something completely different happened. I read about the method of intensifying the high pitch sound in my ear and I tried it out:

I lay in bed, relaxing completely through breathing and not thinking about anything. Then I started to amplify this sound in my ear. It got louder and higher and at some point in time (came pretty fast) I heard a beating voice in my ear and I felt a tensing sensation in my head. My pupils began to flicker and my face began to clench. This grew stronger and stronger and I could not do anything against ist. Finally I succeeded to top the clenching and I was able to move again. I got up to recover from this experience (was kind of scary), went to the bathroom, had a glass of water and then lay down again.

As soon as I started to only think about this sensation, it started again. But this time, I was less afraid and let it all happen. Again I heard this roaring sound and my face started to clench. The rest of my body followed. I was shaking heavily all over und my legs and arms were cramping and moving uncontrollably. This time, my mouth opened and my tongue came out - more and more and I couldn't stop it.

Although the sensation wasn't quite comfortable, I "decided" that this had to be the vibrational state. I was mentally pretty clear and so I tried different ways of leaving the body. I couldn't "see" a rope or anything, but with my tongue stuck out pretty long, I just imagined that it would reach into the outer space and that I would "follow" it. Then, some great pictures of going into space followed in my mind.

All of a sudden, I could not feel the cramping anymore. Everything was calm and silent and I felt extremely light. The sensation was very nice. I felt the urge to lift my upper body and I did it with absolutely no effort. I sat in my bed, opened my eyes and everything looked absolutely "normal". First thing I thought was that I have to be out of body, but then I slowly turned around to check if "I" was still lying in my bed . But I wasn't. So I figured, I just lay back down and get back to normal (which I did). Afterwards, I got up again and thought about it. This experience was a little scary, but also very interesting.

Now here's my questions:
- Was this astral travel or spasticism?
- Does somebody of you know this uncontrollable hefty cramping?
- Should I try this again or better not?
- I do not really believe that I was actually out of body, because everything was so real. But how come it felt *so* easy to lift my upper body (without my hands)? My abs are pretty strong, but even given that, a crunch is crunch! I could only explain this with the extrem muscle tension/cramping I felt, so that this felt so light!?
- Is it possible to be out of body and *not* see the physical body? Or is it possible that I went back into my phsyical body at the moment I tried to turn - without noticing?
