The whole vocal paralysis thing is not so fun, to me. I remeber the first time i experienced it after projecting and i was so scared i just kept trying to scream but i couldnt make any noise or move. after a while you get used to it though.

I agree Astir, reincarnation/life/death seem to be what i end up thinking about whenever i try to OBE or anything. Also, I think you can go back and forth in time in the Astral and see events. AP is how Nostradamus came up with his predictions, although he didn't do it in a way that I've heard anyone else on this forum do it.

I was taught in my science class that the universe seems to be expanding b/c everything is just moving further away from each other, which is supposed to support the big bang b/c everything has that momentum outward which they can tell by light wave length or something. I'm not sure exactly b/c i didn't pay much attention in that class and it was a while ago.  :-(

Thanks mustardseed. That makes sense.  :-)

I was reading the old testament today and thought of a discussion we had in my philosophy class about the creation story and how it appears that God lies while evil (the snake tells the truth).

Genesis 2:16 "And the lord God commanded the man saying 'You may surly eat of every tree of the garden but of the tree of knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day you eat of it you shall surly die.'"

Genesis 3:4 "But the serpent said to the woman 'You will not surly die. For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil."

Gensis 3:7 "Then the eyes of both were opened, and they knew that they were naked."

Genesis 3:22 "then the Lord God said, 'Behold, the man has become like one of us in knowing good and evil. Now, lest he reach out his hand and take also of the tree of life and eat, and live forever-' therefore the Lord God sent him out from the garden of Eden to work the ground from which he was taken."

It comes across in these passages like God was lying to his creation in order to keep control over it, so that it would not become all-knowing and immortal like him. I'm not sure what to think about it. What do you guys think?

Look closer my friend..........they ( the teachings ) have EVERYTHING to do with it

I think the extremism would be the same no matter what religion lived in that region.

the majority of the world's major problems have been caused by religion. The religion of choice today is Islam. Catholics have been at blame before, as well Jews have suffered for no reason.. Religion is easily the biggest cause of war and suffering. It's just the way it is. I'm not saying all muslims are to blame, nor am I saying there are no muslims to blame. What about the comics that caused world-wide protesting? I don't go out and burn embassies because someone from their country made fun of catholicism.

Of course Islam itself isn't to blame. Neither was Catholicism during the crusades or inquisition. However, it was a major factor. You can argue if you want, but the fact is clear for the eye to see..

I think that people, countries, cultures will fight with each other for many different reasons, but most cultures have a religion that is accepted and use that as a mask or an excuse when they fight, whether it be for power, security, sovereignty, anything. The root for the conflict does not dwell in religion, but religion does make problems worse and complicates things.

As was stated before, in Islam there isn't really a separation of religion and every day life or politics as we have (mostly) in western culture. It's also important to understand that the entire culture in the middle east has a completely different mindset than western culture, which makes it hard to understand each other. Most westerners, in my opinion, see Muslim extremist as evil and the enemy while thinking western culture is completely blameless. Obviously I don't agree with extremism of anything, but it's important to see where this cult is coming from. When Israel was created it was basically the western powers taking land away from the Muslims like it didn't matter. It would be like someone from a culture u don't understand coming to ur house and kicking u out in order to give ur house to someone else on the grounds they they r oppressed. Wouldn't Americans get mad if the Muslims were able to take Florida and make it a separate, Jewish country? We would be equally angry, if not more. Then add to that the fact they are not allowed privileges that other western countries have. For example, we will not allow Iran to use nuclear energy even though it's not actually possible to take nuclear energy plants and make nukes. It's not like making nuclear weapons is an easy process. It would appear to most Muslim culture that westerners are threatening their sovereignty because they have a different paradigm that we can't understand, which makes us uneasy. That is what makes Islamic extremism so popular. It's them standing up for their sovereignty we've stomped all over and since Islam is so intertwined in politics and every aspect of life in middle eastern culture, it's easy to blame the religion while the teachings of Islam really don't have much to do with the political upheaval.

It would be kinda cool if there was life on other planets and we could be reincarnated there sometimes and earth sometimes. I've never heard anything about that so it probably can't happen, but it would be pretty sweet.

I think a lot of westerners see karma the way they show it in things like the TV show "My Name is Earl" which is why i never like the idea of karma b/c if u get put into a life as a form of punishment then u might not be getting put into the life that will teach u the most and let u grow spiritually. It makes much more sense to think of it the way quester described it, as neutral. I think that's awesome and I had never heard that before, but then again I never really read much on it.

That is a really cool thing to think about and it does explain a lot, but why would our souls need our human bodies to survive?

I don't know about being a vegetarian. The first time i tried it i lost a bunch of weight, which was good b/c i needed to and then i tried the raw vegan thing and it made me sick so i ate meat for a while and then decided to go vegetarian again which made me gain back weight, which was not good. I don't know why b/c i ate the exact same things both times.

I totally agree with cavernstoy about the shwag thing. I usually only smoke chronic and everything's usually okay, but i have noticed that if i go a couple weeks in a row smoking every day i get a little bit slow, but it goes away after a couple days. Smoking too much is bad though, like my boyfriend smokes a lot b/c he can not deal with his problems @ all, so i think it makes his depression worse by allowing him to not deal with anything he is feeling, and now he feels like he has to smoke, which he doesn't like. He's also gotten into acid b/c he's getting bored with pot.

I've never heard any sounds, but i used to get the hardcore vibrations before i knew astral projection existed, and i still do @ night if i try to project, but i never can. I can in the afternoons after a nap or in the mornings, but i don't feel vibrations @ times when i actually project.

Hi, Im 17 and live in colorado. I've always had really strong dreams and purposefully had a lucid dream for the first time in like, 2nd grade. I can lucid dream whenever i want to, but i'm bad @ astral projection b/c the only time i can do it is in the afternoon or morning when i've been asleep for a while. The only time i really did it was when i was a raw vegan and i don't know if that had anything to do with it. I hope to get better though b/c i know i can prolly do it if i put a little effort into it.
