I agree about giving credit to those that help you on a journey (and credit to yourself). I did that a lot in college. Totally agreed. It's when the individual gets caught up to the person to the point it's a god-like following. It happens a lot especially within metaphysics.  That's why I mentioned Thomas Yuscak. When his book on lucid dreaming supplements came out it in December 2006 it was like the bible to lucid dreaming was just sent down from heaven itself. LDers were going nuts with it as the supplements and supplements cocktails mentioned were believed (and in many ways do) cause and easy lucid dream. His website was up for about two years prior with pdf articles he wrote, and subject test charts using Galantamine. Then TY disappeared a few weeks after the book was released, and never was seen or heard from again to this day. His webpage went down, he wouldn't return emails, and he just vanished. I didn't know him, and at the time wasn't interested in supplements.  I didn't even read the book into this year but people were like going nuts over him. I hate when newbie LD/APers whom think I'm also a newbie tell me "I don't or do it because it says so in Yuscak book" or "read Yuscaks book" . The book was well written, as was his articles, and he was an engineer.  But now the book is outdated (as with science and medicine the results, studies, research, tests can show changes or new findings so other volumes or updates needed such as any long term affects using Galantamine as a LD supplement), but it was pretty bit hit when it first came out.  No one knows why he disappeared after that book was released. Scott Stride another one involved with lucid dreaming and supplements (youtube videos called "LDS Tutorials", and helped TY with his book) also vanished around 2008 abandoning his accounts. Odd...maybe it's a government conspiracy haha just kidding. Or maybe they just don't want the over attention and following or headaches of hearing "but it didn't work for me".

Wow, very mysterious! Thanks for a great reply. I'd guess that such people just get frustrated with the attention. I had wondered why FK disappeared and thought perhaps he had too much of a cult like following. Maybe an astral friend advised them to back away and let others work it out for themselves. That's what I like to think anyway  :-)

Fair comments. No surprise that he had a following as his info is so good. I'm certainly not going to get caught up with any individuals, I am aware that this must be my own path. FK is just another name on my journey. I just think there is so much rubbish about that its good to point people towards good information as much as possible.

The posts by Frank are without doubt the best resource for me personally that I have come across in what must now be 2 years of OBE awareness and research. I must have read 1000 of his posts in one week.

This site has a lot of Franks stuff, which I've just realised belongs to Xanth who is a mod on here I think. Thanks to him and whoever else has been involved for the efforts to gather all of Franks posts and other information. Really, really helpful site.

Franks approach to this whole phenomenon will suit anyone who just doesn't get along with mystical terminology and the like. It's a no nonsense engineers approach as I see it.

Despite spending £200+ on the Monroe gateway CD's, I no longer use them at the moment and have more success by simply intending to move my focal point of awareness to the correct place in my mind.

I lay down to go to sleep on Monday and decided to give it a go. Without thinking about my body at all, I simply focused on relaxing my brain, imagining hands massaging it, and a path opening up to the Astral, that's all I did and just waited. This really is a good technique as it takes you away from your body naturally as you focus on your mind. Within about 10 minutes, I was feeling a pull, a bit like I was ready to be catapulted off somewhere but with an elastic band just holding me back. I let things continue to happen and had the very clear sensation of what can only be the 3D blackness pulling itself around me. Boom! I was there and I KNOW it! :-D I got a bit nervous if I'm honest and shook myself back to physical awareness pretty quickly while kind of half pretending I needed to note it down, but in reality I'm just scared to go for it. Next time it's on!

Hi All,

I am still very much an OBE beginner and wanted to get some information on the early stages and how people concentrate.

I use TMI's Wave 1 (Focus 10 - Mind Awake Body Asleep) as a development tool on occasion, but mostly I experiment when I go to bed at night and if/when I wake up during the night. A technique that seems to help me in some way is one I've come across plenty of times, about concentrating upon a point in front of your closed eyes a couple of feet in front of you. Doing this almost always results in some random but incredibly vivid images which to me is a fascinating experience in itself. I almost concentrate as if I am viewing a magic eye book, I hope you can understand what I mean as I can't describe it any other way. This creates a very slight stress between my eyes as I concentrate, which I think might be what prevents me from going further as this part of my body is not asleep as it needs to be. It certainly seems to help me concentrate, but the vibrations I get at this stage are noticeably slow and I am yet to successfully speed them up.

All of my exit experiences have either been spontaneous and unexpected, or have happened without intention and without the concentration. Typically I'll lie down to go to sleep, noting to myself that I'd just like to fall asleep. I then usually can't help but notice the process and usually click out around that time I think, but on occasion I exit or get very intense vibrations. I often float upwards for a few seconds then I lose it, once around the room which was more like a dream, and once it just felt like I was shooting at 100mph to the stars which was very strange! The only visual OBE was in my room, when I turned back expecting to see my body, but instead the covers were moved off bed as if I was just sleep walking or something, incredibly strange, I guess it could simply be a dream about having an OBE. The last thing I recall is trying to head towards to window! Apart from that the memories I have are simply of the feeling of floating in the blackness, which I have often.

So basically I want to start gaining some control of these experiences. It's like my mind is playing games with me as I get the best results when I don't want it and I don't seem to be in control! Can anyone relate to the magic eye thing? Do I need to concentrate in this way or just relax my eyes completely?

Hi All,

I have been slowly working through the Monroe Gateway tapes as my development tool. For the last week though, I have been somewhat preoccupied and haven't listened to a tape.

So last night I hit the pillow feeling pretty tired after a long day. The fear still gets in the way and I'm very much in the early stages, so decided I did not want an experience. When I'm not in the mood I ask with intent to pass straight through to sleep. Usually this works but last night I could just feel that whatever I did something was going to happen. The more I thought about it the stronger the feeling got, so eventually I just went with it. Vibrations were on overdrive and I felt parts of my body, definitely an arm at one point, floating up at different times before I would purposely snap back to my body. Eventually I just went out completely and was floating a bit with a weird sense of excitement, then gradually turned over to face the bed whilst still sort of still in-line with my body. I could vaguely see a black point (darker than the rest of the blackness) in front of me, but nothing else. I then felt the most tremendous surge of energy, but it would almost stutter like and engine running out of fuel. Has anyone experienced this? I assume I need to keep this going?

The surge calmed down, but I was still floating. I then thought about what I should do. This is the first time I have had this much control over the experience, and have never travelled anywhere from this state while conscious in this way. I randomly decided I should think of somewhere to try and go and chose to see my Mother, about 70 miles away. The surge came on again, but I don't remember from there.

Thanks for the suggestions and advice!

Hi All  :-)

After a confusing spontaneous experience set me on my way, I have spent the last couple of years reading and researching into everything OBE. Robert Monroe's books still resonate with me the most, and they were the first I came across. I tried his techniques, have tried many other methods and had little bits of success here and there. So recently I decided that it was time to get down to some serious development, and I purchased Monroe's Gateway Waves 1-6. I am impressed at how easy I can get into Focus 10, and if in the right frame of mind, I can do it sitting down on the sofa with no hemisync! I'm taking it slowly, as I feel that only a handful of times per week do I have the time without possible interruption. I'm yet to move on to Wave 2 and Focus 12, but I will soon. I was just hoping to share some problems and hopefully get some responses from people who have also used RM's Gateway CD's. Any tips or suggestions would be appreciated.

I sometimes have trouble with my Energy Conversion Box. It's Wooden and like something out of Game Of Thrones. Has a black felt like lining inside. I don't know why. Initially there was no problem and I would visualise putting a black ball inside containing all my random worries, and whatever else, for example a tax bill I had recently, or some deadline that was close. I would then visualise shutting the box and fastening it shut with two brace type things and a piece of wood through two holes. Anyway, my mind seems to mess about with me, and before I can shut it, I think of the ball shooting out of the box. So I visualised 4 'Knights of the Realm' to hold it down and initially this worked, but then they weren't strong enough. I now have an elephant to hold it down as well, and this did work the last time I tried and I visualised myself turning and walking away form the box. Obviously this sounds a bit ridiculous, but sometimes it prevents me from moving on with the exercise. Any tips to stop this silly little mental blockage?

And any further suggestions or tips to help me move forward would be great. How long do people train on each Wave?

Tom
