Welcome to Metaphysics! / I WANT TO BELIEVE
May 28, 2003, 14:55:13
Hello all,

I posted this recently on another board on the internet, but I don't think many people go there. So I thought I would post it here too and see what you ideas you might have.

I have always been interested in the paranormal. I know many of you will say the 'paranormal' is actually very normal, but let me just use this word for lack of a better one.
I have also always linked evidence of the paranormal with spirituality in general...life after death, spirits, guides, ghosts etc...

I usually believe people who talk about their experiences in books, in person or on boards like this one. I have no reason not to.
But here is the problem: I have never experienced anything that shows me there is more to this world than the physical for myself.

Remember the X-Files? I think there was a poster in Mulder's office that read:
"I WANT TO BELIEVE"

That is me. I want to believe, but I have no reason to other than what is on TV, the internet and written in New Age books.
And believe me I have 'prayed' for some sort of sign or tangible proof of some kind that would show me, irrefutably, that there is more than the physical. Lots of people experience these things, I haven't.

You could say "Go on Faith" but anyone from really enlightened people to homocidal madmen could say something like that.

What to do? Without a real experience of some kind I am just left to believe millionaire New Age authors!

It certainly is frustrating. No one wants to pursue something that never shows evidence of its existence.

Hello everyone,

First, I have never had a conscious out-of-body experience, but I am trying.

Last night I went to bed and played a brainwave generator knock-off of Monroe's F23 (or some high number like that) from the Hemi-Sync program. If you don't know what that is, it is just binaural beats (brain entrainment). So anyway, after a while I apparently drifted off but was startled to consciousness by a voice in my right ear saying something like "uh-uh-UH!" like a mother would say to her child in a semi-scolding manner.

I opened my eyes and realized my whole body was experiencing some kind of pulse...it wasn't just my heart either. But I tried not to be scared and just let the sensations fill me. They started to subside immediately, but something in my knuckles was trying to get out or pull my hands up, as if my bones were trying to escape my flesh.

The voices are normal for me as I drift off to sleep, but the pulsing was brand new, and gave me some encouragement. I might actually be on the right path to leaving the body!

Hi all,

I have some questions about your experiences/thoughts on exploring the physical universe and time. I know most of the talk here is about exploring the astral realm (and other higher places) of imagery, symbolism and entities, but I have a strong interest in the physical realm too.

I tried to do a search but the function does not work for me, so forgive me if this has already been discussed at length before.

Specifically, I am interested in voyaging to other planets out there, viewing other life forms living in the physical elsewhere in the universe. I am also interested in travelling back into the past of our own Earth...seeing long dead civilizations etc.

I am not sure if many others are interested in this sort of thing. I am interested in the higher forms of consciousness and reality also, but to me this sort of physical realm exploration is important (perhaps only at the beginning of astral pursuits). I guess I just need to get it out of my system.

So, do you know of any posts, websites specifically about this more mundane type of travel?

I haven't been to this forum (partly due to its extreme bugginess) in a long time. I just returned and found I still can't go from one page of a multi-page thread to the next. Today, amazingly, it is allowing me to reply so I am not experiencing your problem. No one has ever been able to explain why all this happens. I am a member of other online forums and they work just fine. It is really a shame for R Bruce to spend money keeping this system up and running when it doesn't work normally for at least some people. Maybe the other forums I go to just have better software. I don't know.

Welcome to Metaphysics! / May15th Pole Shift
July 07, 2003, 14:35:06
Did you notice the excuses that started popping up when the pole shift did not occur on May 15th? They started saying something about May 22nd, and someone else said I was too "literal". Well a date is a date, whoever made the prediction was pretty darn literal if they came up with a date. Perhaps they were too "literal".

Anyway, May passed and so has June. No pole shift.

Prophecy is very seductive. If anyone can really do it then they are surely in a minority. Just look at all that was predicted before 2000 and never came to pass.

And if the world really has ended and we just haven't noticed then why even worry about predictions in the first place?

I think it is possible to predict the future in theory, but I think probably 95% of those who think they can-can't. I base this opinion on all the failed predictions we all read about all over the place.

You know, Monroe's books are very inspiring. But I have trouble believing a lot of his stories. I get the impression he was really into himself and his made-up vocabulary, and I think he wanted to impress people. And his sexual references (always male oddly) were more than annoying. From that impression comes my idea that he had a runaway imagination. It is just an idea.

His books will definitely inspire you.

It seems everyone is assuming that the astral world (or any other world) would be made of the particles we know, photons, neutrons, electrons etc., just going at a higher rate.

This would seem to mean that if these particles could slowed down from their incredibly fast vibrations then we would be able to experience them (or maybe our scientists could).

What if the "astral" or even consciousness was made of something that is not like any form of matter we know. Maybe it is not matter at all but something different. Then it would not help us to know if it has a frequency or not.

Compressed Ki is visible to the naked eye? Really? Can you prove that? I know a kid (may 13 years old) on this board posted some .avi's or something a while back, but there was nothing on them convincing. I think it is important not to confuse reality with video games, as seductive as they might be. When is the last time anyone has had a real fight with Psi balls?

I would be open to Ki being visible with auric vision, assuming both exist, but I have yet to see any proof that they can be seen with the naked eye. Maybe they can, but do you just believe this or do you *know* it??

Hey OBE,

Can anyone tell you how to do it? Well maybe but not here in a reply. I would suggest you go www.astraldynamics.com or www.astralpulse.com (they are the same) and go to Robert Bruce's Treatise on OOBE's. It is there on the first page just a little ways down. I think a lot of people on this board have Bruce's "Astral Dynamics" book which will give you more information. I don't think any of this is crucial, but it certainly would be informing at the least. So try it out.

There is also more information that what I have mentioned on the first page of the site, plus tons of stuff in the forums.

You know, all this "clicking the amygdala forward" talk reminded me of Pete Sanders' stuff about the "Joy Center" of the brain. This was also about stimulating the center of the head with imagery. But I believe in his case he thinks he is stimulating the pineal gland. I wonder if it is all the same thing.

If you don't believe yourself and try to rely on other people you won't get anywhere. Decide for yourself now or give up.

Wow, it seems you are often in a bad mood, aren't you FT? I noticed that with some other posts of yours. I am not aware that I let science blind me. Did I even mention science at all? I do do NEW actually. I am also a Reiki II. That is how unimpressed I am with "energy". I have not given up and will "keep on keepin' on" as they say. I particulary like Robert Bruce's idea of total deconstruction of your beliefs (found in the Catch Basket article) down to what you have actually experienced and know.

Of course, this will leave me with zero since I have not experienced or seen anyone else experience anything at all, but it is a beginning and good advice.

I believe you Allanon about these psychoactive chemicals leading to these experiences.

But how do you know that they are 'opening' up new perceptions or are just causing a hallucination?
That is the problem with chemicals (drugs) of all kinds.

I would never say never, but I would prefer to get to these higher states (assuming they exist at all) on my own.

Allanon, I am not much into the drug thing anymore. I am 32 now ya know! When I was in my early 20's drugs were, of course, cool. But, alas, they just aren't anymore.
Besides, I don't live in the Southwest, I live on the Gulf Coast.

The person before Allanon (that post doesn't show up on this REPLY screen) had a good point that maybe the journey to something like telekinesis is more important than the actual ability. That assumes telekinesis is real (I have no reason to think it is or is not) but I think you are right.

That is impressive that you had an OBE in the first week.

I have had his book for a while now. Nothing that can clearly be called an OBE has happened. I did, however, have an experience that seemed to go along with the descriptions of the vibrational stage.

I like NEW, I just don't know if it is my imagination or not.

Hi,

Yeah I have been a reader of this site for a long time. But no, I have not had any of those experiences that I am aware of. I did not mention OBE's or LD's in my post because this is the "General Metaphysics" forum and I was speaking generally.

But if I had an OBE that would be the proof (enough for me) that there is indeed more than the physical.

Yes, I know what you are talking about Seeker.

Usually they are pretty young people and the usual spiel is:

"I have a feeling I am the Chosen One!" and other things like that.

I don't think it is particularly harmful to the rest of us though. Eventually they will learn that they are not, in fact, chosen by anyone most likely. They are not, in fact, anymore special than anyone else.

It is probably just a stage in human development (psychologically speaking). It can be really tough being an adolescent as I remember.

This is the precise reason why "endtimes" and pseudo-apocalyptic prophecies should never be believed. Where is the pole shift?

Hey people,

I assume that this was a joke :)

if I remember my High School Chemistry class correctly (1987) K is Potassium and I is Iodine on the Periodic Table...therefore having nothing to do with ki/chi.

hey,

yeah, I have seen the people too...they sort of form from the colors you see in the eyes. What I saw was in extreme detail but only lasted a second or two...also the colors of the scene were limited to the colors that you see with the eyes closed. I could see people talking to each other.

Once, I saw a small crowd of people standing around talking and this one person walked around them and right up to me. He opened his mouth and eyes and it was pure silver inside them. Then it was over. I have no idea what could cause this...but the detail is amazing when it happens.

hi Ms American Pie,

Well you cannot be crazy if these premonitions or visions are coming true! You are really on to something if they are verifiable. But I would agree with those that say be careful. You gave a very telling clue when you said that this thing you call God mentioned the Messiah. This is clearly a Judaeo-Christian idea not shared by many, many people in the world. Assuming this being to be real, I would say it pulled that right out of your memories and expectations.

Or maybe you opened up to the information of the future yourself with no help from anyone or anything out there. With enough of these experiences I bet you will able to figure out if they are coming from any particular godly or angelic being or not.

You have just had an experience, a way to really figure some things out. If everything you say is true, then you should feel really lucky and take this opportunity to expand! Most people, including myself, just write their opinions on these subjects based on what they have read in New Age books, with no direct experience or knowledge. You are lucky!

hi there,

I don't think it is particularly suspicious that they choose their own names to go into their institutes' names, but I do see what you mean.

Robert Monroe was completely into his own self. If you have read his books you can clearly see how important he thought he was...a sort of messiah to the numerous members of his soul cluster, blah blah blah. So it is no surprise that he named his institute the Monroe Institute. But he was surely inspiring despite the ego stuff.

But 'Bruce' is such an unremarkable name (so is MY surname, by the way!) that I am surprised he is going to use just "Bruce Institute". Surely there would be something better than just that. I suspect he is just copying Monroe, thinking he needs to be on the same "level" as people put Monroe.

Well, hey, if that works for him so be it.

Hi,

I think that these "negs" you and Robert Bruce talk about are probably real...but their interaction with people seems to lack consistency. Before Robert Bruce there was, as we all probably know, Robert Monroe exploring and writing about this stuff (OBE's). I have 2 of his books and he was not overly interested in this kind of thing. Robert Bruce seems to have had enough experience with negs to write a book about protection, but plenty of other people have little or no problem with them. This leaves me to think it does really depend on the individual...and this might go for all experiences with negative spirits in general.

I only know about negative spirits from books, TV, movies and forums like this one, not from direct experience. And I see that plenty of writers don't worry too much about them at all. I think people who dedicate so much energy in writing books about them create a kind of light hysteria among their avid readers.

Now, having said all that, I am going to check under my bed tonight!

I think we should remember the old saying about the 7 deadly sins, there is not just one...so I don't think Bush wants war with Iraq just for oil. That is a simplistic way of looking at it. There is also a lot of pride and desire for revenge...remember that Iraq (or its sympathizers) arranged to assasinate George Bush Sr. on a visit to Kuwait but failed.

But the pro-war people also use really simplistic arguments and ways to stir up and scare people. I suggest we not be fooled by either side.

I want to see Hussein gone and I want to arab leaders to tremble in their shoes when/if they see a democracy rise up in another arab country. I just hope the Iraqi's take care of it themselves.

Say, has anyone who actually *can* consciously astral project ever thought of visiting Saddam Hussein in the astral? Sure, it sounds crazy, but so do OBE's in general on first glance. Maybe enough people visiting him in his dreams could make bombs irrelevant.

I swear I am not drunk, maybe just a slight bit loony with this idea.

hey there,

yeah i have synesthesia too, the alphabet has always had colors and numbers do too, usually very specific. this has often helped me memorize phone numbers and spellings...i just remember the color of the numbers! i also see sounds sometimes, usually sort sounds are the ones that cause a swirling image in my head.

synesthesia is just when the brain sort of cross-references 2 or more of the senses. i have found that sometimes this is not a good thing when i work on developing intuition because of all the associations i have in my head with things.

for example, sometimes i work trying to figure out (intuit) the first word of a page of a book just by first thinking of the number of the page.

well, this is not easy, because if i am going to check on page 159, i start associating the colors of the page number (1=white, 5=black, 9=red) with an outcome...and since letters also have color for me, i start expecting letters to pop up with those colors too. too many subjective associations to be objective!

but i am sure that there is something positive that come out of this sensory confusion we have. i would be interested in knowing what others think, if they have it.

PS, synesthesia isn't just color and sound stuff like i have, some people have associations of smell or taste with sounds!
