I know you weren't. I guess I was just wondering why you thought 'attacking out of a reflex action' was natural. That's all! Have a peaceful Christmas and a New Year.

Yeah, that sounds like good advice. It occurred to me this morning upon waking, that this would be a good time to try and project. After a good night's sleep and before you have moved your physical body, concentrate on just 'noticing' the internal hum or buzz, just as Nickspry says above. Your body is completely relaxed and you will not have to worry about all the relaxation exercises as you should just be able to slip into a semi-trance like state with ease. I did it this morning, only I fell back to sleep! The only problem with this is that you need to stay mentally alert  (which I didn't) but then I think NickSpry's idea of focussing on and bouncing back and forth the internal buzz may work well for this purpose. I will give it a try tomorrow.....

I don't agree with the notion of 'natural reflexes' as a justification for wanting to attack. You seem to suggest that you wanted to attack this 'being' simply because it was there as it certainly did not threaten you or do anything to make you feel that you were in danger. In instances where you do feel threatened by the malevolence of any entity you encounter, I think a far more productive way of dealing with the threat is to project a beam of pure unconditional love - dissipate the 'malevolence' in pure goodness. Apart from anything else, don't forget the universal law of like attracts like. If you radiate love, then so to will you attract it. I would not want to be in the astral having negative or aggressive thoughts or acting in such a manner, as you will attract like minded others to you. The most natural state for a human being is one of love. This is what we were created from and is what we will all ultimately return to. Kindness and love are far more effective 'weapons' and they are not harmful to you either!

I like this way of looking at it. In physical reality we look at things in relation to distance between them. We can then (if we are not careful) apply the same logic to the notion on astral planes - that is, one being further from the other, etc. Thinking of the traditional notion of astral planes as different vibrational states instead of different places in relation to one another makes much more sense and fits with everything we know about vibrational energy. It is all incredibly interesting!!!

Hi, thanks for that. Very helpful, although I went back and read the phasing article again as I obviously missed the answer myself when I read it the first time! Duh!

I have reached the vibrational state twice, perhaps in 20 (albeit not continually focussed) years!! I believe Alestair Crowley coined the phrase "will-less will" which roughly translated means, focused concentration but with a complete lack of desire. I think the harder you try and the more desperate you are to project, the less chance there is of it happening. Relax and adopt a carelessness of attitude and results should come. I have recently found these forums and so have reignited my interest in the whole topic. These forums are great! Just ordered a copy of the ultimate reality from Amazon - can't wait to read it!!

Welcome to Astral Consciousness! / A big question??
December 23, 2008, 05:41:12
I have been interested (perhaps even consumed) by the notion of astral projection, and in more recent years, have read books by Jane Roberts, the Conversations with God books, Depak Chopra and others, and have come to the conclusions that I read about yesterday in the link to Frank Keppels Phasing idea. It was fantastic to read a theory that seemed to amalgamate everything I already suspected was true. But, I kind of liked the idea that astral projection was the actual physical projection of the astral body into the astral plane!! To discover that this doesn't actually happen is a little disappointing...

The phasing idea, although new to me, makes alot of sense. However, how come so many of the astral projection techniques I grew up with rely on the actual separation of the astral body? Furthermore, a lot of people unfamiliar with astral projection (but who have spontaneous oobe's) recordd having seen their physical body. The classic scenario being that they are floating above it. If we don't actually physically leave it, how can this be explained?

This has left me a little perplexed. Answers would be appreciated...
