I have had an interest in healing and reiki for about a year now but have never really pursued it seriously and with any real dedication. However, in the last few months I talked to two psychic mediums who independently told me that I have alot of energy in my hands and that I should pursue something like reiki and learn to help others with healing. One even told me she saw alot of the color green in my right hand which indicated to her a propensity for being able to "comfort and heal" others. Knowing all this now, I would like to pursue healing and/or reiki with more dedication and intent and  develop the abilities that I supposedly possess. Can anyone giveme any advice on where I should go from here and how I should begin the process? Thank you

I posted about a month ago on how I was having frequent episodes of sleep paralysis. Since then it seems to be getting even more frequent. Usually 3-4 nights per week. I have not projected during any of these episodes of paralysis. I usually get freaked out and try to will myself to wake up. The one time I remeber trying to project during an episode, I was unsuccesful but I remember having a euphoric sort of feeling, almost dizzying to some extent. I'm just wondering why I'm having all the paralysis experiences when I haven't really done any OBE training or exercises recently. Any advice on what I should do at the point I'm at now? Thank you

I have trained for astral projection for the past 5 or so years with minimal success. (I haven't ever had a real experience that I can recall.) However, recently I have had alot of episodes of sleep paralysis. A few night s ago I started going into conscious sleep paralysis and eventually willed myself out of it. I did this a total of three times while trying to go to sleep. Eventually I just got up and watched TV for about an hour before going back to sleep undisturbed. I want to continue with pursuing astral projection but the sleep paralysis is difficult to deal with. Should I be trying to just let it happen and attempt projection from sleep paralysis or should I take different steps. I do feel like I have made alot progress over the years and I certainly don't want to hinder myself now.

I have been working with energy for almost two months now. I do several chakra exercises including some fron NEW. I try to cleanse, balance, and strengthen the chakras and I practice reiki. My concern is that I am unable to sense the energy I am working with. I do not feel any vibrations or other sensations in the chakras or any other part of my body. I have no desire to play with energy like making ki balls or trying to entertain myself with it. It's just that I feel like the fact that I can't sense it means that I am making slow progress and/or I've been doing something wrong. Does anyone have any advice on how I can start making progress? Are there any exercises that are more effective than most others? Thank you.

I have recently taken an interest in vibrational energy, particularly the use of gem elixirs and flower essences. I have been using an amethyst and rose quartz elixir for a few days but haven't noticed any energetic changes yet. Has anyone ever used these elixirs and what kind of things did you notice from taking them?

I was reading in another thread and someone mentioned that in energy work they could not move energy beyond the groin area. I have this problem as well. I cleanse and balance all my chakras before going through the visualizations moving from the root chakra up to the crown. I can really feel the sensations of energy in my root chakra and sacral chakra. Above that there are no sensations of energy. Does anyone know where this energy blockage is likely occuring and what factors might be contributing to it? Thanks

My parents often remind me that when I was very little I had two "imaginary friends": Peatock and Ceyton(of course I'm not sure of the spelling since I only knew the names as a child). I have no idea where those names came from either.[:)] I have often wondered if they were just figments of my imagination or if they were real beings in some sense. The subject has always fascinated me though. Anyone else have "imaginary friends" during childhood? Do you think they were imaginary or real?

I'm currently getting kundalini reiki attunements(distance) every four days. I have been reading up on reiki and attunements but I still do not understand how it all works. I'm just wondering what I should expect throughout the attunements. Do you usually feel any kind of difference in energy and the chakras right away?

I am very new to using healing techniques such as Reiki and have just recently started studying it. I would like to try using some kind of healing method to get rid of anxiety. I have seen it mentioned that reiki and other methods can be used for this but have not found any details or in-depth information. Can someone tell me how I might be able to go about doing this? Thanks very much.

This morning I woke up around 3AM and for the first time in ages I remembered to take advantage of the hypnagogic state and attempt projection. I was unable to project but I did get very close I believe. I started hearing the sound of wind like the sound of 40-50 mile per hour wind hitting a moving car. I have a small fan next to the bed but it doesn't sound anything like that. I thought maybe the sound was intensely amplified due to being in that state of mind. Has anyone experienced anything like this?

Of all the dreams I can consciously recall, I have never encountered anyone who has passed on. I have always hoped that I would dream of my stepfather and my two dogs, as I consider them the most significant people(and dogs:) in my life. However, of the 10 or so people who I was close to and who passed on, I do not recall ever dreaming of them. Just wondering if anyone knows why this might be and if others have had a similar lack of people in dreams.

After reading the thread about the BCC documentary I'm curious to know what people's thought about evolution are. I know Francis Crick, Richard Dawkins, Daniel Dennett and other evolutionists have tried to use evolution to promote atheism and disprove ideas like soul, mysticism, etc. Although once an evolutionsist and atheist, I no longer believe in evolutionary theory. The mathematical impossibility, the anthropic principle, and the like have led me to believe that the world is not the result of random chance or a "blind watchmaker" as dawkins likes to call it. On the other hand I don't believe in religious explanations either. Just curious to know what others think about all this?

I have always had some interest in people like John Edward, Sylvia Browne, and James Van Praagh, to name a few of the most notable "mediums." However, the more I learn of these people the less respect I have for them. I went to Sylvia Browne's website and I ordered the free sample of her quarterly newsletter thinking it may be worth reading. How wrong I was. There was just a few lousy pages with one worthlesss article, a seminar schedule, info about trips/cruises she organizes, and info about ordering her book/audio products. The newsletter costs $29.95 per year. John Edward has a similar newsletter for about the same price. I have never been impressed with them when I have seen them on shows like Larry King(especially John Edward.) I lean toward believing that these mediums are complete frauds and/or at the least are greedy, grabbing hands who are concerned with little more than making money. These mediums usually charge around $750 for a 30 minute reading which very few people can afford. As much as I would like to believe that there are people who can make contact with the spirit world, these shady figures make it difficult to believe.

I saw this story on a news show this morning and thought it was pretty amazing. They interviewed the state trooper and a family member. According to the sister of the man who was killed, the child said that her parents went away but came back to help her. I forgot the exact words the toddler used but it did sound like her parents assisted her from the other side in surviving this.

This is not an experience that has anything to do with OBE but I thought maybe someone could shed some light on it. It happened about 4 or 5 years ago when I was meditating fairly regularly. One day I was meditating before I had to go back to school and I either fell asleep or went into trance. I'm not sure which really. But when I awoke from it(after about 20 minutes), I felt a really strange sense of peace like I had never experienced before. I was totally content, free from negative thought, and at peace. It was almost a feeling of nirvana. That feeling lasted for the rest of the day but diminished the next day and I was quickly back to my same old self(negative, anxious, skeptical, etc.) I've never been able to figure out what happened or why it happened. Nonetheless, I've never been able to experience that again despite further meditation practice. Can anyone shed any light on this? Thanks.

I have often heard of other astral projectors helping to pull you out of your physical body and of non-physical entities assisting you in exiting. Can someone explain this to me and how you can go about using this method? I have a friend who astral projects regularly but I had never thought of seeking his help for my own attempts. Thanks.

I have had three OBE experiences although one was more like a lucid dream. As much as I want to believe that I was leaving my body and exploring astral realms or just floating in the real-time zone, I still find myself questioning everything. I want to believe that these were genuine spiritual experiences but I often start thinking that maybe they were just physiological experiences. I remember reading the book Lucid Dreaming and Laberge saying that the astral body was just the brain's limited representation of the physical body. Just wondering does anyone else ever have these doubts and how do you prove to yourself that they are real projections, not just maifestations of brain activity.

I've been trying OBE every night recently and until last night I have had no success with it. I laid down sometime around 10:30 and started progressive relaxation and then did a few techniques (chakra meditation, ROPE, and visualization) After about 10 minutes I quit and started repeating affirmations, I must have repeated them in my head at least 100 times. Next thing I know I found myself in a deep trance state and I started trying to project. I was never able to do what I planned, to float over my body. Instead I found myself flying through space, then flying over an ocean that quickly turned into a bright neon colored water with large waves rising. It almost looked like the color of volcanic ash with a bit more purple color to it. I started waking up but I felt so tired that I couldn't even hold my head up(or either this was part of a dream if this was one) I consciously experienced myself in the process of falling asleep which I never have before. I went right back into a trance and next thing I remember I started hearing a beeping noise. I thought it might be my alarm so I reached over to turn it off. I struggled to move my arm across the table as if fighting the sleep paralysis. I turned it off and then on again realizing that that was not the noise(when I later woke up I realized that I had never even touched the alarm). I started struggling to wake up more and I then felt like the left half of my face was paralyzed. Finally after what seemed like a difficult struggle I was able to wake up. And I still heard the beeping noise. I went to the kitchen and my mother's new cell phone was beeping because she had somehow turned on the alarm on it. Sorry, I know this post is really inarticulate and may not make a lot of sense, but I'm trying to piece everything together and make it as coherent as possible. I'm really confused as to whether this was a real OBE or if I was lucid dreaming. As real as it seemed, it was so surreal that it makes me think it might have been a consciously controlled dream on my part. Can anyone shed any light on this experience? Thanks.

I have seen refernces on this forum to the Brainwave Generator, in particular the Vibration Starter. Is this a good tool for astral projection? I was thinking of trying either that or the Monroe tapes that many people use. Any suggestions for which tapes. music, etc. is best? Thanks.

Welcome to Out of Body Experiences! / OBE Experience

I have had what I believe is an OBE on two occasions although the skeptical side of me has always thought it could be just a very lucid dream. The first was about 7 years ago. After unsuccesfully trying to consciously project for about 30 minutes I went to bed( I had been attempting astral projection for a few weeks when this happened ). I guess I went to sleep or into trance and I found myself hovering down by the floor next to my bed. At the time I had a very tall antique bed and for some reason I coud not rise up to see myself lying in the bed. After what seemed like less than 10 seconds I went back into my body. The 2nd projection which happened about two years ago occurred under similar circumstances but I was floating near the ceiling next to a bookcase. Again it lasted only a few seconds and it seems like trying to move around caused me to reenter my body. Can anyone shed any light on this and why I was able to achieve this during sleep after attempting to consciously project? I'm not sure why but I have never been able to get out while consciously attempting to do so in a relaxed state.

Thanks for the advice. I just get freaked out by the sleep paralysis episodes and then I can't focus on trying to project. I will try to remain calm next time and see what I can do from there.

Urine therapy is effective for alot of people. It is used homeopathically. Like most homeopathic remedies the substance in the tincture you make would probably not even be found through testing. You usually start by adding one drop of urine to 100 drops of water and then repeat this process six times. It can be further diluted if necessary. Urine is loaded with toxins and when taken homeopathically it can be helpful for many problems.

I would like to hear about your experiemce with it Satchidananda.

I just noticed this topic and thought I would add a few things in case you haven't found anything that works. I started having some skin problems last year for unknown reasons. I started using calendula lotion which helps much more than any other products I have tried. You can find it in supermarkets and almost all health food stores. You might also look into using homeopathy for your husband's eczema. I know that there is a remedy that is used to treat eczema that is at its worst early in the morning and with heat.

Thanks for the feedback Jazzarati. I have felt some sensations of energy but they have been very minor. Patience is not one of my better qualities so I guess I could be expecting too much too soon. I'm going to try some new exercises and see if I can find one that really resonates with me. I have always viewed energy sensations as a sign of improvement so I keep hoping I can notice something that will keep me motivated and on the right track. Thanks again.
