... can you as individual "Projectors" If I may use the word. Know is real based on your individual experiences. And can you explain all of this to me. And also what is the concept of astral projection anyways. Projecting what? And to where? that sorta thing. I am very open minded just trying to understand...

The concept of "Phasing" may give you some insight to your questions.  Here is a resource on this board

http://www.astralpulse.com/frankkepple.html

The terms "out of body" and "projecting" lag behind our understanding as we share experiences.  So, I wouldn't get too hung up on the words.  It's not where you go but where your attention is focused.

Imagine for a moment that you have never looked up at the sky.  All you have done your whole life is look down at the ground.  One day, inexplicably, you decide to look up and realize there is a much wider world around you.  It would seem like a totally different world.  Or try hanging upside down sometime and see how different things look.  Better yet go back to looking at the world from 2 feet tall.  It looks completely different and helps you remember what it was like as a child.

Descartes realized that he couldn't prove his own existence and said "I think therefore I am".  It is about the experience.  You might say, "But this world is very real and has consequences".  This thought will unravel if you trace it back to the Big Bang and then say "ok now what".  You are left with a system that has compressed the entire Universe into the particle the size of an electron and absolutely everything has merged.

The point is to challenge what you believe and move on to what you know from your experience.  I suggest that your experience of pure radiant love or the Holy Spirit is the same experience as an OOBE.  It happens on the same level.  You are at the same place.  It is merely a question of focus.

I believe most hear will tell you to do two things:

1.) Keep an open mind and be ready to experience your personal journey
2.) Keep an open heart because we each have our own personal journey

You seem to have both.  You are heading down the right path.

I will say one last thing in the spirit of a personal challenge.  Ask yourself how your concept of demons formed.  Was it from passages like Revelation 12:9.  If this were truly an OOBE experienced by John then it may help to read about other peoples experiences on demons in this state.  Their experiences are no more or less valid than John's.

Compare that to passages such as Matthew 8:16.  Are these the same type of words?  I encourage you to look up the greek words.   If you had the ability to heal the sick how would you describe it to somebody 2000 years ago.  Would you say that you took away the bacteria or would you use the words of the time?

This is a great question.  The only theory I know of that posits an answer to this question is Quantum Holography popularized by Dr. Edgar Mitchell.  I believe he worked on this with a Russian physicist.  I read the physicist's paper several years back.  I don't recall the details.

QH seeks to find a resolution to the non-locality exhibited in quantum physics.  In 1964 physicist John Bell introduced a theorem "Bell's Theorem" which proved that this couldn't be explained by a hidden variable in the system.  In other words, this couldn't be some physical property hidden in the system that ultimately reduced the interactions to a game of billiards.  We know that, somehow, entangled particles are able to be connected at (presumably) any distance and the spin characteristics are instantly reflected.

QH seeks to provide a mechanism behind this behavior and suggests that we are connected through a global "consciousness".  This doesn't quite answer your question but it does illuminate a potential path of study, namely quantum entanglement.

However, my guess is the best path would be to analyze volunteers that can display this ability under (ethical) scientific observation.  This would be the most efficient path to answer your question.

On a side note:

Could you please clarify your statement about ratios?  Are you saying the ratio of the expectation to the outcome  represents a critical factor in the manifestation of reality?

I wanted to title this thread "My Opinion on the Nature of Reality".  However, I suspect most people are looking for advice on inducing OOBEs.  I know I like to read other peoples methods.  So I changed the title and restructured my thoughts to fit into the advice category.  My thoughts aren't new to this forum, but I wanted to add a bit of my personal slant on things.

I'll jump straight to the advice.  It's not mine but I will pass it along with a tool.  The kitten of terror, Xanth, has a forum covering a project to help people achieve an OOBE.  It is called Destynee's plan.  Lesson 1 provides a link to a youtube video from Tom Cambell outlining a method for switching your focus away from life to the wider reality.  It is part 5/5 and is roughly 1h 40m long.  I highly recommend watching the video because it gets to the root of the experience.

The trick is a cliche.  You need to empty your mind  :-).

I personally don't agree with some of the fears and concerns he brings up in the presentation.  We all have to face our fears in one way or another but I find it best to keep things simple.  I was pleasantly surprised to him hear talk about practicing relaxing in various conditions.  It's something that I have practiced instinctively and I was very happy to hear some one else talk about it.  Personally, I think the ultimate goal would be to shift at will in a waking active state.  I sometimes feel the tendrils of the shift in a waking state in the corner of my mind.

Well, I promised a tool.  And unfortunately the tool is a metaphor.  I believe it is actually more than just a metaphor.  I think it is a fractal expressing itself.

Please consider the story below.  Hold it in your mind when/if you practice Tom's suggestions.  Make it your belief and reality.  I think it helps to change your focus and in the end it removes a lot of fear.

Here goes:

Imagine you are playing a video game.  You have on headphones and the sound is at a comfortable volume.  You are in the zone and completely immersed in the game.  You have popcorn in the microwave but you don't smell it burning because you are so consumed.  It's time to stop playing and you remove the headphones and turn off the monitor.  Eventually, a transition takes place and you are no longer concerned about the game.  Instead you have to deal with the smell of burning popcorn.  You take a break for 6 to 10 hours and put the headphones back on and power up the monitor (it's an addictive game!).  And so the cycle begins all over again.

As you probably have guessed the game represents our physical reality and the out of body experience is represented by the time outside of "the Game".  I often wonder if the computer game (virtual world) we have created is the system repeating it's structure like a fractal. The rules and world are generated and then we choose to immerse ourselves in this interesting game.

In any case, there are two key points that I would like to highlight about "the Game".

(1) At any time, if you so choose, you could draw your attention away from the game.

This could happen in several ways.  You could think of something else.  Maybe your thoughts briefly turn to the popcorn you had in the microwave.  You could turn the sound down on your headphones.  Or you could disconnect completely. This is the equivalent to falling asleep.

When defined in this fashion sleeping is the same as going "out of body" because they are both represent a disconnect from "the Game".  The only difference is the level of awareness and recall when we go back to "the Game".  Or you take a hiatus from "the Game" which is death.  The key here is that you can turn your attention away with varying levels of being disconnected.

2.) You never cease to exist as a person.

It would be silly to think you are no longer you just because you put on a pair of headphones and turned on your computer.  You exist in both "states" at once.  The difference between the two is where your concentration is focused and there is really only one "state". There is a whole continuum of concentration levels giving rise to the appearance of different "states".  Consider the thoughts about the microwave while you were busy gaming.  Or maybe you think about the game while eating your popcorn.  This is equivalent to dreaming about and worrying about life while sleeping. Or maybe you experience things further down the continuum and have built a world in something you call the NPR.

Many people refer to this other state as the wider reality or the NPR (non-physical realm/reality) and your existence in this realm as your higher-self.

I have come to the conclusion that:

An OOB experience is dreaming with a better focus into the wider realm around you.
An OOB experience or dreaming occurs when you eventually shift your focus away from life.
An OOB experience takes you to some place you already were.  You exist in both states at once.
An OOB experience doesn't mean your "higher-self" has stopped being active.
An OOB experience may occur across an infinite continuum of focus, but we sadly use one word.  We have defined it in the negative and it means to not be focused on "the Game".

So the next time you are lying in bed emptying your mind try believing the following.  The physical world is much like "the Game".  You only need to take your headphones off and shutdown your monitor.  Your body will do this naturally.

Take your headphones off.  What do you hear?  Keep listening.  I'm certain you hear something.  Was the noise loud?  Maybe it was soft and smooth.  You are now immersed deeper into yourself.  Perhaps you even feel a piece of it in the back of your mind while you read these words.  Your headphones are off.  There is a wider world around you waiting for you to explore.  Bring your experiences back and share them here.

Maintaining your awareness and remembering your time with your higher self doesn't require effort.  It just requires that you not be so worried and focused on the game.

LaserKitty,

I have been reading this forum for 3 years.  I have never registered until now.  I registered after all this time because I wanted to respond to your thread.  I have a simple message to communicate.  I think you can find the same message in this forum if you read all the information.  Perhaps you have already discovered this for yourself.  So please forgive any presumptions on my part.

Follow these steps and you will see a positive change.

1.) Be honest with yourself and others. (yourself above all else)
2.) Be introspective while you are being active
3.) Be introspective while relaxing (meditate)

These simple steps will guide you down a path that will allow you to grow and mature beyond the tough experiences.

If you can only do 1 thing out of the three then be honest with yourself.  I have found that it is a daily struggle and has provided me with the most growth and healing.  You were born for a purpose.  You have an important role to play.  Be true to your own internal purpose by being honest with yourself.

As you practice being introspective while you are active you will eventually learn to disconnect - not in a bad way.  It is like watching yourself in a movie and all the emotion and pain you might feel in an argument or stressful situation don't bother you as much.  I think you will eventually find that being "out of body" is actually just a variant of (2) and (3).  It is not armor from the pain and it is not a shield from the world.  It is a synthesis with life.

You eventually begin to realize that your good intentions are often clouded by conflict and emotion, and you have a tool to keep those good intentions close to your heart and mind.

In my opinion, the 3 things above are all you need to get started on a path to healing your trauma.  You will probably notice a positive change in as short as 1 month.  You don't need books or to spend money.

You have all the tools within you.

You have the power to create something beautiful inside you and in this world.

I wish you the best of luck on your journey.  You are your own guide.  And please know that I believe in you.
