I just wanted to add to this having recently had an experience which has, to great affect, altered my perception on this subject and put any doubts I had firmly where they belong!!

Whilst I wont go into the projection itself, I will say, it was deeply personal, beautiful, amazing and actually more "real" than anything else I have ever experienced. Probably not a coincidence that I received the answer I was looking for.

I had to post this, hopefully as a small encouragement to others who are also just starting to explore this element of reality.

Keep at it!!! If ever there is a lingering doubt, ask as many questions as you need and know that you'll get to where you need to be.

Be well

As always, thank you so much to all of you that have taken the time to add your input into this. It is much appreciated!

The element of doubt I guess, is a completely natural reaction to something that takes the polaroid of "normal" flips it upside down, turns it inside out and sets it on fire!!!

Like all of you here, I am putting a lot of time into trying to better understand the world we live in and I guess, after a certain amount of time, you just start to want definitive answers!!

I've read a lot of posts on this forum... And one of the things that really interests me is how projecting is utilized and applied by so many individuals to achieve so many completely different goals!! You have deeply spiritual persons, you have curious/adventurous ones, you have a mixture of both, you have people searching for truth, you have people who project to purposefully get together in teams to "hunt down" archonic entitities... Its just mind blowing!!!!

I think the point I was trying to make is - How do we know whats real and whats not?? What is real??

I will continue and pursue and hopefully find what it is i'm looking for... Hopefully you all will too!!!!

Once again, I'm not trying to be awkward or cynical. Please don't misinterpret this.

If you have never needed reassurance Xanth, you obviously have a better instinctive grasp than I do. I'm working on mine, trying to learn how to know and how to listen.

My point is still very much valid though.

The other night, I projected whilst my wife and I were both sleeping in bed. I found myself in my room (for the first time), it was dark but I could see enough. My wife had gone, the bed and the room were different, the room was slightly different, when I floated out the bedroom door the house was slightly different?

How do we know that we are not just consciously dreaming about experiencing a phenomena we are all willing ourselves to have?

I heard about a study conducted in the states where some people projected and traveled to another site to read information off a card on a table in a house hundreds of miles away. Has anyone else tried this successfully?

I'm not giving up.. Just thought it was a point worth raising. Especially for the people out there who are just starting this journey.

Firstly, I just want to assure you, I am not trying to be controversial for the sake of it!! My following questions and statements are not intended to provoke a reaction but to seek answers to the questions we have all asked ourselves at one point or another.

So here goes....

I am not convinced that Astral Projection is anything more than the mind and imagination working in tandem. I should also point out that i'm not entirely convinced it's not either!!

Since my last post, projecting has been happening thick and fast. Its been happening most nights actually, even when i'm not trying to do it. I've had some really lovely experiences and some quite profound as well. I've been getting guided by a cloaked figure that has never revealed their face, i've been taken to what looked like a giant chess board in the sky and saw myself (looking very warrior like and awesome) as a third party being reprimanded by some archetypal Zeus figure telling me i'm not capable. I've been shrunk to the size of a bug and explored the grass in my garden. My point is, I've been having some really great experiences but that old devil "doubt" is starting to sink in.

Are we really projecting our consciousness into unseen realms? Are we really communicating with spirit guides, archangels , deceased loved ones and other entities? Is our consciousness manifesting outwith our physical selves and having an independent experience or....Are we simply projecting sub conscious feelings and emotions whilst in a lucid dream state and experiencing what we want and expect to experience?

If you ask me, the two are most definitely not the same!

I first came across the term "astral projection" when I was learning about meditation and a few books later, I was completely engaged to the idea. I had it in my head that I would first learn to exit my body, see my physical form on the bed/chair, see some sort of silver cord, be able to call upon various forms of beings who would be looking out for my best interests and learn step by step from there!! That has never happened. My experiences, whilst great at the time, have not led me to believe that what is happening is anything more that just my imagination manifesting as dreams relating to something that has been in my mind at that particular time.

If i'm honest...the reason I am writing this post is 90% for reassurance or guidance. But if that is the case, does it not make sense that I (we) should be having these experiences if we desire and will it so much??

Any feedback would be welcome as always.

Be well

Thanks for the input as always..

You raise an interesting point there Szaxx! This is moving off the original topic slightly here so I a new thread might be better but i'll just ask anyway.

I mentioned earlier that the few experiences I have had up until now have been fairly random affairs! I've been trying to get a level of control and really enjoying doing so but I can't quite cross that final barrier. I can quite easily get to the point where you hear the noises, feel the buzz and are not too aware of your physical body but I can't get that controlled exit that must be second nature to a lot of you yet.

The good thing is that now, I have absolutely no fear. I keep calm and as passive as possible but when I start to feel the sensations and try an exit technique, nothing really happens. The other night I was convinced I was out so did the rolling out thing then had to laugh at myself as I thudded onto the bedroom floor. Ouch!!

I suppose my question is, would I be best to try something new or stick to the same method and just keep practicing it until hopefully it works for me? Does anyone have any suggestions that has worked for them in similar circumstances??

Cheers

Thanks for the info...

We've tried to project together many times. Quite frustratingly, I've only ever projected to another place and never actually experienced the pull and float of the astral body out of the physical where you find yourself in your room looking at your sleeping form.
We have this idea of being able to both project together and meet in the bedroom before we go for a fly!! I guess, we both have a bit of work to do before this is achievable but does anyone have any tips on how we might be able to get to this stage??
Also, I've just started reading the e book that xanth put together on phasing and found it super helpful so well done man and thanks for putting in the effort on behalf of novices alike!!

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has tried or succeeded in projecting with a partner or friend? Is it even possible??

My wife and I both project occasionally or as often as life allows but I suppose you could say we are still very much beginners!

I read a book a couple of years ago by an author called, Erin Pavlina.. I think. In it, she talks about projecting with friends and meeting up in the astral to go fight negative entities wherever they found them.
With a few AP experiences under my belt now, I have to say, this is not what I've experienced so far but the thought of meeting a friend and exploring together really really appeals to me!

Any thoughts would be much appreciated as always...

I don't know about you guys but one of my all time favourite things to do is to "gear up" and head off, just me and the dog, into the forests near where we live here in Scotland. There is a particular area, about 3 miles in, that for some reason, has always given me a great vibe! We'll make a fire, get comfy and chill out! There is no better time or place to contemplate life and its meaning than being alone in nature!

It is truly mind boggling sometimes, this whole spiritual path that we find ourselves on and sometimes the "not knowing" can feel painfully frustrating. I think that, human beings are hard wired to want to understand whats around us, where we come from, where we're going next, what we're capable of but ultimately, this physical experience cannot answer all these questions. If it is "the experience" we are here for, then what must be more important is the journey itself. Of all the members on this forum, how different are all our lives? Yet everyone of us is here, having their own adventure/experience because of a common belief that there is more to life and its meaning than we have been led to believe!

I'm thinking out loud now too!!

Back to reality.

Be well.

ps. Is there a way of attaching a photo to a reply post?

Thats some really good advice guys thanks for taking the time to share..

I'll be honest, i'm a novice at this! I've had a few cool lucid experiences but most of the time I try, I don't remain conscious. I've never had to deal with anything particularly fearful but realise that it probably will come hand in hand the more I achieve successful AP's.

Whats really quite amazing is the level of control, all you guys who do this often, must have over your own fears!! Thats quite an achievement and I take my hat off to you all.

We have tried to project together to see if we can confront whatever (if anything) may be lingering but have never managed it. Maybe deep down our reasons for developing AP differ slightly. I think I might fall into the category of "Spiritually aware adventure junkie".

I'll post back with an update and look forward to seeing what happens

Thanks again

Thankyou Casey, i'll have a chat with her and pass on the advice.

Any thoughts on why the kids are seeing/having the same dream??

 Hope you are all well..

I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on a strange experience that we have been having lately -

My wife are I have been practicing AP for about a year now as well as trying to develop spiritually through daily meditation. We have two boys, aged 7 and 5 who are, for the most part, really happy, healthy kids. We are really lucky actually and have a very positive, happy home which we are grateful for every day.

Recently, my wife has been experiencing these regular dreams where there seems to be this entity of sorts, trying to pull her from the bed and move her around the room. She says it is a "creepy old woman"? I looked into this online and have read stories about "the old hag" and decided that it must be some sort of manifestation of her own fear but when we talked about it, she is adamant that she does not have any fear of AP and that any experience she has had until now has been lovely.

The bomb dropped last week when our kids both came through to us in the middle of the night saying that they had both had nightmares and when we spoke about it, they both said that a "scary lady" was trying to pull them out of their beds????

I have had similar experiences in the past (not lately) but it is not something i'm afraid of.

I could understand this if it was just my wife and I that were experiencing it, but I have no idea how my kids could be experiencing the same thing. Is it just a freakish coincidence?

Any thoughts would, as always, be most appreciated.

Thanks

Hi guys, hope you are well..

I had a strange experience last night which I wanted to share.

I was in the void space trying to project when the all familiar voices started. I turned my consciousness fully toward this voice and concentrated on what she was saying. She was talking about the inner power of mankind and how the ability to affect change is in our hands. She said trust yourself and those around you who are capable and aware! There was a lot more but I had forgotten most of it by the time I started writing it down.

It occurred to me, this morning, (after noticing the 60,000 views on the top post) just how many "capable and aware" people there are just on this forum!!

There are probably many different views on the powers behind the state of our world at the moment, but I don't think that really matters. One thing I'm sure everyone could agree on is that it is in a horrific, fear driven excrement state and there is and has always been a determined effort to suppress the individual connection to spirit.

I wrestle with my conscience daily. What can one individual do against a torrent of suppression and fear? Well if my spiritual journey has tought me anything so far, it has been that we are far from powerless. We are part of something much much greater and while most of the world has yet to awaken to this reality, for those among us that have, this ability to feel love and compassion and joy and empathy and hope is a gift. A gift that can be shared!!

We are all here for a reason, you are reading this for a reason. Maybe that reason is purely to further your connection and spirituality on a personal level but maybe it can also be for a greater good??

For those of you who are thinking "what the hell has this got to do with OBE"? Think of all the experiences you have had, the cryptic feelings and voices that you struggle to remember or just fall into ambiguity. Could there be a message there?

Food for thought!

Great to know guys, thanks. Downloaded the e book and looking forward to a good read.

Has anyone experienced these conversations and managed to find out who it was? It happens to me quite often, and although i'm trying to stay lucid, it is at that stage where you are very dreamy. Most of the time I think it is a conversation about me, helping me but sometimes it is like listening to something so intellectually beyond me, it's almost like a different language they're speaking!
It would be awesome if it turned out to be your guides!!
#15
So hearing a conversation when in trance can be quite a common thing?? In the books I've read on AP and deep meditation i had never heard this being mentioned. A part of me thought I was either going nuts!
Has anyone ever discovered or could shed any light on what might be happening at that point? I've been curious for a while now about who or what that is...
#16
That makes a lot of sense. Cheers.

Its been great talking to people about this! Never really done that before.

Thanks for the input guys.

When you say "go inward" what exactly do you mean? This might sound mental but I get to a point where I feel like i'm floating in space, every deep breath in gives me this feeling of immeasurable vastness like a balloon going from normal size to like planet size! I keep seeing images of coats of arms and shapes that look like crop circles and hearing conversations between two people, I think, are talking about me??
Do you try to ignore these things and drift or would you focus on a particular thing?
The explanation of fear being an issue is probably spot on if i'm honest. My wife does tarot and pretty much said exactly the same thing!

Thanks again

Hi All,

this is my first post on my first forum. Just finding my feet with the "other side of life" at the moment so please bare with me...

I first started trying to AP about six months ago after reading a book by Robert Bruce. In all honesty, I found it a bit difficult to digest. The info was very specific and detailed and almost structured and I came out of it thinking, surely, a journey within yourself would have to be a bit more individual and personal (i'm not knocking the guy or his work, he clearly knows what he's talking about). Rightly or wrongly I started trying a basic technique as often as life allows and have had some success on a few occasions but mostly I either fall asleep and wake in the morning without recall or lie for hours in the blackness, seeing colours and shapes and feel buzzing but when I try to move, it's still my physical body that moves!
In a nutshell, I try to follow these steps - Deep breathing, deep relaxation, try to get to the sleep paralysis stage then just float out!?!
One of the times I did succeed, bizarrely, I ended up in my parents next door neighbours house in the pitch black with a feeling like something badass was trying to get me!!

If anyone has any advice I could try I'd really appreciate it. Hopefully I can come back and share my first proper AP experience with you guys soon.

Many thanks
