Welcome to Out of Body Experiences! / Advice needed
December 17, 2014, 13:19:11
Hello everyone!

I have been interested in AP for a year or two, but haven't had any success. For a long time I had no idea about what exactly I was supposed to do.

Now I think I do.

However, since I have not projected, I must be doing something wrong. For an even longer time I didn't know what, but I think I do now.

"Maintain just enough consciousness to be aware of the ringing/whining sound in your ears."
"...you will add another little focusing point, the center of the blackness behind your eyes or your third eye."
"Just act like you're going to sleep and barely paying attention to the sound and blackness."

Now the problem is, I'm supposed to be aware of something while I fall asleep, but if I focus on anything, I won't fall asleep. I have noticed that every time before I fall asleep, I have to think of something until my mind starts to wander, at which point I lose awareness (If at this point I decided to open my eyes, my recent thoughts would feel like dreams, I couldn't usually even remember what I was thinking about less than a second ago, which is pretty uncanny)

So how would I be aware of something while managing to not stay alert?

(Sorry for possible grammatical errors, English isn't my native language, and while I can spot errors in other people's writings, everything I write feels wrong but I can't seem to figure out why)
