This is not visualization, it should feel like it is really happening. I haven't really tried this myself as it seems risky for such a delicate state.

Yes - I had just read that myself & thought exactly the same. My fear (which'd probably happen) is that I'd simply find myself thrusting my physical body into the air breaking from my state... maybe my fear of that isn't well placed - might as well try I guess.

I'll have to try your stretching technique too in addition to other mentionables within the stickies. A shame the Side Note scenario doesn't provide ample settings to project, mm.

You are very close. Almost any technique you choose to work with should yield results, soon...but it may not show in the exact manner that you expect...it may be RTZ, it may be full 3D astral, it may be lucid dream-like...

Part of this process, at least I think, is seeking and giving yourself permission to do this on a very instinctive/subconscious level...so you have to put the request out there and into your mind and give some time for a response...even some nightly affirmations giving yourself permission to do this can help. What you describe sounds like it is already happening to some degree, so maybe this will help reinforce it.

Don't discriminate between the lucid dream and the full-on obe...take whatever you get...honestly, that's how it works at this point and it can be really frustrating at times...

Take what you get and move from there...that is part of the wonderful challenge. It's a great jigsaw and we are all working it!
Welcome!

Unfortunately the "any techniques" so far, have been a real bummer for me. It's as most would probably agree, simply a state whereby one doesn't understand what he's doing because he hasn't done it before - but once he has, it becomes crystal clear. First hurdle really is the hardest! I'll try some night affirmations. I've never properly used affirmations in regards to astral projection - but I have on several occasions affirmed to myself that I'll wake up the following day at an exact time, full refreshed; & bang on the time I did so, feeling wonderful.

As for Astral vs Lucid;; well, I have made a divide between the two. Lucid doesn't appeal to me from its lack of control (which is great in a dream, but from my understanding, lacks the true control one might have when astral projecting). I suppose, as you ultimately said, anything is better than nothing. I've just focused entirely on the former, paying no attention Ever to the latter over the past. Don't even know where to begin with lucid dreaming ! Eitherway, I'll embrace it if it naturally occurs or is a by-product of Projection attempts, but I'm not trying to achieve it primarily. That's, fine, right?

Also- what's RTZ?

Experience

The other day, I went to bed on the intent of replicating Sleep Paralysis in the hope to Astral Project from it. I've experienced such a state of mind many times before, so wasn't afraid.

I initially lay on my back & relaxed through self-hypnosis. Less than twenty minutes in, I was Heavily relaxed, to a point that my extremities felt detached. At this point, I can't seem to progress through with traditional Astral Projection techniques. The one time something did happen (6 hours of lying on a bed during the day), all I experienced was intense vibrations with an uneventful climax. So instead of proceeding with an already insatiably itchy nose & throat that constantly wanted to swallow, I decided to move to a position that I've always experienced sleep paralysis with - lying on my side with an arm out.

Shortly after this transition, I was counting numbers in my head (from something I had read earlier), & then I felt a familiar numb sensation across my body. These, numb vibrations, quickly picked up with intensity as expected. I'm not sure what I normally do here (though I've always enjoyed this feeling) but this time I just decided to count numbers. Not long after, these sensations climaxed, & my body felt totally different.

This wasn't a state of Sleep Paralysis, it was far too tame. But at the same time, I could recognize that my body must've fallen asleep. As opposed to Proper sleep paralysis - where everything feels heavy, like I'm wrapped in a overly thick duvet - things felt lighter, and it felt as though I had a thin gold-plated casing around me instead. I was actually a lot more awake in the head as well, feeling surprisingly refreshed. But this whole arrangement felt so fragile, & I didn't know what to do next in case of shattering it. My thoughts must've trailed off as I fell asleep.

Query

So at this point, just before I trailed off, what do you suggest I do to Astral Project (not Lucid Dream)? I would very much like direct guidance to try, as I feel that a firm direction will provide myself the confidence needed to succeed.

Just before I had this experience, I read somewhere that I should imagine ejecting through the Chakra from my abdomen, which I had no idea how to accomplish, so gave up shortly after trying. I tried traditional techniques (such as pulling a rope, imagining myself in the room, wiggling out) to no avail either - not that I was ever good at imagining these things, visualizations are certainly not my forté when not unintentionally daydreaming.

Also, would you have any tips ? I've been trying this on & off for the past few years with little success; albeit coming from someone who doesn't meditate & isn't Too spiritually aligned. In the mean time, I have been reading through the Stickies here & have/will be trying them out. I had already typed this wad of text up, so decided to post it anyway.

Side Note

I work during a night shift (recent transition) & have found that when lying on my office chair on some nights, I'll instinctively get vibrations. I won't fall asleep, because I'm on the job (which isn't exactly eventful at the moment), so supposedly my intent to stay away causes me to feel these as opposed to simply nodding off. During this moment, I tend to go along with it - why not? It'll go across my body, like intense vibrations after a while of meditating. Unlike normal sessions that I've done at home, however, it always gets to a point that I suddenly find myself breathing deeply, so much in fact that I'm consciously feeling the air rush through my lips, raising my chest to breath in as much as I can, as if I suddenly desperately needed oxygen! At this point, I feel that my breathing has detracted from the sensations, that it acts as the climatic end to this episode as they simply disperse. What I'm left with, is an incredibly relaxed body. Not "completely" detached limbs, but certainly numbed out all across. I'll open my eyes as if nothing had happened, & eventually move any body part to disperse the relaxed feeling entirely from it to a naturally awake state.

Any views on this ? I'm not sure what to make of the side note..
