Hello all!

Firstly, I would like to say I am new to the forum, and relatively new to the internet and the plethora of information available at a simple click of the mouse.  I am delighted that there is a sight, such as this one, where people are encouraged to share the experience of their spiritual journey's without fear of ridicule.  Thank you.

I would like to know if members of this forum have had experience with "raising Kundalini"... I am specifically interested in hearing of their personal experiences, whether they are negative or positive.  I have heard many arguments both for and against raising Kundalini.  There are even people who have not experienced it themselves and still warn others against spiritual exercises such as formal meditation, especially transcendental meditation and chakra meditation, yoga, etc. for fear of a "spontaneous" Kundalini awakening.  I feel that they equate Kundalini with madness.  Then there are some that believe Kundalini is "enlightenment", and the very pinnacle of any spiritual journey.  I am very interested in hearing your thoughts and experiences on this subject.

To those who choose to share, thank you in advance for your time and assistance.

My mother is Catholic, so coming from her stand point – infants are baptized to "save'" them from "original" sin.  I guess the idea is that if something were to happen to the child before they were baptized, they could not pass into heaven.

Not all branches of Christianity practice infant baptism.  Some believe it's something an individual would do later in life (when they could make their own decision) – then it is a personal remission of sin and a conversion/initiation in to that belief system.

You could try asking your wife if she would wait on the baptism until your child was older.  Would it be OK with you if your child then made that decision on their own?

My father was not Catholic and didn't want me to be baptized...but I was at my mother's insistence.  At 24, I am not Catholic, but my mother believes. I am, because I was baptized such.  I have my own beliefs, so I believe I am not Catholic.  I guess I'm saying in the long run, it may not matter, because your child will grow up to have its own beliefs.

I hope this helps.  Sorry for rambling.

Hi Fat Turkey.

When I meditate I usually use the breath as my object of focus.  However, after a rough day at work I sometimes have trouble stilling my thoughts because I'm thinking about what didn't get done, and what needs to be done tomorrow.  At these times I acknowledge my agitation and focus instead on sound.  Then, "every sound and no sound" becomes my object.  I think Pannabelle mentioned this - "put everything on hold and feel like I'm waiting for a noise or something to come".  It helps quiet my mind because sound can come from anywhere at any moment.  My cat padding by on the carpet, the furnace kicking on, the wind...etc.  If there's no sound then there is the sound of silence.  You'll find that you'll be very focused waiting for the next sound to come, and if your anything like me "listening to silence" will deepen your relaxed state.

I never tried to see aura's before either.  After going to the sight Adrian posted and doing the first exercise I was delighted that I could see the aura's of the circles.  Especially since I was frustrated that I couldn't hold the cross for very long in the second exercise!  The aura thing was a breeze by comparison.  I was having such a good time with that so I opened the Word program and drew a cirlce, which I then filled with different colors of the rainbow (one at time of course).  I then shifted my focus and could see the aura's each color threw.  I was having fun. (It doen's take much sometimes!)

Thanks for posting this Adrian.  Since I've had some sucess with this -  now maybe I'll be able to see SOMETHING in those 3d posters everyone else can see something in!

Thank you, Tom, for the links to some of the older discussions.

Robert's personal experience was very interesting, and was the exact sort of thing I was looking for.  I should add that I have no interest in awakening the Kundalini myself, so I really have no use for information on "how" to raise it.  I really just find the topic fascinating, and have a habit of obsessing on things until I feel I have a certain understanding of them.  I'm "well read" on the subject, but I feel I'll learn more when examining personal experiences.  But, I suppose there aren't very many out there with first-hand knowledge.

In Robert's post he does mention physical pain, and the need to properly prepare oneself for the experience, both physically and spiritually.  I remember reading somewhere that if a person was "truly" ready to awaken the Kundalini there would be no pain, just bliss.  The pain experienced was a warning to those who dared "cross the line" before they were ready.  Have you ever come across this belief?  A lot of people in some of those discussions seem to want to force it, even after a warning from Robert.

Hi there Spirit Gurl.

You are in a spiritual crisis...and because of this, no one is going to be able to GIVE you the answers you're looking for.  I think the answers are inside you, and it's up to you to find them.  I think everyone has felt, at some point in their lives, the same way you feel.  I thinks it's good to feel that way.  That may seem like a twisted comment, but to overcome that feeling, and find your answers, or at the very least, to find the path to your answers...... Well, I belive that must be the most beautiful feeling in the world.  The exact opposite of the hopelessness you're feeling now. And so...no one can tell you what is right.  When you are ready, you'll KNOW what is right.  You'll feel it, and it may feel like you've always known it.

Life is a journey, it's up to you to design it and complete it.  You're only going to get out of it what you expect to get out of it, both physically and spritually.  I wish you the best of luck.

Hey there!

You might find Hermetic Philosophy interesting.  I have a friend who's really into it.  He recommended the book "Kybalion" by The Three Initiates to me.  Unfortunately I haven't had a chance to read it yet.  (I've got a stack of reading to get thru!)  You could check out http://www.plotinus.com/archives.htm for some info.
