Well who woulda thought after just posting that i thought i would never OBE, i would have one last night Well let me describe how i got it and maybe it will help out some others who havent yet. Anyway i was at my GF's house, and we were doing the usual 'watch TV thing' and i decided to have a couple beers. Only 2. Anyway we both fell asleep on her bed at like 11pm. I woke up around 1:30ish am and decided to go downstairs and watch a little TV and maybe try to project. (since i know i wouldnt be able to with her laying next to me). Anyway i got tired with the crap thats on late night so i decided to project again. I went through the usual steps but this time i did something a little different. I took the advice of the response to one of my previous post, and decided to not try as hard. So i let myself get to the point where i could have easily went to sleep. Actually i did doze off a few times but for only a couple seconds. The one time i dozed off, i woke up because i was hearing this wha-wha pulsating sound in my ears. Then i started hearing these weird noises that i knew could not be coming from the room. I was a little confused but then i started feeling the vibrations so i knew what was happening. Even though there was a lot of pressure that i was feeling i knew that i had to do an exit technique. So i did the rope technique and immediately the vibrations increased and i felt like i was "outside myself" not realy far but i didnt feel like i was occupying the same space as my physical body, so i knew i was starting to project. Next thing i see is the TV through 1 eye (i didnt turn it off just turned the sound all the way down). I also felt really seperated. Like i was just floating like 6 inches from my body. So then i was like....OK NOW what...Then im like 'i know i'll just roll over' and just as i thought it, i found myself floating toward the floor. not fast just kinda like i was a leaf. I was sure i was gonna  go right through the floor...but i didnt Anyway i could see with my astral eyes, so i crawled over to the other couch. I wanted my asral vision so i could do a little exploring, so i took the advice of someone from the forum of astralsociety.com and just tried to open one eye. Wouldnt you guess that my PHYSICAL eye opened as i saw the TV! So i quickly shut it and i was back in my astral self. Whoa that was very very very strange. Im at 2 places at once! So i tried it again with my other eye. SAME THING! this time it took a second before i felt my consiousness transfer back to my astral. So now im thouroughly confused, and im laying there like all retarded, still wanting to be able to see badly. So im like ok screw it one more time, and this time with both eyes. Well of course i again opened both physical eyes but this time i felt this weird kinda surge and was fully awake. Well even though it only lasted about 5 minutes, it was a success and it confirmed to me that projecting is real and possible. So my advice to anyone who hasnt had an obe yet, it to keep trying! Try going to sleep and waking up at like 2am. Im convinced now that the main reason why i havent been able to project previously was that i havent been relaxed enough. I think you need to be slightly tired (i guess its easier when u first start out) So! Be relaxed..be a little tired..and dont try to hard..for ME = OBE. ok im done rambling. cya

Well ive been working toward OBE'ing for close to 5 months now and the closest thing i got to vibrations was one night when i woke in at around 4 in the morning. it felt like my whole body was shaking like crazy. at the time i knew what was happening so i went with it. The next thing that happened was i was floating someone near this huge circle of multi colored lights. kinda like a giant ferris wheel but instead of cabins, there were balls of light. This lasted about 10 mintues then everything stopped and i promptly wrote everything down in my journal. since then i have not had any experiences with vibrations. ive done everything i thought i needed to but still not consious exit yet Whenever i attempt to project i can get very relaxed and i clear my mind totally but i never project? I have done NEW, relaxing techniques, mind taming, etc etc...does anyone have any suggestions on how to induce the vibrations? Again im 99% sure im doing everything right (apparently not) but never any results. Any suggestions?

Hello everyone!
Well this is my first post and id like to say what a great site! Anyway a little background information. Ever since i was younger (im only 21 now)i felt (still do) that i am always "searching for an answer, without the question" i dont know if that makes sense but thats what it feels like. The mind has always amazed me. There are many times when i lay awake at night thinking of rationale on the concept of time and space and reality. Anyway about 3 months ago my curiousity led me to the internet where i just started randomly searching for some type of anser on the ideas of time and reality. Somehow from there i ended up on Astral Dynamics and bought the book which i enjoyed a lot. To date, i have had numerous Lucid Dreams but no OBE (yet!). I was just curious though, if any of you have ever tried to use OBE's as an accelerated learning tool? or to help make knowledge more accesible? I am a firm believer that there are many "unsolves" when it comes to what the mind is capable of. Right it kinda feels like something is blocking me from reaching my full potential and i would like to use OBEs to possibly help remedy this. Does anyone else have experience in learning while projecting or while Lucid? Thanks all!

yeah i dont know either. i can get into a light trance no problem and i never get any obe symptoms. maybe it all depends on the person?

haha atlas thats great! No seriously thats kinda exactly what happened to me. The whoosh whoosh sound is right on the money. i did the same thing u did too (rope) I know i wasnt dreaming and im sure you werent either. now if u need furthur assurence let me break it down to you on how i see it.
Ok everyone knows that we naturally project every night when we hit the deep sleep stage, right? right! So anyway say your trying to have a wake induced obe. well this is harder for some then it is for others because it all depends on how you achieve that state. Some people have a really easy time going into trance and reaching that "deep sleep" state. so for them its easy to get the vibrations and what not. but for others (like me) i need to be really really relaxed. So im finding out that the best technique for me is to sleep for 4 hours...wake up and re-orientate myself for like 5 or whatever minutes, then try to obe. its easy for me to drift back off to sleep BUT at the same time, i also get woken up easily (im assuming you are also, but i may be wrong). for instance if someone is coming to my room in the morning to wake me up, im usually up by the time they come in my room. thats how easily i wake up. ok so if we take that into account, lets say we use the technique i just mentioned, and u start to drift back into sleep (again let me add that it is very easy and VERY quick to fall back into deep sleep once you've been sleeping for 4 hours...has to do with REM bla bla) ok so anyway you start to drift back off to sleep..naturally you start to project at the onset of deep sleep, but since you are now semi consiouss and since your a light sleeper...you get awoken by your own vibrations and by these strange sounds. Because of this, your now fully consiouss and aware of whats going on ,and its very easy to further enduce your current state by an exit technique like the rope, of course leading to a consiouss obe. well this seems pretty logical to me and although i havent tested it enough (i will tonight) id like to see if this works for anyone else who is a light sleeper. let me know and best of luck Atlas. hopefully this helped a little
THE END

Nate, hey you might as well! It worked for me anyway i was only half serious. anyway one thing that was holding me back was how relaxed i was. when they say 'body asleep, mind mind' it almost seems like it should be 'body asleep, mind almost asleep' hope that help if only a little bit

haha well hey if it works, go for it! =] but seriously i think a lot of people are doing the same thing i was and that was to think about it too much. I just let it happen and it did, All the other times i would always have this running commentary in the back of my mind, like "ok breath...ok now relax more..ok now this...now that" but once i just let my mind wonder and do what it naturally does, without falling asleep of course! hope this helps if not a little for some of you.

yeah maybe i am trying to hard. I get the concept of body asleep mind awake. i always get to the point where im totally numb, so im guessing thats where my body is asleep, but it always seems like my head is stuck. maybe i should get in the mindset that im just going to go to sleep but dont fall asleep...but anyway from the sounds of it, you basically have to let yourself fall asleep but know how to catch yourself falling sleep right before your 100% asleep then try some technique like the rope? The funny thing is that when i was a little younger i would have spontaneous obes every so often so i know its possible. Its just the whole counsiouss projection thing...ok anyway im done rambling :)

Ah thanks for the reply's!
Yeah stereo reading is kinda what i had in mind. I was also thinking alongs the lines of: basically your subconsiouss [sp?] retains a lot more information then we find redily available in our available memory (for lack of a better term) I was just curious if you could just access the hidden information stored there and kind of relearn what you already know. im sure the amount of knowledge in everyone is awsome but the only problem is how easily we remember what we want to remember. If one could use obes or lucid dreams to in a sense recap what one already knows but again kinda doesnt (i hope you follow) Thats something that interests me greatly. Any other suggestions on the topic?
