The entity you encountered sounds very much like the 'shadow self', met in in dreams and astral experiences.  Characterised by utter blackness and often elusive position, i.e. behind you and impossible to focus on.  From what I've read (after a spectacular lucind dream encounter with my own) it's supposed to represent aspects of your nature that your waking mind can't deal with, or finds unattractive.
Maybe that's not what this was, but hopefully all input or new ideas from others will help you on your journeys.  Good luck.

Hello all,

I have experienced spontaneous astral projection and lucid dreams for my entire adult life, and wonder if anyone else has 'caught themselves' doing something unusual at the tail-end of a lucid dream.

I have always found that attempts at astral projection usually lead to lucid dreaming, and by lucid dreaming I mean those 'dreams' whose sheer sense of 'reality' is overwhelmingly crisp and incredible.  If waking consciousness and vision is like 1950s black and white TV, then lucid dreaming is like HD, RD, Imax, etc.

I have had more than a few of these lucid/astral 'dreams' where I 'come to' within the experience in massive underground places that look like military or science facilities.  In one particularly memorable event I found myself cornered and knew that my only escape was to lift a heavy electrical cable and bite into it.  Somehow the waking opinion I would naturally have about such a course of action did not apply, and my certainty about what I was doing was a curious and resonant factor.

Seeing as several of my astral excursions have ended near local electricity substations, and I seemed to experience a sort of 'magnetic' and inescapable pull, I wonder if this is a back-to-the-bod shortcut.

Has anyone else felt themselves to living a whole other life elsewhere?  And does anyone else have trouble with plaguing influences when they feel they are getting close to a possibly better understanding of such things?

Thanks, Fingal.
