Hi Grigori

I can try and send her a PM or e-mail, but I guess you've tried that?  I know a while back Hannah went travelling and we didn't see her for a good few months, so maybe that's happened again.  We really don't know.

I already tried a few different ways but no response so unless you have newer/better email addresses it's ok :)

QuoteActually Grigori - I remember the chat being discussed.  It was deemed to be a non-starter because in the past we've tried it and it's like a ghost town.   It starts off well enough, but then everyone loses interest... a bit like the API monthly meets.

Yeah that's pretty much normal but it's really more for the members. Every once in a while there's a big meeting and everything is great but most of the time there are just a couple of members who want to chat with each other so it's handy. But if it's not going to be used I'll just go ahead and recycle the database :)

Selski is there any way to send a message to Hannah? I setup the Astral Chat months ago and the last message I recieved from her was that there was something up with the forum and she'd reply within 48 hours ... that was back in June

I'm guessing there was some big upset here a few months back 'cuz a lot changed very suddenly and I also can't contact Hannah b either. If you check the mods out you'll find Hannah b, Rob and clandestino haven't logged in for months.

Does anyone know what happened to Hannah b? The last PM I recieved from her was in June and actually said she would contact me within 48 hours. I've PMed her and tried an email address but so far nothing and it looks like she hasn't logged in since August 8  :?

Well the X7 chat is easy to embed in SMF forums so registered users autologin with their usernames. It also has negligible bandwidth or space requirement and installs in just a few minutes. So if this topic gets re-revaluated I'd recommend X7  :-D anything else and the admins and mods will get lots of questions of why the chat doesn't work ...  :-P

Oh but if your serverhost allows java servelets "Babylon chat" is lots of fun :-) atleast for the people who don't have java issues

I'll second that Gary.  Although there do apear to be some issues surrounding this site and chat rooms.  Does anyone know what they are?

I have a couple of X7 chats which has more options including private rooms and private conversations etc. It is also easily embeded into SMF forums (like this one). http://www.x7chat.com you can check out the demo there.

I also have a couple of instances of http://phpopenchat.org/ though this is the level at which some people start having problems.

After that there are the java based chats but like IRC too many people have problems to make it useful ... though there is one cool one where everyone can draw at once which is fun for remote viewing stuff.

After that I have a TeamSpeak VoIP server available it's a real time voice communication thing. It can handle about 60 people though people have to be nice or it's impossible to tell who is saying what.

As for "issues" with this site and chat rooms I'm pretty sure it's just a lack of interest and or coordination.

Well, I did go somewhere, although I appeared to be alone.  Maybe it's a chatroom for meditation :-D

Seriously though, is this related to the other room i've been trying to reach or something different?
It's completely different. Personally I hate IRC chats and there are just too many people who have problems getting in ... it's just not worth it. What I setup is just a very simple chat that I installed on one of my sites and figured everyone would be able to use. I have 4 other types but this requires the least effort on my part. If it gets used I'll setup another one with more bells 'n whistles. If it doesn't get used I'll just delete it.

If there are advertisements on this forum they are really well hidden because I can't find them  :-P

As for Adrian selling his products well Good for him! He's worked hard to make good products at a good value and has kept this place running for years! He deserves to earn a good living.

I just thought I'd mention that we just had an X Class Solar Flare and are still in the presence of a strong geomagnetic storm. Some people get strange feelings of paranoia, doom, being watched, etc during these type of events. This just sounds a lot like what you are experiencing.

I'll keep her in my thoughts and wish her well!

I'm not a prolific poster so I like the karma system because it's a way for me to let people know that I appreciate their posts by "applauding" them. Likewise when someone posts something mean or just inappropriate it's cathartic to  "smite" them  :-D

Welcome to Astral Chat! / Re: AP forums Hacked?!??
October 30, 2006, 04:47:26
I missed whatever it was that happened here but yessterday the authors of the forum script (SMF) released an update for a "cross-site scripting vulnerability in the search function". So someone probably tried to use that exploit here.

Quote from: simplemachines.orgSimple Machines is happy to release a new update to Simple Machines Forum 1.0 and 1.1. This release addresses a cross-site scripting vulnerability in the search function. Also a few smaller issues have been addressed.

Note that the fix for the SMF 1.0.x branch will be released as new version 1.0.9, while the fix for the 1.1 RC3 branch will merely be released as patched version, the version of the forum will remain 1.1 RC3 (therefore, most of the modifications should remain compatible).

If you currently have installed 1.0.8 or 1.1 RC3, you can do either of the following to upgrade:
* Use the package manager in your administration center - one click, and you're done.
* Download the update archive file from the download page, and upload all of the files from it.
* Download the modification file, attached to this message, and modify the files manually according to it.

Welcome to Metaphysics! / Re: Lights around me

With incandescent lights it's pretty common. If someone turns on a microwave, hair dryer etc, something with a heavy current draw it will dim the lights for a second. A lot of refrigerators will do this too when the compresor first starts up.

hey. check out www.MindSync.vze.com

you download bwgen presets, but as a WAV file (so there is no need to download bwgen)
I don't recommend it ... it looks like a really stupid scamer is trying to sell wav files generated by Bwgen. Everything is badly crosslinked using free resources to make it look like a legit website.

www.MindSync.vze.com is really http://www.freewebs.com/sheehanmds

I'll just report it to bwgen and see how long it lasts ... they can have freeweb shut it down if it's a scam.

Besides the files available look like the ones you can generate from Bwgen for free.

Hehe that is really good!  :-D

It's just an FLV file you'll need an FLV player if you download it or you can convert it ... I just made it into a 4Mb avi if anyone is interested. You may need the MP4 codec to view it but if anyone can't get it any other way let me know. I'll leave it in a temp directory for a week or two.

Well if the survey is 10 multiple choice questions why not just make 10 topics here with 10 different polls? You can put a link to the next poll in each thread with some basic instructions and you'd be set.

This play has over 12,000 members ... that's going to put a lot of strain on the mail system not to mention if each person responded I doubt if Adrian would want to read through and tabulate the results. Why not just create a simple web form and put the link here?
