Welcome to Astral Chat! / The Girl I love
July 18, 2004, 18:43:02
To say sorry to the girl I love, I'm going to spend all of my money [2,000 odd dollars] on her. I thought over all my options and decided on sending her roses. Lots of roses. Simple, clean, elegant.

I haven't really found a company that will deliver 2,000 dollars worth of roses at one time. If you know of such a company, have a better idea, respond.

Oh, yes. Some background. Boy meets girl, Boy loves girl, Girl Loves boy , Boy gets high and ruins relationship. Er...That sums it up.

Yup. I made mistakes. I don't a sermon. Just advice. Insert

Halfway through replying to someones post, I realized: I really dont know very much. I suddenly had a wierd moment. I thought " Hmmm...Im only 13, and I should probably leave these grownup type peoples to themselves." But is that really why I'm leaving? no. Im leaving because I need some time to look for myself, and Im having trouble doing that while posting on these forums. I keep taking out my anger (wrongfully) on people on the forums. Even when I do post something semi-useful, I say it in a mean condescending way. I also lied (a little bit) and I want to appolagize to everyone. I promise that I shall not post for 1 (one) entire year. After that time, I shall come back...older and wiser.

PS: A special sorry to Adrian...

PPS: A special sorry to Robert Bruce

PPPS: A special sorry to all the moderators

Im not sure how often you check the forum...but here goes:

Im sorry that recently that the forums have been distrupted by arguments with the moderators. I havent been very mature (Ok, I havent been mature at all), But I genuienly believe I am doing the right thing. Forgive all of my bad language and worse grammar, and try to understand that myself (and many others) believe that the moniters are being to severe in their punishments and reprimands.

Sincerely yours,

After banning goingslow, I knew something was wrong. You banned him just befcause of his opinion. Then you said (not a direct quote, but this is the basic jyst of what you said) you wouldnt ban anyone just for their opinion.

Hippocracy? hmm....

Adrian...you dont deserve to be a moderator. You dont deserve to be on these forums. You cant ban people to suit your mood.

ADRIAN, I CHALLENGE YOU TO BAN ME BECAUSE I STATED MY OPINION...JUST LIKE YOU BANNED GOINGSLOW FOR HIS OPINION.

Welcome to Astral Chat! / Parasites
August 25, 2003, 18:52:40
If computer viruses are the bullies of the internet playground, then a parasite is that little kid who always begs you to play with you. Basically, a parasite is a tiny program that piggybacks on other downloads. It installs itself on your computer, and can cause any of these effects:

1. Constant popup ads
2. Constant monitering of computer
3. Recording email
4. Recording Instant Messenging conversations
And more...

There are a couple reasons they arent illegal. First, because you installed it on your computer yourself, willingly. You know how whenever your installing something, theres a LOOOONG user agreement? Somewhere inside that is a tiny little phrase:THIS PRODUCT IS AD-SUPPORTED. Which means it has a parasite aboard. Also, they arent really doing anything illegal (well, most of them arent).

Fortunately, you can get rid of annoying adware programs, go to www.download.com, and search for "spybot". It will come up with the download "Spybot Search and Destroy" it gets rid of all unwanted adware. Also, to check your computer for parasites, check out www.doxdesk.com.

Another day...Another circular argument about religion. Whats the point?
I think this is one issue we have to agree to disagree. I dont think anyone has been converted on an Online Forum.

These are the rules at my school. I know them well, having been punished for....well, most of them. This is the way they apear in the student handbook, I havent edited them at all. Tell me what you think about them plz!

Basic Rules

Rule #1A Disrespectful conduct such as bullying, name calling, teasing, ridiculing, displaying offensive graffiti, intimidating, or discriminating is not acceptable.

Rule #1B Tell individuals behaving in a disrespectful manner towards you or someone else that you want them to stop. Report the behavior if it does
not stop. Ignoring these situations is unacceptable.

Why? Such behavior, especially when it relates to a person's gender, race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, age, disability, physical appearance or physical/mental capacity is unwelcome by recipients, hurts others and undermines our community. It takes courage to speak and assist someone in trouble, but if you do not, the behavior will continue.

Consequence A hearing will take place with the student, parent and an administrator.

Rule #2 Fighting is forbidden.

Why? Someone may be hurt. It is an act of violence. It creates disruption.

Consequence All students involved will be suspended for at least one
day.

Rule #3 Students must treat adults with respect. The school will not tolerate a student being rude to an adult, i.e., ignoring, talking back, or engaging in other negative behavior.

Why? Rules are made so that large groups of people can work and live together on a day-to-day basis. Common courtesy requires that we treat each other with respect.

Consequence Depending on the violation, the penalty will range from detention to expulsion from school. The parents will be notified, and a conference may be required.

Rule #4 You are expected to use the hallways and other areas of the school in a calm and orderly manner. Some of the behaviors that are inappropriate to a school setting are: running, loudness, yelling, swearing, "just fooling around" and hugging.

Why? These behaviors are unsafe and inappropriate in school.

Consequence The student may be assigned an administrative detention.

Rule #5 You may not go into anyone's personal property or into lockers assigned to others, or damage the school's or anyone else's property. This includes "popping lockers". You may not go into anyone else's computer files.

Why? It's wrong. You need to respect other people's property and privacy.

Consequence The main office and parents will be informed. Depending upon the degree of the infraction, a detention or suspension will result. The student may lose privilege to use school computers.

Rule #6 You may not skip school, leave school grounds during the day, or cut classes.

Why? You are missing classroom time. Attendance is vital to the primary function of our school. The school needs to know where you are.

Consequence The student's parents will be contacted. One administrative detention may be assigned for every hour that is missed. Repeat occurrences can lead to suspension.

Rule #7 You may not be tardy for school without a note.

Why? You do not start the day appropriately. You miss announcements. You could fall behind in your work.

Consequence A detention may be assigned by the homeroom teacher or academic team.

Rule #8 You are expected to follow the rules for the cafeteria; the rules are outlined under the "lunch program" section of your handbook.

Why? Following the rules creates an organized and pleasant place in which to eat. Disruptions and confrontations are avoided. The cafeteria is kept clean. Students leave the cafeteria ready to return to class and to learning.

Consequence Depending on the violation, the penalty will range from temporary exclusion from the cafeteria to detention or suspension.

Please tell me what you think of the rules!

Countries develope like organisms. They evolve, fight for resources, and are made up of thousands of units, people. Countries are probably the most complex organisms, but they are predictable. The United States has reached its twilight.

Human beings as a whole prefer the most positive point of view. I myself find it much easier to accept that George Bush forced a war on Iraq to find Weapons of Mass Destruction, though common sense tells me otherwise. Lying to myself no longer can protect me from the facts that stand so clearly before me.

We have failed our duty as Americans, to prevent this war. We have know entered a dire state of emergency in Iraq. To withdraw we would leave a country in utter chaos, to stay would mean more American lives. No person has the right to reduce sapient lives to numbers.

What I can see so clearly now, that I couldnt see then, is that the conflict in Iraq is not a war. It is the testing of the waters. It is the first step in the ending of the great empire that was once America. It is the degredation of values that we all once stood for. It is our RIGHT AND DUTY to revolt in times when the government has repeatedly denied us of basic rights.

Im not asking you to lead a charge on Washington, im asking you to think about what makes you American. What makes you a person. Would you stand up for the values that your ancestors died for? Or that your  brother died for in Iraq? Im asking you to lead a personal revolution inside yourself, to find the truth that only YOU can.

Welcome to Astral Chat! / MYST
August 21, 2003, 10:48:12
First, a little introduction:

Myst was one of the first computer to use a CD rom. It was, at the time, the most graphically complex game ever. Its graphics were beautiful (as you can see from above). But most people played it because it was something NEW. You couldnt die, you couldnt fight anyone. Instead, the gameplay was set in a deep archiac world, filled with mystery, puzzles, and good and evil.

Now, this relates to Astral Experiances. How? Because part of the world of myst is the concept of ages. An age is basically a plane, or another universe. They were first created by the ancient race of the D'ni (pronounced dunney). To create an age, you need to write a book that describes EVERYTHING in the age in great detail. In the original game of myst, you only had access to 5 ages. (or was it 6, I cant remember). The point is, ages are very much like planes. If you havent played the game, go out and buy it! its around 10bucks on amazon. Or, if your feeling particularly rich, get its sequals, Riven and Exile.

This is some interesting stuff about the D'ni universe, and how they create the mysterous linking books:

Book:  (kor)

Books relating to "the Art" are highly regarded in D'ni culture. The books themselves are special creations and the process for their construction is mostly unknown at this time. It is known that there were D'ni guilds for both creating the books (the actual page material, and the binding process) and for creating the ink used to write the books.

Descriptive Book: (kor-mahn)

When the D'ni created the original link to an Age, it was done through the writing of a Descriptive Book. This Book was written with all of the descriptions of the Age that would be linked to. The Descriptive Book is the primary Book defining a particular Age. The Descriptive Book is a requirement to create the founding link to any Age.

The manuscripts state that the D'ni believed that when the writer of an Age describes the Age, the Age is not actually created, but a link is established to a preexisting Age that most closely represents what has been written. The D'ni believed that all Ages were actually created by the Maker, and that the D'ni were imbued with a gift from the Maker to create links to the Ages.

As far as D'ni manuscripts are concerned, Descriptive Books are always written in the D'ni language, and always have been. It is not at all clear whether or not other languages could be used. There is some question as to whether there is enough room in a single Book for modern languages to describe worlds that the complex D'ni characters handle routinely.

Written contradictions in the Descriptive Books were a cause for great concern for the D'ni. From a young age, Guild students were taught to concern themselves with the details of what is described in a particular Descriptive Book, so as to avoid contradicting those details later on in the Book. Such contradictions could cause severe instabilities in an Age. D'ni culture is fraught with stories of contradictions discovered only after the preliminary scouts from the Maintainers Guild never returned. Such stories were used to impact young writers.

There are innumerable manuscripts that document making changes to Descriptive Books and their associated Ages, once the Ages had been visited. The procedure required meticulous attention to detail and was attempted by only the highest levels of writers. The problem seemed to lie in the synchronization of what was written in the Descriptive Book and what was actually observed on the Age itself. If changes were written into the Book that contradicted previously observed features of the Age, it was possible that the Descriptive Book would divert its link to an Age that more closely resembled the changes described. It would appear that the link to the "pre-diverted" Age would be lost, and it would be impossible to reestablish the original link.

There have been some restrictions discovered regarding writing bizarre Ages, Ages that would defy the laws of nature as the D'ni knew them. It seems this is to discourage books that might create links to unstable Ages.

Restrictions have also been discovered concerning man made objects written into an Age. It appears that some kind of initial experimentation by the D'ni was unsuccessful and unpredictable, and the restriction was established.

Linking Book: (kor-vahkh)

A Linking Book is simply written as a reference to a Descriptive Book. Although linking to an Age is possible through a Descriptive Book, it is often more convenient to write a linking Book that refers to the Descriptive Book. The original Descriptive Book can then be protected, to be used for reference or changes at a later date. Multiple Linking Books can be written that all refer to, and perform the same as a single Descriptive Book. In D'ni culture the Linking books were often much smaller than full Descriptive books, which presumably allowed for greater portability and which preserved paper.

A link to an Age cannot be created or changed by writing into a Linking Book. Linking books are written rather easily and quickly using a common combination of paragraphs and descriptions which refers to the original Descriptive Book. Linking books link only to the place where the Linking Book was written in a particular Age. Thus, there is a chance that a Linking Book could be rendered useless if the Descriptive Book with which it was associated were changed in a way that significantly changed the place to where the Linking Book linked.

If a Descriptive Book is destroyed, all Linking Books associated with that Age are rendered useless. Linking Books cannot be used to link to other places within a particular Age. D'ni manuscripts seem to infer that the act of linking actually requires some kind of dimensional transfer.

As you can see, Im really into this stuff.

Welcome to Astral Chat! / The Revolution
August 20, 2003, 15:48:14
Consilidation. Over time, weaken individuals and strengthen corporations. It can be done with taxes,  imperceptably, over time. Its happening now, as we speak. For hundreds of years theres been a conspiracy of Plutocrats against normal people. My reasoning goes as follows:

1. The main ingrediant to become a member of the US government, and any other government, is money. From Benjamain Franklin to George Dubya Bush, the only thing they have is money. Leadership, personality, and charisma help, but only money matters. The worse you are at these things however, the more money you need. In other words, its a good thing George Dubya is REALLY rich....

2. Taxes, what happens to them? If its really that important that we pay them, shouldnt we know where they go? well, maybe we shouldnt, I mean, what we do know is bad enough. for example, over 10 billion dollars a year is spent on the Isreali Military. Why? just so they can kill more Palestinians? Im not saying that the Palestinians are better, there just less funded. Why are we giving the Isrealis fighter jets to fight the Palestinian donkey carts? ask George Dubya.

3. Person records. Police officers, parents, teachers, and social workers can see them, but the only person who cant is YOU! another puzzler to ask your local congressman.

4. The Media. Do I really have to give examples of all the lies and stories they come up with to cover up George Dubyas desperate War for Oil? Nope...didnt think so.

5. The UN. Its the one place the US cant control, so its ignored instead. In fact, UN weapons inspector Hans Blix resigned after the US ignored their finds...(of no WMD) in Iraq, and attacked anyway.

6. Decadence. Most americans dont need 300 channel cable. They dont need 28 brands of peanut butter. But they have them anyway.

We are living in the Dying Era of a great Empire. The United States will fall. And with it all it represents. It no longer represents the ideals on which it was founded, it represents all that is decadent and overdone. It is the worst of humanity.

It is, in fact, our right and duty to revolt when the country is under a rule that denies us basic human rights. The constitution and common sense tell us this.

Welcome to Astral Chat! / Doom
August 19, 2003, 08:30:16
Last night I had a great trance, which left me wide awake and very alert. I decided I would make use of my alertness to beat the next level in Doom. As many of you know, Doom is a the original Sci-Fi FPS, (first person shooter). Its graphics may be a little low tech for nowadays, but with the updated version ZDOOM, the graphics are still chilling. //www.idsoftware.com. Anyway, after playing for about 10mins, I became more and more conscious of the game, and less and less conscious of playing. Eventually, I felt my thoughts COMPLETELY seguay into the game. It was exremely scary, and since I was playing on the "Nightmare" difficulty, I was having trouble staying alive. After about an hour of playing with complete conscousness, I was suddenly booted back to my body after being hit by a demon. Has anyone else become super-conscious in a video game?

I think I have finally found the answer to these questions. These answers suit me, and undoughtably they will not suit everyone. I hope that you will read them and try to understand the truth that I foudn in the them. For I believe that they are the answers that humanity once knew, and lost for thousands of years. ThankYou.

God is you. God is also me. He lives inside all of us. He is quite simply, the best of us. He is the ultimate Spiritual guide. He is everything good about us. When you go to the Astral plane, you often meet "guides" these guides are other represantations of yourself. Some are good, obviously, and some are evil. The worst side of yourself is the devil. So when you die, you either become one with god (who is the best of your personality) or one with the devil (who is the worst). Since there are many other "shades" of your personality, you can become one of these as well. This allows you to "remain Neutreul".

But how is this possible scientifically? OBEs arent actually physical travel, they are just the exploration of your mind. During anOBE, you are allowed complete and full access to your subconscious. You are allowed to see your entire mind before you. My father, who is a physicist, believes it is possible to access your subcounscoius this way. We did some studies that indicate that when you achieve an OBE, you are using all of your brain. Normally, you only use about 1/10 of your brain power. So obviously, with the full powers of your brain, you could achieve such amazing things as meeting your ultimate good side, or your ultimate bad side.

To sum it all up, God is the represantion of the best of your personality, and he is only accesible by using your entire subconscious to look at yourself. So the meaning of life is to merge with yourself, become your ultimate good (or evil) personality. And achieve complete oneness with everything.

Im aware that many of you will be upset, because of my ignorance. Im only 13 though, and this is the first thing I really figured out on my own. I really like this theory, and I hope you will consider it as a facty, rather than the musings of a child.

Thank You.
(PS: I want your opinions, however much you hated my theory)

This technique is good for beginners and intermediates alike. I think it may have come from an old book, so dont yell at me if youve heard it before. It goes as follows:

1. find the best restful spot you can. If you like sitting down during OBEs, sit down. If you like lying down, then ly down. Ive found that this technique works best for me when Im lying down, but whatev.

2. Visualize your body as just the outline of the body, no clothes or jewelry, just your body. Then slowly change its color to to black. To represent all the bad thoughts and bad things you did. So now you have a black body, because it is filled with all the negativity.

3. Now imagine a glowing fluid sliding into your head. It slowly flowls through the rest of your body. As it goes, It picks up all the darkness, all of your bad thoughts and feelings. It picks them up and absorbs them into itself. So slowly, the liquid turns black, while your body turns into a glowing white. The liquid then slides out of your feet, done purifying you.

4. You have now achieved purifying your body completely. You have a pure body, completely void of all sin and badness. Let yourself float up, of your bed, (or chair). Your pure body will easily be able to achieve the astral plane.

Tell me if it worked for You!

Most schools today are run rather like prisons. You spend an average of 5 minutes a day learning, then 6 hours and 55 minutes reviewing what you learned with mindless busywork. Lunch breaks in most US schools are between 15 minutes and 30 minutes. Students are discouraged from origanal thinking and problem solving. Unfortunately, when a smart child enters the system, he usually does poorly. Why? because smart, creative children dont really need to work hard on the busy work for the first few grades. So they never develope the "Basic Learning Skills" that most other children develope. However, this doesnt mean they are stupid, it just means they were too smart to conform to a failing system. They never learned to conform and work on busy work. They just think to creatively to spend hours working. So what happens to these kids? they ussually do poorly in school, and then amaze everyone by become succeses anyway! Take Bill Gates, for example. Creator of Microsoft. He dropped out of school and formed his company, microsoft. In 10 years, he was the richest man alive. Our current system of school is horrible!

"Prohibition... goes beyond the bounds of reason in that it attempts to control a man's appetite by legislation and makes a crime out of things that are not crimes. A prohibition law strikes a blow at the very principles upon which our government was founded." -- Abraham Lincoln December, 1840

1 Q. What is Marijuana?

A. "Marijuana" refers to the dried leaves and flowers of the cannabis plant [1], which contain the non-narcotic chemical THC at various potencies. It is smoked or eaten to produce the feeling of being "high." The different strains of this herb produce different sensual effects, ranging from sedative to stimulant.

2 Q. Who Uses Marijuana?

A. There is no simple profile of a typical marijuana user. It has been used for 1000s of years for medical, social, and religious reasons and for relaxation [2]. Several of our Presidents [3] are believed to have smoked it. One out of every five Americans say they have tried it. And it is still popular among artists, writers, musicians, activists, lawyers, inventors, working people, etc.

3 Q. How Long Have People Been Using Marijuana?

A. Marijuana has been used since ancient times [4]. While field hands and working people have often smoked the raw plant, aristocrats historically prefer hashish [5] made from the cured flowers of the plant. It was not seen as a problem until a calculated disinformation [sic] campaign was launched in the 1930s [6], and the first American laws against using it were passed [7].

4 Q. Is Marijuana Addictive?

A. No, it is not [8]. Most users are moderate consumers who smoke it socially to relax. We now know that 10% of our population have "addictive personalities" and they are neither more nor less likely to overindulge in cannabis than in anything else. On a relative scale, marijuana is less habit forming than either sugar or chocolate but more so than anchovies. Sociologists report a general pattern of marijuana use that peaks in the early adult years, followed by a period of levelling off and then a gradual reduction in use [9].

5 Q. Has Anyone Ever Died From Smoking Marijuana?

A. No; not one single case, not ever. THC is one of the few chemicals for which there is no known toxic amount [10]. The federal agency NIDA says that autopsies reveal that 75 people per year are high on marijuana when they die: this does not mean that marijuana caused or was even a factor in their deaths. The chart below compares the number of deaths attributable to selected substances in a typical year:

Tobacco...............................340,000 - 395,000

Alcohol (excluding crime/accidents).............125,000+

Drug Overdose (prescription)............24,000 - 27,000

Drug Overdose (illegal)...................3,800 - 5,200

Marijuana.............................................0

*Source: U.S. Government Bureau of Mortality Statistics, 1987

6 Q. Does Marijuana Lead to Crime and/or Hard Drugs?

A. No [11]. The only crime most marijuana users commit is that they use marijuana. And, while many people who abuse dangerous drugs also smoke marijuana, the old "stepping stone" theory is now discredited, since virtually all of them started out "using" legal drugs like sugar, coffee, cigarettes, alcohol, etc.

7 Q. Does Marijuana Make People Violent?

A. No. In fact, Federal Bureau of Narcotics director Harry Anslinger once told Congress just the opposite - that it leads to non-violence and pacifism [12]. If he was telling the truth (which he and key federal agencies have not often done regarding marijuana), then re-legalizing marijuana should be considered as one way to curb violence in our cities. The simple fact is that marijuana does not change your basic personality. The government says that over 20 million Americans still smoke it, probably including some of the nicest people you know.

8 Q. How Does Marijuana Affect Your Health?

A. Smoking anything is not healthy, but marijuana is less dangerous than tobacco and people smoke less of it at a time. This health risk can be avoided by eating the plant instead of smoking it [13], or can be reduced by smoking smaller amounts of stronger marijuana. There is no proof that marijuana causes serious health or sexual problems [14] but, like alcohol, its use by children or adolescents is discouraged. Cannabis is a medicinal herb that has hundreds of proven, valuable theraputic uses - from stress reduction to glaucoma to asthma to cancer therapy, etc. [15].

9 Q. What About All Those Scary Statistics and Studies?

A. Most were prepared as scare tactics for the government by Dr. Gabriel Nahas, and were so biased and unscientific that Nahas was fired by the National Institute of Health [16] and finally renounced his own studies as meaningless [17]. For one experiment, he suffocated monkeys for five minutes at a time, using proportionately more smoke than the average user inhales in an entire lifetime [18]. The other studies that claim sensational health risks are also suspect, since they lack controls and produce results which cannot be replicated or independently verified [19].

10 Q. What Can I Do About Marijuana?

A. No independent government panel that has studied marijuana has ever recommended jail for users [20]. Concerned persons should therefore ask their legislators to re-legalize and tax this plant, subject to age limits and regulations similar to those on alcohol and tobacco.
