I'm new here too. I have recently rekindled my interest in astral projection after being scared off approximately fifteen years ago. I had some very frightening experiences that made me wonder if I was tinkering with things that were potentially dangerous in ways I couldn't possibly know.
I was frequently visited by the thing that Robert Bruce calls the Dweller (I think that's what he called it... not sure). This thing threw me into what I call 'mortal fear' or 'primal fear'. I finally succeded in overcoming my fear and figuratively grabbing the thing and saying something obnoxious to it. It hasn't been back since, but after that, I struggled with trying to decide whether it was a manifestation of my fear or if it had objective reality. I decided to stop just in case the latter was true. Way back in the old days, there wasn't much info out there about projection.
Back then, I was very proficient at projecting but now I am back to square one. I'm really glad I came across Astral Dynamics because it explained a lot of my experiences to me and helps me to take a step toward believing that I can't be harmed by doing this.
I'm currently working on inducing the trance state and using BWGen also. I haven't quite figured out BWGen yet. I've managed to create a CD from one of the presets in the trial version but anything more complex is beyond me at this point.
