What I learned thru time is that you need to be fully convinced and positive about what you're doing, otherwise you are more likely to fail. My biggest problem during my fully conscious projections was the doubt - I could't really imagine myself existing out of my physical body, which led to failures at the vibrations stage. Those doubts can be a big deterrent.

Smoking does not affect this, for sure! I used to be a heavy smoker and during that time I had some of my most successful experiences, so to speak (which does not prove anything either[:D]) It seems to me you do need to spend some more time on relaxation and chakra work. Good luck ya all!

Hello Beowulf, your point of view is very interesting, but I think we should rather radiate love towards anything we find there; after all, we are still just visitors to the place we do not know and we could be perceived as "intruders", at least for the time being[;)]
Anyway: your attitude makes me feel more courageous though.

What I was getting at is...[:I]
everyone has to find their own ways to overcome their fears; for me it was enough to read that everyone experiences it and there is nothing to be afraid of (said by an experienced AP-or). It helped me a lot even though there had been so many things/negs which scared me at first.
Good luck: one day you won't feel your fear any more[:)]

I have experienced terrible fear many times being out and I can understand you, Juventas (and others) very well. The problem is that every next time before OBE I promised myself not to be afraid, but once the experience started I forgot all about my resolutions coz the fear was so tremendous. I know how difficult it is to overcome it. I have also experienced some unpleasant encounters. There is one thing I would never do again, however; do not call any spirits for help if you don't know any (or you haven't met your guide yet). It can always be an invitation for some unwanted beings, not necessarily favourable.

My first OBE happened 12 years ago [:O]and at the time I simply thought I was DYYYING!!! I was so scared! No one would convince me it was just my imagination...

Clandestino: exactly, exactly! Best expressed.[^]

To me, if anyone gives themselves the slightest chance of believing in it, they "open the door" in this way, which will enable them to enjoy such travels consciously in the future. It is sometimes enough to think intensely about it; sooner or later it always comes...[;)]

No, I'm sorry... my dreams have always been positive and peaceful. Well, sometimes neutral, but the scenery - always wonderful. I'm not an expert on nightmares, but if I have one (which is very rare), I try to interpret and understand it; once I've done it they never come back:)

After some of my first projections I felt somehow "hollow"; it is really hard to describe it. I just felt I lacked some energy and was physically weak. It still happens to me sometimes but I have not yet discovered what the reason might be.
Another point is the dreams! I had never had such dreams before I started projecting. Most of them are so colorful, so clear, beautiful - I can't find words to describe them. They seem to be more vivid than reality. Moreover, some of them happen to be the reflection of future events (things usually happened the next day). What's weird, though, is that in all cases my dreams were mirror-images of what was going to happen, that is, exactly opposite.

When I was a very small child (about the age of my first conscoius memories:) ) I used to have very strong feelings of awe and amazement while looking at beauties of the world, sunrises or sunsets and stuff like this. The prevailing feeling accompanying it was extreme longing, as if I was not from this place, I had this weird, very strong feeling I was missing something. Today I sometimes wonder if they were some traces of my life before my birth? I don't feel it any more, but I'm sure it influenced my path.

Be patient and don't get too excited. Have you read Treatise on AP by Robert Bruce on this site? It is a very, very helpful piece of writing which I found extremely useful. You will find relaxation and concentration techniques there which will lead you straight to the other planes. Keep trying and don't give up!:)

During my projections (half-induced and half involuntary, since they all always happen at the end of sleep) I sometimes experience a blurred vision or everything around me is darker than it really should be. I just can't see well. Typical commands of "vision now!" type don't really help. I heard, however, that all this can be put down to the lack of energy of the etheric body while projecting.
