I remember hearing a very loud and prominent voice screaming " NO!. DON'T!. "...

Obviously I listened!!, And it ended the experience, lol. My heart skipped a few beats because of that one. The most difficult part is training yourself to not respond to them as if they're happening around your physical surroundings, which is very difficult to do at the beginning.

This is what Robert Bruce describes as a " Mind-Split ". He explained during one of his projections, he returned and stared at himself and was able to will his physical eyes open. He went on to say it was a very difficult mental juggling act to have 2 separate bodies, staring at one another, while seemingly having both consciousness in both bodies. I can't even wrap my imagination around that one.

When i was more actively practicing phasing, I remember several dreams in which i would slowly begin to awaken, and i would deliberately keep myself from moving, to be able to slip back into the phase, and several times because of this, i would witness the dream scenario slowly appear, and i would get involved in the surroundings, while still having a slight feeling of my physical body slipping deeper into sleep. Kinda strange when ya think back at it, but it flows so naturally when it happens. Very strange in deed =D

Congratulations on your experience, Seems very exciting.

Okay, so i feel i have been having some serious breakthroughs lately. I've been taking my practice VERY seriously, atleast 1 routine a day, and im finally getting my mental juggling act perfected to where i have succeeded the past 3-4 attempts, and several before that. Well, earlier today, something happened that i don't ever want to happen again. I'll explain the entire thing in short...

After a quick and brief exit about 10 minutes earlier, I found myself playing around briefly in a strange lucid dream where i tried to pull myself back to my body without moving. I felt slight physical sensations until i realized that i was back in/near my body. I then attempted to peel myself forward and out towards my ceiling. I felt myself lean forward, spin, and slide gently forward towards my door, But was blind. I tried " Vision Now " a couple of times with no success.

COMPLETELY out of no where, It felt as though something wrapped around my stomach, And just took off. The force was pulling me completely backwards by a speed that was actually excruciatingly painful. I reached down and actually felt a large flat 'something' on my stomach, which was pulling me, and was able to peel it off enough to bring some comfort to my stomach. I then started saying " Okay, Done, I want back in my body!! ". It stopped for a split second, then BAM, took off again, equally as painful.

By this point i couldn't take it, and started moving my physical feet. I felt them slide back and forth under the sheets a couple times, But the pull continued. SO, as a last resort, I decided, " FINE! " and i relaxed, thinking it would stop on its own, and i would end up somewhere. Sadly, 3 more long, and painful tugs just kept ripping me around in blackness. It took me moving both my feet, and sliding my hands around, and shaking my head until i suddenly found myself pop back in the bed staring up at the ceiling.

Basically, i've experienced the momentum tickles in the stomach, sometimes during vibrations that are as intense as sliding down a roller coaster, and can somtimes be alil' too intense for comfort. But never like this. This was by far one of the most uncomfortable things i've experienced yet. But what i can't come to grasp on, Is the fact that i had to make SSOOO many different approaches to stop. I was in control, I was lucid and all that, But for some reason, I honestly felt for that short moment, i was just hanging on for whatever this thing had in mind for me.

Now i dont really believe in the whole concept of " Evil ghouls and ghosts " but I also really doubt this entire thing was created by me. And if i did create it, IT NEEDS TO LEARN HOW TO LISTEN TO ITS MASTER >o<;;

All jokes aside, Has anyone ever experienced something like this??....If so, Any conclusions!?

Yesterday for instance, I woke up randomly from sleep, and would keep myself from moving much.....And i would phase into a dream image usually within' 1-3 minutes after waking up. When i wake up, I fall back asleep almost instantly, this might be an advantage on my part =D...

But it depends i guess. I've always been known to pass out fast.

I'm forced to agree with mcdwg and say i was in the same boat as him. I was introduced into energy work at an early age, Practicing Kung-fu that was heavy into Qigong at the age of 13 (24 now) and when i had my first spontaneous OBE, and spiked my interest, my first thought was to somehow interpret what i know of Energy, to somehow aid my process.

In the 4-5 years i practiced heavily, its fair to say i had more spontaneous unexpected experiences FAR more often, then i did those that were deliberately planned and practiced....Then what happens?.......I try phasing for the first time, and in 3 days, have had 2 mind-blowing experiences....

From what i personally find?....Its very easy to look at the concept of OBE as a whole, and naturally think of it as a complex and complicating process. But as soon as i gave up, and tried the " hang on and let it happen, just go along with the ride " approach, i find that its as if you are given access to a muscle, or an instinct that already knows what to do naturally.

Relax and just let it happen......Trust yourself that you'll know what to do........Because, you do!!..

Thank you everyone for your responses....I can't get over the success of this simple lil' change of habit. I've been on and off for years now, and in three days, have had 2 of what i can seriously consider OBE's.

I have been wondering alil' something.....Reflecting a couple years ago at some of my most profound experiences, and comparing them with what has happened to me recently....I have a quick question to those with more experience...

Recently, i find that during the experience, I'll have good awareness, excitement with everything I'm currently involved in, and finding the experience -more- than mind-blowing. But, upon waking, the memories of the event never fully reflect the intensity of the experience. The memories are accurate in the events, just never as intense as i remember them being at the time.....Almost similar to the hazy dream-like memories...

Does this go away with more awareness?...More experience?...Or is this pretty much how the memories work in this field of things?..

Thanks for your responses thus far, Look forward to reading more =D...

Okay, so i was reading over some of Frank's old notes. I dunno why what he wrote decided to really take hold this time, and not have much of an effect before, But boy did it ring home. I was reading about how the biggest problem he notices people having in their attempts of AP is that while they're trying to relax, enter trance, raise energy, Etc...They are focusing entirely too much on their body, which is the exact OPPOSITE of what they are needing to do. Frank states, that when he phases, he simply relaxes, and notices the changes take place behind his eyelids....

Well, i tried that for the first time last night, and to my excitement.....I believe it worked   :-o

It began with me getting gut-busting rushes of tickling energies in the pit of what feels like my stomach, and i find myself standing completely awake in a strange dream. I begin by trying to erase the scene to be left with nothing, to advance into an OBE. With every attempt to clear my vision, something else would just jump in. So i then looked for something i might be able to interact with....And in the distance, something caught my attention. A large white cloud, hovering barely over the ground, with a large black-hole like feild in the center. This black area was the only thing in my vision that was actually clear. A man behind me asked " ..You wanna go there? "...I replied " Yes, i need to get there. "...With a simple wipe of his hand, my entire area changed.

I suddenly found myself on my knees over these thin plates of ice in this club-like area...Listening to a live band perform. In all my lucid dreams...Nothing...Has...EVER...Looked this clear. I must have spent 10 minutes just looking around admiring how real everything looks. I went and sat next to a man at the bar, and remember saying " Man, This is weird.. "...He looked over at me and asked " What is? "....I replied, " Do you know how strange it is to know im here right now, While im actually completely asleep in my bed? "...He laughed, and stated " Yeah, enjoy it while it lasts, Soon you'll feel like your blood has turned to ice shards! " As he laughs and turns back to the bar....

Not entirely sure what he meant by that, I tried to remain aware, and just enjoyed the area. This went on for sometime but....Was i still dreaming?...

I honestly can't tell if i went from a lucid dream, to a REALLY lucid dream...Or what?......Anyones opinion??...

Also, if this happens again, what else should i try to make sure i actually end up in the astral, and not another self-made reality  :?...

Well, i've decided to pick up where i left off, and go back to daily routines. I have quit smoking, and got my hands on some more Nicotine patches. Anyone who has read my last post regaurding those, knows why.

Anyways, the next morning, i woke up after about 6 hours of sleep, by my alarm. Relaxed myself, said a few affirmations, and tried to drift off into a LD. Sure enough, i found myself in some strange city, lucid enough to call out for clarity, and began wiping the scene. Using my hands i would reach up, and drop my arm erasing everything around me, until i found myself in a completely black surrounding, in the attempt to convert this LD to an OBE. Well, something strange happened.

I found myself over this VERY large field of green plant-like pullips. I was floating roughly 20 feet above, just admiring the view. I flew in a quick jolt, and landed in the middle of this forest like area. My awareness was sharp, but i was feeling alil' numb, so i knew it was still just a Lucid Dream. I began throwing my hands out, pushing rushes of fire, water, and ice over the trees, watching them burn, soak, and freeze...THen repeat a few times ( Just for fun i guess? ). Then a large title wave of rushing water came towards me from the distance, I raised my arms, and mentally surrounded myself with a protective bubble.

After a slight lapse of consciousness, i was standing in the middle of a grocery store like area. Talking with the people there. I was looking around and caught someone looking at me rolling their eyes. I remember stating " Aaaww, someone doesn't like the Daydreamer's, eh? " She chuckled, and walked off arrogantly. I walked to the counter and asked if they had anything chocolaty?...She pointed her fingers at my face and responded, " Something like this? "...Right as her sentence ended, a creamy rich milk-chocolate flavor rushed through my tastebuds. ( Absolutely delicious i might add ).." Exactly! "......Then suddenly i heard my alarm. Sounding through what seemed like the intercom of the store. I looked around and stated " Well, time to wake up!! "..

I said good-bye to the people, and jumped up placing my back to the ceiling, and rushing backwards incredibley fast. A rushing falling sensation came over me until i felt my physical sensations slowly coming back.

Now, im curious why the conversation attempt didn't work, but whatever.....I had fun =D......I had about 6 other short LD's after that. and the next day....

Now, are there any other ways to try and convert an LD to an AP?....Because i will be having anywhere from 20-50 Lucid Dreams every week this month, now that i have these patches. Anyone have any advice of some other Conversaion attempts? Im going to try the Mirror Trick in the morning, if i wake up with enough time, before i have to leave for a doctor's appointment.

Thanks guys! =D.,

This is definitely one of those Irrelevant topics that you will get a wide arrange of answers on. Me personally, I use a blanket everytime. The reason being, I'm more comfortable when i'm covered. I still wear lose clothing, But i have to be covered up to my chest. Its just a comfort thing.

Whatever you feel more comfortable doing, Do it! That's the only difference it will make, Is the difference, You think it will make.

I didn't read through all the replies, So i hope I'm not repeating anything that someone has already stated....But i wanted to throw my 2 cents in.

First off, I feel your pain, I had this problem as well. It is - VERY - aggravating, and definitely distracting enough to make you call it quits. I found a beautiful way to eliminate the problem however, and maybe it will work for you?...

Right before i begin my AP routine. I brush my teeth, and rinse my mouth out with warm water. Then, while doing my routine, i NEVER.....Repeat.. -NEVER- put any awareness on my mouth area. Keep your entire Focus away from your mouth as much as possible. You should be focusing on something outside of your Physical body anyway, But once it starts, its hard to not focus on what's bothering you.

But anyway, Yes. If it happens every once and awhile, Fine....Just swallow, and continue. Its not as interfering as it may see. You won't break trance from swallowing. You do it a million times at night, I'm sure.

Hope this helps, Let me know. Its done wonders for me!

Well, I couldn't believe exactly how this worked, But i believe it did.

For starters, I'm a smoker. Been smoking a couple years now, Just shy of a pack a day. I've been thinking about quitting lately, So i got my hands on some 14MG Nicotine Patches. Now, on the back of the box, It reads " Users have reported an unusual vividness and strange characters in dreams. Do not use Patch during sleep if uncomfortable figures keep you from resting '

Very strange caution on a box, So i read up on some things. Sure enough, Everyone i know that has used them, Said they had the craziest most vivid dreams, While sleeping with a Patch on. So i tried it...

First nights sleep, 3 lucid dreams, Woke up completely in between each. Second night, about 6 CRAZY Vivid dreams, and 2 lucid dreams. Not sure how or why, But these bad boys work. If anyone smokes, or doesn't have a crazy weak tolerance to Nicotine, I reccomend giving this a shot, if you have troubles getting the results in your dreams that you desire. I've been trying the past 6 months, With maybe 1-2 lucid events, Nothing compared to these past 2 nights.

Let me know if anyone else got results!!

~Ryan

P.S. I don't like suggesting drug use to anyone, But with the little danger involved with Nicotine, and the strong results they carry, Just please use with caution and at your own risk. Thank you.

A very common exercise by an author i read a lot of, Practices stating " All Illusions, Disappear! " With a rather demanding and expecting tone. He states that he can literally witness many illusions and false images of expectancies, Disappear right before his eyes....

If you find yourself somewhere, and you're not sure whether or not what your looking at is really there, or an illusion, Try that ^_^..

You may be pleased with the results, and at least narrow down what you need to verify later.

G'luck!!

I usually wake up around 10:00 - 11:00 after having atleast 8 hours of sleep. I'll stay up with my coffee and such till about 12:30 - 1:00 an do all my practices than. I have a rather strange ritual, that i know isn't necessary but it works for me. I'm done by around 4:00 with everything.

Its good in mid day because I'm still somewhat physically at ease, But mentally I'm ready to start my day. Its like the mid-day nap time. Perfect conditions.

Good luck!,

Well, I drilled myself pretty hard into AP practice over the last 6-8 months. Literally practicing about 4-6 hours everyday. It became a rather numbing routine. I decided to take a week off. During that week i still read up on some things, and such. I ran across something that seemed to ring very well with me, Making perfect sense based off the experiences i had in the past.

There's an explanation of the mindset one should have during an AP attempt. The " Will-less Will " Its like the unforced focus.

It made sense that whenever you lay down and do the several attempts to " Prepare for AP " that your still more or less only doing them with that notion. This time i lied down, and went through the same procedure that i always do to induce physical relaxation, only i did it this time for each process.

I'll Elaborate. I always lay down and do 10 slow breaths. after that, i go through and mentally shut down each section of my body. After that i go through a Phasing like procedure where i mentally place myself through this sequence of movements and involvements around my house. Well this time, I did each step with nothing but FULL intent of perfecting, each process. I did the breaths NOT FOR AP, but for the relaxing effects of the breath. Same with the shutting down sections, and then the phasing, I did only for FULLING involving myself into the phase.

Well sure enough, Doing this with 100% Will on what your currently doing, and not what you want done, made what you wanted done, TO COME!..

Before i knew it, My consciousness slammed back into wakefulness, and i was swaying with my shoulders left and right, about 4" above myself. I managed to raise myself up to my ceiling, right with i felt my face hit the rough texture of what i thought was my ceiling, My eyesight formed. I was standing directly in front of a Black metal-looking wall with large steel bolts. I reached out and ran my fingers across it, It was cold to the touch. It was as if i was inside a large metal tank.....Unfortunately, the excitement brought me back =(...

However, On conclusion, This " Will-less Will " makes perfect sense. The only thought of AP during practice should be the intent in the distant part of your mind. I compared this to the Chinese finger trap. The harder you try, the farther the goal is, BUT, if you relax, and just let it happen, you get to enjoy the outcome that you were looking for =D...

I hope someone that was in the same boat as myself, Stumbles upon this, and understands what i'm trying to say.

I've trained about 11 Years in an old style Kung-Fu named Sai Do Kuda ( Ka-Ju Shintung Family, incase anyone knows their history? )

My Master ALWAYS said that once the 4th degree Black sash is acquired, ALL training is done without the body's presence. Now, when i started class, i hadn't a clue what he was talking about, but once i got alil' history in Metaphysics and OBE Exploration type knowledge, It makes sense. He used to explain things such as " Chi Sparring " which is a spar that no physical contact is made, But you would think they were beating the crap outa each other. One of the strangest things i've ever seen demonstrated, Hands down

He does talk about meeting up and training in the spirit, But i'm yet to have any Hands-On experience in that field. I haven't been to that class in over 4 years =(...

I should contact him again, now that you remind me.

I just wanted to drop my two cents in real quick, Because I'm very excited about the progress I've had lately.

William Buhlman calls this the " Target Technique " . Its VERY Similar to Phasing, However its slightly different. Choose a location that you are very familiar with. a location and path that actually DOES exist. Not imagination. Then run through the location slowly and thoroughly, interacting with multiple objects fully. Let me give an example of what i do.

I start every process outside at the edge of my driveway, at my mailbox. I imagine my hands sliding on both sides, feeling the rough grain from the black plastic. I reach up with my right thumb and place a comfortable grip on the Metal ring to open to door. Opening the mailbox, i find a stack of flash cards. I pick up the Flash cards, and begin reading them in the sequence. They read; " Congratulations. You are Out-of-Body and are beginning to highten your awareness. " I flip two the next card and it reads " 10 " Then " 9 " Etc. Slowly drops down to 1 and then the ending card is back to the beginning, That i read again, and place back into my mailbox for my next session.

I then walk to my front porch steps, Grab on to both side rails, admire the splintering wood, and take 4 slow steps until i can reach the door. I grab onto the door knob to my house, again, admiring the smooth cool silver metal, I open the door and step in. Once i get into my living room, I walk a complete circle around my living room making some form of thorough interaction with just about everything.

Now, While i do this, I try to keep a very small amount of focus on the actual direction and distance of where i am. Sure I'm 90% completely indulged into what I'm doing. But a small amount is still feeling that I'm actually " 20 Feet to my left " Kinda thing. Hard to explain, But if you try it, You'll understand what i mean.

I can stay in deepening trances for several hours without falling asleep, Or staying too alert. Its a Very beautiful and effective way to Phase. I feel its more Legit, Because its an actual place that I'm not only familiar with, but i can throw my awareness in the accurate direction.

If anyone else is willing to give this a try, I'd love to hear their results. I'll continue to post my own as well. Trust me. Do this for at least 60 Days, Daily practice. Its -WELL- worth it =D

Reminds me of a very strange experience i had a few months ago....

I was in a Lucid Dream. I would notice the environment fading away, and could myself waking up. I would consciously keep my eyes close and comfortable, and i actually remember the sensations of realigning in my body, then fading back out directly into the dream i left. Its a weird sensation feeling all your lil' physical nerves and such, then feeling yourself slip somewhere else. This happened about 3-4 times until the last time i woke up, I didn't feel the trance sensations. So i just rolled outa bed and wrote everything down..

Valid point you made though, Being able to wake up from a LD and keeping your eyes closed, would allow you to either slip out, Or slip into a LD VERY Easily. Its like convincing your body you never woke up in the first place ^_^...

Thanks for Sharing bud!,

Well,
I started doing exactly what was recommended, And instead of pressuring myself into trying desperately to project, I merely went with the flow, and just enjoyed anything that was willing to surprise me. Oddly enough, That actually led to MORE projection success. LOL. Less = More! =D

Thanks guys! ^o^;..

Anything that happens to a person, regardless of where it takes place, will leave a form of impact. that makes it real, to that individual. So if you experience it....Its real to you. Its as simple as that in my mind ^_^....

Thanks everyone, For sharing their insights with me. Its sad that even something as frightening as it was, I came out with the largest smile. I can go to hell and back, and i find it more fascinating than anything. And whatever/whoever it was that helped me, expressed a sense of love and care that i can honestly say is something that cannot be physically experienced.

I am very excited. I do believe it was a projection, by the fact that i knew nothing happened, and was in waking control. I couldn't move to save my life, and my vision was very shaky. BUT, bad, scary, or whatever, the fact remains.....I spent some time on the other side.....Which is a little experience all the same.

I will say that the tapping/knocking in the back of my head has been experienced before. During the time its happening i always respond like its painful, but than afterwords when i reflect on it, its clear that it wasn't actual " Pain " it was just unusual. I'll try to just keep clear next time.

Thanks so much guys. What would be your opinion(s) on whatever it was that helped me? Real?....Guide?....Me?....

~Za Hourou Iki

Okay, I'm going to describe in as much detail as i possibly can. First off, This was without a doubt the most profound whilst simultaneously the most frightening experience i have ever encountered.  :-o

I lied down to do another Meditational/OBE Attempt. I remember slipping in and out of sleep states when suddenly i slammed into full awareness. I felt my entire body in a very deep trance, and decided to will it into a deeper level. Sure enough, It quickly sank into a deeper level of trance. I would feel this very profound knocking/tapping almost painful vibration on the very back of my head. I was laying at an angel ( Like  " \_ " ....Like a reclined chair ) and i could feel my upper body drop through the pillows to level out flat. I knew i wasn't physically doing this obviously. Well, This happened about twice, and then I'd snap back awake, then do it again.

Well i remember the knocking becoming seriously annoying and just about painful, So i went to jump up off my bed. When i noticed i couldn't see, and i felt as if i was choking. Couldn't breath right. I looked around and just felt ridiculously confused. I then felt as if the brain in my skull started to bleed, I honestly FELT liquid pooring from the top of my head, down my face, with that knocking still tapping at the back of my head. I then completely lost it ( I know...Where i messed up )....And screamed for help. This happened after about the 2nd or 3rd false awakening.

Then, something strange happened. a very transparent figure appeared just between my feet. I could barely make out a face, Of a younger male, with a large smile. He reached towards me with both hands and said, " Here.....Just try to relax..... " I felt at complete ease, But still asked, " Wait........You are a good guy?....Right? " , He kinda chuckled, and replied, " Of course, Just relax now. "

He grabbed both my hands, and we both just slowly raised up off the bed. Not knowing exactly how or when, all of a sudden, By his lead, we were quickly jolting and flying through a dark tunnel like area. He looked at me and said " This is one of the view bad parts about it.....Its kinda like Tripping.......But its okay, Its just an accident. " ..I asked, " Accident?....What do you mean?....I was just laying down?... " He chuckled once again and replied " I know i know, Its okay.......Its kinda the same reason people tell ya not to do drugs!.. "..

The tunnel grew dark, Until i couldn't see anymore, And then i -ACTUALLY- awoke in my bed, My eyes jolted open in relief, and i just out of my bed to write it all down.

I had never experienced such discomfort in my life. I remember trying SO hard to speak to him, Ask questions, I just couldn't breath enough to get any words out. I was aware the whole time. I absolute KNEW i was just laying down in bed......What the hell kinda episode was this!?.....I can't make sense out of any of it except, Whoever/Whatever helped me.....Was 110% Genuinely Positive. I was VERY thankful at that time.

Any opinions!?

I actually tried something similar. Instead of practicing to experience an OBE, I would practice.....To practice. Simply to see what new and exciting sensations and experiences i could come across. In my mind, That would be approaching it open-minded enough to just go with the flow. But i still wind up falling asleep, Even after a good 8-10 hours of sleep =/. It's weird.

I guess i will just continue to approach things optimistically, and go with the flow until things get back to normal. I do appreciate everyone's opinion and advice though, I love these forums for just that ^_^.

Welcome to Dreams! / Re: Beautiful, Vivid music...
September 14, 2010, 13:41:36
Hello!!
I enjoyed reading your experience. It reminded me of something i used to LOVE doing when i first got into Lucid Dream practice. I'm a Musician......Guitar/Piano/Vocalist and i absolutely LOVE writing music. I would get into that In between state that you describe, and i would think of a song i was currently working on, and without any effort at all, I would hear it in full orchestration. Beautiful rhythm, lead, a vocalist i never heard before, but i absolutely LOVED it......It was one of the ways i would decide whether or not to trash the song, Or keep it, because it gave me the opportunity to hear it at its full potential.

Anyone that is a musician, I have always recommended this as a form a practice. Its almost like hearing a song you just put together, On the radio, In full stereo, by the best band you can think of ^_^..

Congratulations!

Well, I'm finding this a little strange o.O;...

For those of you that have read my previous posts, Things have been going rather well. I had several of my first fully conscience projections, Got to explore some beautiful territories, and had some wonderful breakthroughs on what exactly i have to do to successfully take advantage of such practices......But i feel i may have....Hit a rut?

I don't understand it, But I've continued my normal practice that has lead to great results, But for about a month now....Its been dead. Just falling asleep, and maybe a funky dream, Is about all that I've experienced the past month or so. I took a week break a couple weeks ago, Cleared my mind and just did regular cultivations and meditations for energy. Came back into practice, Still nothing.

Anyone else experience this?....If so, What would you recommend? Maybe switching into some different practices?.....Its weird, Because i had some of my first mind-blowing experiences just a couple months ago, doing the exact practices i'm doing now?

Hrmm?.....Any advice/opinions?   :|

Well, I'm sure the actual transition process will be different for everyone. I've experienced many different transitions. I have seen nothing but multiple shades of black, in just random formations, Slowly fade and clear up into a specific image, and i realize I'm no longer just seeing it, I'm looking AT it, Which makes me realize i must be facing/focusing towards it...

I've had vibrations and shakes, that i just hang on.....until they calm to a nice rumble, then i notice lose limbs.

And then I've had just random spurts of awareness and lucidity and its like, " Wait a minute.....Where am i!? <_<....>_>..... "

Its really just noticing at the right time, and trying to remain awake......If you cant remain awake......Try hard enough to where if you do slip out into sleep, You'll come back without interrupting trance or physical relaxation.

Hope this helps =P
