Hi. The past few years I've drifted away from all of the projection stuff having been focusing a lot on school. Fortunately, I've re-sparked my interest of it and am asking if people could just throw any good book recommendations with a sentence or two describing what they are about. I read Robert Monroe's Ultimate Journey and loved it. All that he experienced in that book helped motivate me to continue practicing and lucid experiences that he described were very intriguing. I would buy all the books if I could, but as a broke college student, I can only afford to purchase maybe one or two for now, but your recommendations will allow me to make a list for later. I've been considering purchasing Out Ultimate Reality by Adrian Cooper as is listed in one of the posts, and I've also looked at Conversations with Laarkmaa: A Pleiadian View of the New Reality by Pia Smith Orleane. If anyone has any feedback on either of these, that would also be much appreciated. Thanks!

I used to see these before, but I found that if I focused in a little bit deeper, I was actually seeing flashes of waves of colorful energy flowing throughout everything. A probably poor, but best analogy I can think of is that if you were to be on a freeway and looking straight across, as all the cars pass by, they'd appear to be much more like blurry flashes. You'd find that focusing more closely, you'd be able to "catch" the car passing allowing you to see it in much more detail. To add, I even went to an eye doctor who explained to me what floaters were and how they may appear, and I explained to him that what I was seeing did not match his description. However, he INSISTED that they were floaters, so I agreed to disagree and left.  :-D

I'm currently taking an Environmental Biology class that talks about the effect humans have on the environment. The topics discussed talk a lot about how we're using up resources necessary to maintain life faster than they can be renewed, about how humans play a major role in the increased extinction rates of various species that are necessary to support the ecological circle of life, about how increasing overpopulation is creating a heavy impact, etc. I've been thinking that perhaps we will hit a breaking point in which we will realize that our current activities will no longer be able to support human life, and we will be forced to work together to fix things disregarding social status, religion, etc. Just a thought because I remember reading a portion of the book that starts around pg. 37. It talks about when Monroe is brought to the past-earth (about 1 million years ago) and he meets other humans that talk about how they no longer have disease, but in their "history had a record of such problems many thousands of years past" (38). They also mention that they control their reproduction rates which reminded me of my class. Just delving into the idea in class haha.

I find it intriguing that after 10 years you still sense the "vibrations" in your experiences. From all that I've read on this forum, people tend to lose or simply aren't aware of those sensations after a short-while. This goes for me as well. As for the negative connotations that tend to be linked with sleep paralysis, the first few numbers of sleep paralysis experiences that I've had were pretty scary. However, there was one time when I awoke in sleep paralysis, and everything within my room was flowing with what appeared to be extremely bright & flowing bluish energy. I can see energy naturally, but I have to focus in and it's somewhat dim, so I was amazed by the sight that I was seeing whilst completely absent of fear.

I had a couple OBEs at my friend's house. I decided to walk into my friends TV and found myself falling through darkness and then began flying downwards past a megalithic WB (Warner Brothers sign) that appeared. I continued down over what appeared to be a half-animated, half-realistic environment. Characters from The Nightmare Before Christmas flew past me, and as I continued flying, I touched down near lots of other people including Pocahontas. I remember she was getting a lot of attention, almost like a celebrity, so I mentioned that the attention must a bit of an annoyance ha. In a second OBE that I had right after, I decided to walk through my friend's mirror instead. I ended up in an unfamiliar room that appeared to be some sort of "shop", and was immediately greeted by my two friends again, except they appeared as they they looked 4 years younger. I walked outside that revealed an open street and started walking down it. A large dog like animal appeared and I began to feel a bit frightened. Lately I've been having trouble because animals always appear in my OBEs and they run up to me and start to chomp on my body.
However, this time I somehow overcame this fear and it seemed as if that tamed the animal. We formed a bonding connection and I got on its back and began riding it down the street. It looked extremely similar to the Polar Bear Dog in the new Avatar: The Legend of Korra haha.

When I am flying high in the sky and over hills and valleys in my OBEs and LDs the experience does not last very long and I land back in my body.

When I am flying inside a building it seems to have no effect at all on duration. It can last a good long while.

Actually, I experience the exact same thing. Perhaps it's because when I am in a much more open environment, I tend to "free" myself and soar as fast as I can. There was one exception, however, when I had an OBE and decided to walk into my friends TV. I found myself falling and then began flying downwards past a megalithic WB (Warner Brothers sign) and then continued down over what appeared to be a half-animated, half-realistic environment. Characters from The Nightmare Before Christmas flew past me, and as I continued flying, I touched down near lots of other people including Pocahontas. I remember she was getting a lot of attention, almost like a celebrity, so I mentioned that the attention must a bit of an annoyance ha. Anywho, this was one of the few experiences I've had where I was able to fly openly without any trouble of waking. Totally forgot about it. Good thing I wrote it down in my iphone afterwards lol.

Welcome to Dreams! / dream --> lucid dream.
April 03, 2012, 04:15:54
so last night i had an interesting dream in which my friends and i went to someones house. at that house a number of people appeared friendly, but later on kidnapped my friends and killed them. it was pretty wacky and a lot of it didn't make all that much sense (except for when i was dreaming it), but basically, when searching to either find my kidnapped friends or avenge them, i was in some grocery store. i became aware that i was dreaming, but decided to keep on with my mission. however, i decided to try and speak to whomever i came into contact whilst interpreting to the best of my ability whether they were simply projections of my mind, or if they had their own objective existence. i've been reading Robert Monroe's Ultimate Journey, and i remember him talking about a reoccurring dream that he used to have and later realized that the entities that make up his higher-self had made him dream that dream. anyways, in MY dream i came into contact with some person in the store and wanted to see what they were, so i flew up to the top of the ceiling to see if they could do the same, and they did. i remember knowing his first name somehow, and asked who or what he was. he replied that he was somewhat of a computer program. he also mentioned that he was cold, and then our conversation ended the environment of my dream changed. so i figured perhaps he was just some "program" in my dream put there to be apart of my dream environment.

when my environment changed (keep in mind i'm still lucid), i arrived at an area above an extremely high cliff that overlooked a large and beautiful valley. i looked around and there were a bunch of large, stone sculptures of birds that closely resembled owls but were still somewhat different in appearance. my assumption was that they may have been actual size of the birds they resembled. as i looked around at each sculpture, a sudden flash picture of an actual animal resembled by the statues appeared before my eyes which only lasted a second or two. after seeing this, i felt like i was put into auto-pilot. i turned toward the cliff and started running until i launched off the edge and began flying. i've flown many many times before in dreams & while astral projecting, but something about this experience made it feel much more amazing. i even remember hearing epic music as if i was in a movie lol. anywho, as i woke up out of my dream while flying over the valley.

good for you! and i mean that with no sarcasm lol. although, i haven't really given much time to practice ap, the things that i've experienced and continue to experience spontaneously through AP and an open mind have helped me immensely the past year or so. i don't know you, but good to know you're doing well haha! happy holidays :)

Sounds like it to me, but you could offer more specific information such as any bodily sensations that you felt, whether or not you remember shifting back into physical consciousness and "waking up".

I agree kailaurius

Why does the end of the world have to be approaching to do those things? Living in the NOW is living your passions NOW, not needing an excuse to do them. In this case, fear of an end and not being able to do anything ever again. Do it because you want to, not because you won't be able to later.

I don't necessarily fear the end. Simply put, if I knew the world was going to end in a year, I'd probably take part in various activities that I normally would have waited to do later. That's all I'm saying. I'm living in the NOW enjoying life, but since I don't necessarily believe the world is going to "end", I'm going to school for a future past 2012, and I'm saving money to use after 2012. If the end of the world in 2012 were confirmed and factual, I'd probably change up my current schedule.

So earlier today, I woke up in sleep paralysis with my eyes open. I wasn't sure if I was in sleep paralysis, so I closed my eyes and attempted to exit my body. Separation felt very difficult. I recall noticing that having attempted to separate, I was now "flipped" as If I had made an instant 180* turn and instead of laying on my stomach, I was now on my back. I felt that I had separated and assumed that I would be able to see my physical body, but I wasn't able to. The confusion ended the short projection, and I found my consciousness back in my physical body laying face down with a blanket over my body. Now, I was still in paralysis having returned back physical consciousness and I felt physical movement scurring up and down my body. I could feel and hear the movement perfectly as if it were real, and I even feeling the animal jump over from my left side to my right. One moment, the animal actually attempted to get under my blanket by sticking its feet and nose under. By now, I was pretty like wtf. The moment I was able to get out of paralysis, I hopped out of bed, took my blanket and shook it at a reasonable distance so that if the animal were to fall out from it, I'd be able to fend it off or evade it if it decided to run. I was pretty much like -____- having waited for half a minute and realizing that there was no mouse haha. Anyways, I felt like it was worth posting because I RARELY ever think about mice. They aren't something I fear. It was super super random.

Welcome to Out of Body Experiences! / Re: Fish
October 19, 2011, 04:03:22
This is pretty much all up to your interpretation. You experienced it first-hand so chances are what YOU think or what your instinct leans toward is most probable. Perhaps you could google fish symbolism and see if you find any correlation between that and your life. If you have pet fish, maybe one of them was astral projecting too ;P

Sure you could call all the 2012 stuff irrelevant, but it wouldn't hurt to know what may or may not happen within the next year or so. I don't believe the world is going to end, but I'm hoping that SOMETHING will happen in accordance with all the ancient prophecies and stuff. If I knew mankind were going to be extinct within the next year, I wouldn't necessarily live in the NOW. I wouldn't be able to change my fate, but I'd probably I fit in things to my schedule things I wouldn't have planned on doing such as skydiving or stuff like that. If there were to be vast amounts of natural disasters and I knew it, I wouldn't live in the NOW and just wait for it to happen. I'd probably plan ahead and take necessary action to survive that way I can live longer to experience and grow spiritually. You could do a lot in the right here right now that would definitely make a difference in the future. Just sayin'.

Welcome to Dreams! / Intense Emotional Dream
October 09, 2011, 19:12:07
So basically, from what I can recall, I found myself with a large group of friends returning to a large hotel-like building of some sort. I just want to point out that this hotel seems to be a reoccurring location for many of my dreams. Whenever it pops up, I find myself familiar with the surroundings. For example, in a separate dream in which I was having a magic flying fight with someone, I was trying to escape and I flew into an elevator, as if I knew exactly where it was. Anyways, after returning from this trip, we were all saying our goodbyes. I only said goodbye to those in which I "knew" in the dream. I felt like the people I was saying bye to were cousins. Mind, in real life, I wouldn't recognize them. After the goodbyes, my dream shifted ahead, and I found myself in one of the hotel rooms. I don't remember what I was doing, but a friend of mine popped out of nowhere and startled me. It was a girl who in real life I wouldn't recognize, but in the dream, she was like a best friend. The whole night, we stayed up chatting and sharing laughs and doing whatever other stuff I can't remember, but later that night or early early morning, I received a text saying a girl had died. (When I woke up from my dream, I wrote down that her name was Cassie so I'm gonna trust my instinct and go with that name). After I received that text, she disappeared. I believe we may have said goodbye and THEN I received the text, but I'm unsure. The next morning, my dream shifted forward again, and I found myself outside. My mom was telling me that a girl had passed away, but I was confused and told her that it was pretty much impossible because I was with her the whole night. After a number of seconds of confusion, I got hit with a blast of emotional distress, and I pretty much broke down in heavy tears. I quickly turned away and speed-walked my way back towards the hotel. While I was walking/breaking down, a girl whom I recognize to be a friend of mine or a model that looks like her (lol), appeared behind me out of nowhere and gave me some emotional support in one sentence. She told me something about the importance of friends or assured me that I had friends. I don't remember exactly, but it was something friends. This girl appeared in that dream earlier and I felt from her presence that she was guiding me and wasn't just some projection from memory. Anyways, I woke up devastated for a moment. I actually felt like a friend of mine had really passed away or something. The thing is, I've never broken down like that in real life, so I found it highly unusual that I experienced such emotion for the first time in a dream.

Yea, thats true it doesnt really matter the category. never really saw it like that but its so simple right? lol

It could be seen as that simple, but it doesn't hurt to ask questions about the state or nature of your non-physical experience. I've had experiences that are quite similar to the movie inception. I've had dreams where I astral project within the dream. I'll be sleeping in a completely different room IN MY DREAM and I'll even feel the vibrations and all that stuff IN MY DREAM and then I'll have a projection IN MY DREAM.

why do you say that?

The experience of the "dark" void is not to be confused with 'dark' experience. Sometimes darkness is just a pure and simple lack of input... a simple experience of peace... a lack of complexity. Focus.

To answer the question;

Yes. I have experienced this Christmas Light phenomena.

Sometimes, for me, the astral looks a LOT like this artist's work;

I like how your name is Rudolph and we're talking about the "Christmas Light" Phenomena haha. I have a few paintings from that artist in my house too actually. But anyways, thanks! I just needed to see if anyone else has seen such things and come to understand what they are and why they look that way.

Before you project be sure to have a positive mindset and clear yourself of negativity. When i project i either project in the morning, or after meditation. Helps prevent "dark" experiences.

~astraladdict

oh my mindset is clear. i don't find them negative or scary at all. i just find it peculiar that i'm seeing these types of things.

So, in one of my earliest OBE's, I saw the figure of a clown on my ceiling of which its body seemed to be made up of what looked most similar to christmas lights. Last week, I went to colorado to visit my grandparents, and I had a pretty confusing OBE in which I rolled off the couch. I fell to the floor and my vision was quite dark so I began spinning because I wasn't sure if I were actually having an OBE or if I was spinning on the floor like an idiot lol. While spinning, I entered some sort of dark void (I'm not sure what else to call it), in which it seemed like I were in a tornado of sorts kind of like the one from the Wizard of Oz. I kept seeing the strangest images, but the only one that I can recall and that stood out the most was a half spider-half human entity made up of the same christmas light-type body. I'm just curious if anyone has seen anything similar to the whole christmas light thing.

i've watched documentaries about abduction phenomenon in which people find strange objects implemented into their bodies and under their skin. i think i remember hearing something about how mysterious it was that the human body didn't reject the objects and that they gave on some sort of signal, but stopped when removed.

probably because theyre in it for the high and not with the intent to invent.

FWIW, I've experienced the "earthquake" (once) and vibrations (many times) - and IMO they are totally different phenomena. The "quake" feels external; the vibrations feel internal. Vibrations (for me) don't shake the whole house.

Also with the quake there was no paralysis - I jumped right up, and was about to run into my daughter's room and get her under the bed. Of course I found myself on my feet in a completely quiet and still house.

I can only assume that something or someone wanted to get my attention, because at the time I was just shrugging it off as a weird dream state.

i agree in that they do feel very different. i'm considering the possibility that the "earthquake" sensation may be due to vibrations in a much more body awake state.

I saw something very similar. It was either a projection or a very very VERYYY vivid dream (although again, i'm learning they aren't all that different and may very much be the same in certain aspects), but have you ever seen Harry Potter? I was in a town environment very much like Godric's Hollow. If you haven't seen the movie, a quick google image search will prove sufficient. It was dark and eerie and I was walking on a street and the "reaper-like" entity was down the street. When I approached it, I couldn't quite depict what it's face looked like. It was definitely not a human face. It was hovering above the ground and seemed to be wearing a hooded cloak. Something tells me that I was communicating with it telepathically or it was communicating with me telepathically, but for some reason, whenever I end up back in the physical, I simply cannot remember any of the communication. Perhaps, our conversation is stored in my semi-conscious. Either way, I did not feel any "evil" in its presence. (I think we've talked about this before lol.) I remember watching a television show that before the "Black Death" or the Plague hit certain towns in Europe back in Medieval times, people sited "grim-reaper" like entities on the outskirts of their town. Maybe there's some reason behind this or maybe they were just scaring themselves :P

BUT TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION.. yeah, that looks pretty similar to what I saw.

Your doubts will definitely hold you back ESPECIALLY if you are fully aware of how negatively they affect one's ability to project. I'm not entirely sure how you base your doubts, but my advice would simply be to trust yourself. As for your fear, it's a common natural feeling that you know best how to overcome. Understand that you have REALLY have nothing to fear but fear itself.
