Welcome to Astral Chat! / New guy says Hi
October 05, 2003, 16:22:53
Hi.
New guy here, just wanted to say hello. I stumbled on to this
site while doing some research and was immediately sucked in
and have spent the last few hours reading over the volumes of
interesting thoughts and ideas that reside here. I have been
intrigued by the "occult" ever since I was about 15 years old
and fifteen years later it still fascinates me. I am most
impressed by the amount of genuinely entertaining and
enlightening posts here, a very refreshing change from many
of the forums that I have visited in the past dealing with
similar subjects. Anyhow, glad to be here and I look forward
to reading some more of your thoughts and perhaps contributing
where I feel I might be able to provide some interest or insight.

There's also the occasional possessed dictator causing massive holocausts against defenseless people, and that includes killing little babies.

I mean, sheesh!  How fun can it be?  Evil people should really think about it.

There are different degrees to everything.
Sure, I might sleep with your wife while you are out of town on buissiness, but that doesn't mean that I would get off on murdering
infants or molesting your dog.

People like me are the reason that societies have laws and a punishment system to enforce them.

The only thing that I could think of as worse than existing in this
reality, would be existing in this reality locked inside of a cage.

I'll give you a couple of examples:
I drive the speed-limit. Do I do so because I have some moral concern
for the safety of others on the road with me?
Absolutely not.
I drive the speed-limit because if a cop catches me speeding, he is
going to write me a ticket which will cost me hard-earned money.

There are more than a few people that have crossed me in my life.
They are still alive only because of societies laws and the punishment
system to back up those laws.

When I was younger, I struggled alot with this, eventually I came to
the conclusion that it would be far better just to admit to and be
comfortable with the fact that to play by anyone else's rules but my
own, would be to deny myself what little comfort I can find on this
miserable rock.

What is the attraction of the left hand path?

For me personally, it's mostly about freedom, with a pinch of pride,
ego, lust, spite and a desire for vengeance thrown in for good measure.

Freedom:
Serving yourself and your own desires first above all others,
gods and devils included.

ego/pride:
Endeavoring to reshape the universe to your own model rather than the other way around. Futile? Maybe, see spite.

Lust:
Pursuing physical-reality attachments/desires without guilt, no matter
what methods employed to obtain such desires.

Spite/desire for vengeance:
Vengeance for what? Existence.
I never asked for this existence, so don't expect me to play by the rules of a game that I never wanted to play in the first place, and
I will do everything in my power to diametrically oppose myself from
whoever/whatever is responsible for my existence whether they/it be
a deity, higher-self, aliens or whatever. So, I attempt to numb the
pain of existence with self-aggrandizement and base desires until such
time that the enemy surrenders and negates my existence, whether it
takes one lifetime or a million.

I know of a technique. To use it, you must first get into the right
proximity and circumstances with the object of your desire, which
oftentimes is half the battle anyway.

During conversation, wait for an opportune moment to briefly look away,
close your eyes for a few seconds and then immediately look her straight in the eyes while visualizing a 2-dimensional crescent moon shape flying
from your eyes directly into hers. The "horns" of the moon shape should
line up with your pupils as if it were a shape cut out of paper lying
flat.
Closing your eyes first, dialates your pupils which is a subconscious
innuendo of sorts.
Timing and subtlety are of course very important. This won't make her
immediately want to jump your bones, but it can help to get things moving in your favor. What you do before and after you use the technique is just as important.

Well, I've only managed to get out once, very briefly, but it was enough to silence the skeptic within me and convince me that this OBE stuff was for real. The only piece of jewelry I wear is a silver earring in my left ear, I was wearing it at the time.

Yes, you can get them there, or any other place that has a gardening section. Just remember that the commercial seeds are coated with a chemical that will make you sick. Erowid has a section on Morning Glory seeds, I would start your research here:

http://www.erowid.org/experiences/exp.php?ID=15529

This individual describes a very powerful experience, mine were nothing that extreme. Here's the thing, this guy took MUCH less
than I did and I weigh only 30 pounds more than him. A perfect example of how different people are affected differently.

Nutmeg: All I can say about nutmeg is STAY AWAY.
I tried it once, and it was one of the most unpleasant experiences
of my life. It definitely has psychotropic properties, as it contains
a chemical compund very similar to MDMA (ecstasy). The problem is, you will be too busy vomiting your guts out and dealing with a jackhammer headache to pay any attention to the "effects". Not to
mention that the hangover with the aforementioned side effects lasts for two days. If you want to truly know what it feels like to honestly pray for death ,then go ahead, otherwise stay away.

Morning Glory Seeds: I have tried this twice, both times with pleasant effects. The seeds contain lysergic acid amide, which is one molecule away from LSD (D-lysergic acid diethyl amide). The experience
is very similar to street LSD, though softer and not as powerful. In my experience I got the same thinking patterns as with LSD, but only light visual and auditory hallucinations. Of course, both times I took signifigantly less than the amount suggested for a full-on psychedelic experience. One thing to think about: commercial seeds are
deliberately coated with a noxious chemical to discourage ingestion, so unless you soak them in water for 24 hours and then rinse them again prior to use, you will get very sick. Also, possesion of the seeds is legal, but ingestion of the seeds is not.

Datura:
I have experimented with both Datura Stramonium and Datura Meteloides, but VERY cautiously. The alkaloids in this plant family are so strong that they are classified as deleriants rather than hallucinogens. Think 100 times stronger than LSD. I have only taken threshold doses, gradually increased with a signifigant time-lapse in between attempts. The only effects I have experienced from the small doses I have taken are extremely vivid, lucid dreams. The problem with Datura is that the line between a psychoactive dose and a fatal dose is razor thin, and can vary from person to person and from plant to plant. The hallucinations described by those who have taken fully psychoactive doses are described as being completely indescernable from reality, so you can see how this alone could get you into trouble. She is very alluring, I say She, because Datura is more than just a simple plant. She is the embodiment of primal female energy. Just ask anyone who has kept one, She has a prescence all her own and she must be treated with the utmost respect.

Disclaimer:
I won't go into dosages or preparation methods, there is plenty of that on the net, as some have already referenced above. Just remember, if you try any of this you are playing with fire and taking your life into your own hands. A "safe" dose for one person can be a fatal one for another. To go in without doing the proper research is asking for trouble, and even after much research you are still playing Russian Roulette.

Kinda like a dog with seven pupils in its eye
Kinda like a madness that refuses to subside
Kinda like everything you want, just within your grasp
Kinda like how a banshee-wail dances on a living heart

I'm gonna stand at the top of the world
And challenge the heavens
Gonna bring you god
Gonna bring you god
In the palm of my left hand black
Gonna bring you god

Kinda like when the sun goes down and darkness makes its climb
Kinda like all your muscle tissue starting to unwind
Kinda like if you brave the hate, feed it to the left hand black
How I know I can take their power, send it back at triple times its grandeur

I'm gonna stand at the top of the world
And challenge the heavens
Gonna bring you god
Gonna bring you god
In the palm of my left hand black, yea
Gonna bring you god

How I see the battle and the bleeding human race
How I miss the taste of it, its sweet and warm embrace
How I see the world's demise, its last and final gasp
How I see reality explode into another kind of madness

I'm gonna stand at the top of the world
And challenge the heavens
Gonna bring you god
Gonna bring you god
In the palm of my left hand black, yea
Gonna bring you god

Gonna bring you god
Gonna bring you god
In the palm of my left hand black, yea
Gonna bring you god

I am having the same problem that you are. Since recently finding this site I have been trying some of the techniques described here
with some success but I am getting stuck in the same place that you are. The first obstacle I had to overcome was the "fear factor" as
my first OBE experience was spontaneous and very frightening because
at the time I had very little knowledge of this subject. I have now gotten past that and learned to ignore the strange noises (most of the time) and the sensations akin to my cat jumping up on the bed with me when I know damn well that he is outside. I was pleasantly surprised the first time I was able to see the room I was in through closed eyes, however like you, my surprise ended the experience. Just the other day I had a closed eye vision while attempting to project.
It was like looking through a keyhole and getting a glimpse of something. Whatever it was, it was definitely alive. It was moving and even seemed to be beckoning me (I concede that I can't be certain of the beckoning part because I had just a flash of it)
This inspired me to try even harder, which I think turned out to be counterproductive. Once I decided to give it a rest and not try so hard, similar phenomena started to re-occur on their own without trying at all. At this point my strategy is to just take advantage of these experiences when they occur on their own and see how it works out. One thing I have noticed is that the closed eye vision etc. seem more prone to occur when I am very tired but alert at the same time. Like when you stay up for a day or so without sleep, your body is very tired but your mind has made it past the "wall", so you are alert even though you are exhausted.

Hello Datura,
cool name btw.
The above link leads to a piece of software called mindsync.
If you have not heard of it, it is basically a "white noise" generator
with the added benefit of the ability to produce inaudible sound waves
which can be fine tuned to achieve a desired brainwave pattern.
I just thought it may be a solution to your problem.

I beleive that the Authors warning was just in reference to actually attempting to perform any of the rituals described there. However, if
you don't want to read about summoning demons and the like, your instincts may be right. I thought that it had relevance to this thread
in that the ritual described there uses a black mirror placed in the center of the 'triangle of the art' which is basically a symbol in the shape of a triangle insciribed with sacred names of God, etc. The purpouse of this combination and the ritual that goes with it is to summon demons to ask questions, do your bidding or what have you.
I don't practice magic of any kind (I just like to read about it) so I don't know if this is possible, but it struck me that it might be possible that someone using a black mirror and a triangle for astral projection, might end up getting more than they bargained for, so to speak. With all the stories of encounters with 'demons' or 'negative entities' posted here, I just thought that it may be something to consider.

http://www.coasttocoastam.com/shows/2003/10/10.html#demon

This is an interesting article that is up on the main page at the moment. It reminds me of a similar experience that I had while I was
a freshman in high-school.

A friend of mine let me borrow a record of his by the band Styx.
Yes, a record, this was before cd's lol.
Anyway, he told me to play it backwards as there were backwards
messages on it. So naturally, being 15 years old I was like "COOL!"
I took the record home and listened to it, found the portions
where the messages were and then played it backwards. The first
message I found was the same latin phrase found on a US dollar.
"Annuit coeptis, novus ordo seclorum" Which I beleive means
"A new order of the ages" or something to that effect. The other
message I found said "Satan holds the secret." There were other
messages, but either they were spoken in another language or I was
not playing them at the right speed, so I was unable to understand
them. This is where it get's weird.
That very night, sometime around 3am, the phone next to my bed rang
and woke me up. I answered it and was greeted by a thin and raspy
voice that said "Let's party again." My first response to this was
"What? Who is this?" The voice answered, "You know me, let's party
again." At this point I was getting a little agitated and replied,
"I do NOT know you, WHO is this?" As soon as I finished the question
I heard through the phone the sound of the exact same song that
contained the messages playing. I very nearly lost control of my
bladder and my blood ran cold. I instantly hung up the phone and
spent the rest of the night in the living room, awake, with all of
the lights on. The next morning I asked my parents if they had heard the phone ring, they said no. I went to school and at this point I
had convinced myself that the friend that had let me borrow the
record was playing some kind of trick on me. I confronted him with
this and he empahtically denied it, not to mention the fact that the
voice had a very eerie and unearthly tone to it that I find it hard
to beleive that my friend could emulate. I don't know what happened
that night, but I do know that it frightened me so much that to this day I very rarely speak of it and even now, while posting this I am
having cold chills and every hair on the back of my neck is standing on end just from remembering it. Oh, btw, if anyone is wondering, the
record is the one that has the song "domo arigato" , though I don't recall if this is the name of the album itself.

I remember a technique, I think is more used in witchcraft. You use a black mirror. The mirror should be circular, and have a frame in the shape of a triangle.
Using a circular piece of glass, from the glass shop, make sure they polish the edges first, and spray paint it black. Then just frame it witha triange frame ! easy. You look into the glass to the black background, giving a shadowy, see through image of yourself, which is similar to the image of etheric and other bodies. The symbloism would be fire and air, which would make sence.
Makes a nice ornament too. Especially if the edges of the mirror, are bevelled

I would be careful of black mirrors and triangles. Just something
to think about, if you beleive in such things.

"Impossible, since all it is is an exchange of energy. But interesting thought, what would happen if you could get an astral being pregnant?"

There are many traditions that beleive such a thing is entirely possible and is in fact the motive behind a visitation by a succubus.
Read about Lilith, who was Adams first wife before Eve and
also the first succubus. Lilith didn't like being subservient to Adam
so she left the garden, ended up having sex with an angel named Sammael, and her offspring became what we now know as demons. Supposedly, when a succubus has intercourse with a human male she has offspring from the union in the form of a bouncing baby demon.

"if you thought I was talking about comercials,
I will write something about the human brain.
that is the page 13 of Sophia Wellbeloved´s book "Gurdjiew":

"Associations are made mechanically between an inner state,
e.g. happiness, and some accidental occurence, e.g sound.
Thereafter the sound will trigger happiness.
Man´s world concept is entirely defined by the character and quantity of those associations."

What you are talking about is called Neuro-Linguistic Programming.
Basically, it's a form of hypnosis that uses language as a tool to
speak directly to the subconscious mind of someone without their
knowledge. By doing this, adept practitioners can influence
someones thought process in order to get them to do something
that they may otherwise resist. Salesman and professional public
speakers have been known to use it. One of it's tenets is "Whatever you can get a person to imagine, will be perceived as their own
original thought and therefore will not be resisted."

In NLP, the "associations" you refer to are called anchors.
Anchors can be anything related to the five senses. They can be
planted into someones subconscious at a time the person is experiencing a certain state of mind or emotion that the practitioner would like to be able to recall at a later date.

These anchors can then by triggered at a later date causing
the person in which the anchor was placed to instantaneously
re-experience the emotions and or state of mind that they were
feeling at the time the anchor was placed. A good example of this
is when you hear a song on the radio that you haven't heard in
a long time and it makes you think of an experience you had
near the last time you heard it or when it was popular or whatever.
If the emotions that you have associated with the song are strong enough, it can actually make you relive that experience on some level.

I beleive that I may have had a spontaneous OBE once, it was either that or I was attacked by something. I never actually left my body, but the sensation was terrifying to say the least. Basically the experience consisted of an intense buzzing in my ears, full body paralysis and the strongest feeling of utter malignancy that I have ever felt in my life. I had absolutely no doubt that "something" was with me and remember having the perception (not actual sight of) but the perception of what I can best describe as a bright ball of electric energy descending down on me. I tend to pride myself on
not having many fears, but this was the first and only time I have ever experienced fear to such a degree. If I could have done so I would have screamed my head off, but I couldn't even move , let alone speak. The experience seemed to last for about five minutes(I'm sure it was less time than that, but that is how I perceived it).
For about the next week after that, I would wake up with paralysis in my legs which would instantly go away once I was fully awake. I have since read that these symptoms are often common in an OBE, and have tried to consciously project several times since, but I think that the memory of the experience and the fear of it's reocurrence has held me back.
