Wow, congratulations! You remind me so much of myself the other night. I'm not experienced in any sense and (on a whim with not much knowledge on the subject of astral projection) tried to project three nights ago. I was sort of skeptical while reading about it, but wanted to see if anything would happen if I tried. I fell asleep late that night and woke up later on during the night around 3 (except, I think I woke up. This rational, skeptical side of me keeps wanting to say it was just a dream, but I know in my heart that I experienced something..no doubt about it). I was in a relaxed, calm state so I thought it would be a good time to start visualizing.
I began by visualizing my 'astral body' leaving the physical. I started with my arms and then to my whole body. After visualizing for a bit, I immediately started to feel vibrations all throughout my body (it felt similar to the vibrations one feels while standing close to loud music). I was NOT expecting to feel anything whatsoever while going in, so this definitely made my heart begin to race. Despite my racing heart, I kept visualizing and holding on...that's when I started to hear noises. The sound I heard was a low, bass-like pulsating sound (the only way I can describe it was a low WOMP WOMP WOMP WOMP). I had never in my life heard auditory sounds come from out of nowhere, so again, my heart began to race. When this bass-like noise began, I opened my eyes (in fear) and my vision was blurry and shaky. It was as if there was an internal earthquake going on within me and everything in my view was shaking. Like I stated before, I was not in any way expecting ANYTHING to happen, so when I experienced this, I got scared. Right before I stopped visualizing, I faintly heard popping in my ears. I squinted my eyes wanting for it to go away. I can't remember anything after that and I assume I fell asleep. Despite my fear, I can honestly say it was one of the most bizzare, amazing experiences I've ever had. When I woke up the next morning, I ran to my sister as well and she laughed at me too!
I've always been on the fence about these kinds of things, but whatever happened the other night has definitely made me more of believer. I'm now frustrated at myself for stopping because I seriously think I could have gone farther if I had not gotten afraid, but I'm happy I had the experience I had nonetheless
I still find it rather strange that I was able to get so close on a first try. I can only assume that I was visualizing and doing the right things. I've had natural occurring lucid dreams since childhood and I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it at all. Hmm..
