I used the term "sitting there" loosely, I was actually lying down.

And This is the only time it's happened, I'm not proficient enough to test it again but I hope to eventually.

The key for me was looking as hard as I could down and to a side with my "astral eyes" I guess, but I felt like they were my real eyes. It really was like half my brain was falling asleep/entering the vibes. I can only imagine what would have happened if half of me projected :)

Does this pique no one's interest?

I wonder if this experience was analogous to how some dolphins and sharks will sleep with half their brain at a time, presumably possible in humans too. Try what I did and see if you get similar results, could be revolutionary!

Thanks for the tips! I'll keep at it, it seems like it'll be rewarding in the end!

I was meditating last night to project and hadn't hit the vibes yet. My eyes were part way open but I think they were my astral eyes at this point (even though I hadn't projected). Just sitting there meditating in a trance, I looked down and to the right real hard and all the sudden my right eye "shut off" and I saw flashing colors and felt the vibes on the right side of my head. It literally felt like just that half of my brain was gonna project.

I focused my eyes back up in front of me and it stopped, I could see again. Then I looked down and to the left and the same thing happened to the opposite half of my brain. I then looked straight down as far as I could and with both sides buzzing I projected.

I kind of meant to experiment with it more before projecting but it was also kinda scary, thought I could mess myself up...

Any experiences like this?  :? Someone good should try it out and see if you can split your mind!

Welcome to Astral Chat! / Did I AP?

Experience #1: I went from meditation -> trance -> vibes -> feeling out of my body but everything was black. Finally after trying for a while I "opened my eyes" to find myself on a foreign planet in a very dream like setting, not even close to reality. Spent a short minute there before I accidentally woke up.

Experience #2+3: I woke up in the middle of the night to meditate, and upon doing breathing exercises for a short time I found that I had pretty much lost consciousness but did retain some self-awareness. Then out of the blue I had some very light vibes and I found myself in a dream where a group of us had to go do some stuff in a futuristic haunted house. I feel like I was aware, but not enough to control the dream, just what I did in it. We got chased by a demon of sorts so I had us all return to our bodies. From there, I woke up inside another dream where we were in a futuristic place and I was sitting there "in my body". I looked at one of my buddys and said "I am going back in there". I meditated in the dream and felt the trance and even some light vibes as I projected back into the haunted house. I was there for a while and now that I think about it I must have just fallen asleep somewhere along the lines. When I woke up for real I barely remembered all of this. And mixed into all that was some stuff that was definitely plain old dreaming, no consciousness.

Is this what AP is like? Or is this more along the lines of LD? It had barely any semblance of reality and I never found myself near my real body. I also felt like although I knew I was dreaming, I didn't "know" that enough to do a whole lot about it. Occasionally in there I was just regular dreaming.

What am I doing wrong? Any suggestions for a real AP experience?

Suffice to say.. if you aren't thinking 'wow... this is something new and amazing' then you are just having a bog standard dream.

Wait, what do you mean? My dreams are pretty out there... rarely reminiscent of day to day life...

Is astral projection more than being lucid while dreaming? After a couple years of trying it on and off, I've done it twice and I feel like both times it wasn't much more than dreaming. It didn't feel super real, but

1.) are there different levels of lucid dreaming?
2.) can you stay out as long as you want? (I couldn't...)

I DID IT! I just about gave up after like an hour of sitting there in the heavy body state, but I also didn't want to shed the trance. I decided just to tinker around with telekinesis, not like I thought I could but it was mildly entertaining to try it in that state. Nothing worked, so I thought, "one more try, let me see if I can strum my guitar across the room"... It worked! I was shocked so I tried it again and it worked again (probably not for real, but maybe astrally). Next thing I know everything went black and I hit the vibes. After a second of trying to get out I guess I did but everything was black for a minute and I was feeling around in the dark. When I came to I had an adventure on another  planet for a couple minutes.

It still kinda felt like a dream, not like I was really out of my body, but I did have limited control. Then I felt myself loosing it and I woke up after a couple minutes of the experience.

Are real AP events more realistic than dreams, was that just lucid dreaming? How long can you stay out?

So would this be a normal occurrence:

This morning when I tried it I was meditating and my mind would drift off and I would pull it back on focus. I mildly fell asleep, not all the way and only for maybe a minute, and when I became aware again I was in that heavy body state. Do you ever drift out of awareness and back in in a deeper trance? Actually that's reminiscent of every time I've felt the vibes sort of. Every time I ever felt the vibes I fell flat asleep meditating and would experience the vibes in the middle of the night....

So correct me if I'm wrong but for now I just need to continue through the heavy body phase maintaining a cleared mind, but maybe thinking a little of what I wanna do when I project?

Thanks for your help!

I tried AP a lot a few years ago and I'm real familiar with what the vibes are but since I've been trying to pick it back up these past couple months I just can't get back to them. I even projected once in a year of trying but gave it up so now I'm getting back to it.

In meditation I can get to the state where my body feels super heavy and I'm not really as aware of it. I can get there consistently but not past that point. I think from the lit I've read that the next part after that state where your body is falling asleep is the vibes. How do I get the vibes from this state?

Thanks for your help!
