Hello

Try searching the word "Mindfold" in the Forum search engine at the top right hand corner of the page here. Do it from the Forum "Home" page, otherwise you will only get a search from the Sub-Forum you are currently in. There you will find that many people, including myself, that had this problem as well.

In the threads you will read through the search engine, you will find different ways to rectify this problem.

But in the end I found this to be a "self initiated" block, kind of a test of sorts, to see your willingness and determination to overcome it. It can and will be beat, that's if you are willing to "confront" and overcome these circumstances.

Good luck!  :-)

Awesome! Thanks so much for shining a light. I appreciate the understanding for my lack of forum etiquette. I'm not too well versed on the technically side of projecting or else I would have used the search. Thanks again!

So I've picked back up on my attempts at projecting lately. Out of about 10 attempts I've reached 2 that were very close, I think, but I've hit the same roadblock on both those attempts. Here's whats happening:

I wake up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom. I get back into bed and get into a comfortable position. I usually either choose to focus on breathing or focus my eyes towards the center of my forehead. I find these two methods are the best way to keep myself conscious and awake. All the usual happens i.e. itching, tingling, etc etc. I eventually go completely numb where it feels like the only thing that is a part of me are my eyes. I can almost feel as though my consciousness is lifting out and moving up away from my body. Here's where the roadblock is. At a certain point in this numb lifting feeling, my eyes lids begin to shake and move very rapidly in what almost feels like my body trying to force them open. Soon after, my eyes begin to water and I have no choice in opening my eyes.

Its pretty frustrating because I'm literally at the point where I am experiencing the most insane sensation I have ever felt in my life, which I'm assuming is the beginning of a projection.

Have you guys experienced this before? If so, any tips on getting passed it?

Nice. Thank you!

Awesome! Thanks for the info and encouragement.

If you don't mind, could I ask you where I can find some literature that described the stages that you are speaking of (F10 etc.)?

After I get the 3-4 hours of sleep should I stay up for a little before attempting or can I wake up and start right away?

Hi everyone,

My name is Brian and I'm a complete newb to Astral Projection, OBE, and Lucid Dreaming. I've read Astal Dynamics by Robert Bruce and numerous articles online. I've just began to dive into these forums and there is a bunch of stuff I still dont understand.

Anyway, I've made numerous attempts to project and have failed every time. Below is a description of what happens most of the time. Sorry if it get lengthly.

I start by laying on my back arms relaxed on my side. I focus on my breathing and try to clear my mind as well as I can. After about 15 min I start to feel my feet and hands tingle and go sort of numb. There have been a few time where they ached a little. I just ignore everything and try to stay completely still. Soon the numbing tingle takes over my whole body. At about this time it starts to get really hard to keep my mind clear. A few times I have accidentally fallen asleep. What I've found though, is that when I accidentally fall asleep and catch myself I will woke up to feeling deeper into the numbness. There have been time where I feel "separated" from my body to the point where it feels like it doesn't even exists. But even with that I have yet to get any vibrations or exit my body.

SIDE NOTE:

There was one incidence a few years ago that might be of interest to some of you. It was the morning after a failed attempt. I was laying face down and had woken up for some reason. I decided to try to fall back asleep and the moment I shut my eyes again I began to hear what sounded like a train in my room! After about 2 seconds I could see through my shut eyes and everything was in sort of a light red hue. I was convinced it was a projection. I sat up and looked at my own body laying there. I decided to float backwards toward my wall and drift through it. Once outside there was a stair case that normally wasn't there. Once I saw that I figured it really wasn't an OBE but a lucid dream. I went out to the street and met a young kid that was telling me I could fly. I attempted to fly towards the trees but could only jump really high. Thats all I really can remember.

Anyway, am I close? what am I doing wrong and what can I do to get closer to a successful exit.

Hey everyone, my name is Brian. I've been interested in AP for a while now but only started practicing a couple weeks ago due to my intense schedule (I'm a struggling musician).

I've been working out of the book Astral Dynamics by Robert Bruce. I've read and thought about all the steps needed to achieve a projection and I feel I have a fairly good conceptual grasp on them.

I am able to successfully clear my surface mind and enter in what I believe is a light trance state without a problem ever time. I've also had mild success in placing my body awareness outside of my physical body. I can pretty easily place myself in other parts of my home and even floating above myself in my bedroom.

Last night I think I entered into the deepest trance state I have yet to to encounter. My body became somewhat tingly and began to feel almost numb. As that happened I tried using the rope, ladder, and rolling out technique described by Robert Bruce. I was in this state for about 15-20 minutes before I gave up. Needless to say the projection failed.

Was wondering if you guys could help guide in the right direction or maybe even suggest some literature for me. I understand I have a lot more practicing to do.

Also, I set up a playing card face up high above my dresser. In Astral Dynamics, Bruce suggest this so that during your first projection you can float up to the card, remember it and test if you actually projected or not. Has anyone successfully done this before?

Excited and hope to hear back from you guys. Thanks.
