I've always heard that the difference was that an OBE was in the RTZ (real-time zone, very Earth like) and AP was at other vibrational states.  However, manuel is right on the money.

Welcome to Astral Consciousness! / Problems with AP

I can give you a couple of quick examples of phasing that you may recognize.  Have you ever had the 'stares'?  You are just looking off into space thinking about something.  The important thing to note is that you are focused completely on what you are thinking about and have forgotten your physical body.  It usually ends with someone waving their hands in front of your face and saying something witty like, "Earth to ___, come in ___"

At that point, you become aware of a voice in the distance calling you.  You then feel a motion backwards, growing or both.  Then you blink and your 'back' listening to everyone around you laughing because you were 'gone'.  Guess what.  You were.

The same thing happens when you are awakened during a dream.  The sound or motion some distance away.  Your attention begins to shift toward the disturbance followed by a motion.  A second or two later and you are awake.

If during those experiences, you are fully aware of what is happening then you have phased.  That's it.  Of course, I've described a 'return' instead of a 'leave', but it is the exact same process.

Andonitxo,

Remember, the worst thing that can happen using these tapes out of order is nothing.  That's it, the worst.  Nothing happens.  Don't worry about skipping the first tape, it was intended to help you learn how the tapes worked and give you an idea about what would happen in the later tapes.  You got that from tape 2.

Like anything else, relaxing takes practice.  One thing that helps me is to tighten the muscles I'm having problems with then let them relax back to where they were and just keep relaxing them.  After awhile, you will learn what is needed to get them to relax.

Your heart feeling like it is speeding up or thumping harder or any number of strange feelings are normal.  For one thing, you are now noticing these things during a time (going to sleep) that you often ignore.  Don't forget, you are heading into some new areas for you.  Expect odd things to happen from time to time.  After 25 years of poking around in this stuff (mostly meditation, some OBE/AP), I still experience things I've never heard of before.

Monkey chatter is always a challenge.  There is a balance between letting go and keeping a strict focus. On the one hand, you get monkey chatter.  On the other hand, you get meditation.  To achieve an OBE or AP, you have to be in the middle somewhere.  I'm still working on that myself.

Your last question was how many hours to spend on each time.  The answer is simply enough.  When you feel comfortable with one tape, feel free to move on to the next.  One way to know is to try it without the tapes.  That is the whole goal after all.  Can you reach Focus 10 without the tape?  Can you walk yourself through the exercises?  If you can easily do this, then you are ready to move on to the next tape.

One last point I want to make.  The tapes only guide you.  You can return from a Focus 21 to fully awake (Focus 1) instantly if you wish to (I've done it).  You can even listen to a full tape and never leave focus 1.  You can also do everything the tapes teach without the tapes.  The tapes are a learning aid, treat them as such.  Learn from them, but don't limit yourself to them.

Seeing the room around you with your eyes closed is a common occurrence.  I've heard of a number of names such as Astral Sight and such.  You were seeing into the Real Time Zone (RTZ) as some call it.  This is the same place you will have an OBE in.

I use to do this from time to time when meditating.  Once, while lying in bed, I was just watching the room around me.  At the time, my oldest daughter was about 2 years old.  I saw here astral form walk into the bedroom and she sat on my lap as she often did in the physical.  Except, she was asleep and dreaming and I was looking into the RTZ.  She sat there for awhile and I 'spoke' to her and suggested that she go play.  Her blank expression faded as she smiled at me, gave me a hug and walked out of the room and down the hall to her toys.

one_each,

Thanks. About your 3rd point. How do you get your point of awareness to see and move? Sounds very cool!

I haven't quite gotten it to work yet myself. Lol.  I reach these states in meditation where you keep your mind empty and train your mind to not even create the images.  I've had success with Frank's "noticing" which is talked about in http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=17413&highlight=notice where I reach the Focus level (10 or 12 is easiest for me) and just notice what is going on around you.  A flash of light or a bit of 'dark' that isn't as dark.  Soon other images form and you just join them so to speak.  For lack of a better term, I'll call this shifting my awareness or just shifting.

One exercise that I do is to reach focus level 12 and shift my awareness in and out of the images.  These images become the world around me since it is the astral areas I'm in.  Then I tend to loose my attention and get lost in the moment, forgetting that I'm in the middle of an AP.  To help gain/keep my attention I shift back to a meditative state (empty mind) once I realize that I've shifted into the image.  I almost always stay at/return to the same focus level from where I started.  So far, it has worked at F12, F10 and even F1.

Just a side story on my F1 experience.  Just after hitting the snooze button on my clock on morning, I thought I would see what would happen if I tried this exercise from F1 right after waking up.  I closed my eyes and just 'noticed' and let myself join the images.  When I noticed I was in one, I cleared my mind and returned to F1.  This happened a total of three times in the nine minutes before my snooze button needed pressing again. :D

I still have problems keeping my attention and awareness on what is going on while I OBE/AP.  But then again, I have the same problem in F1.  Too much thinking about things instead of staying in the here and now.

I remember those years and I would guess they are harder now then they were when I went through them.  Stick it out, it will get better.

QuoteYes i know its not the greatest thing to energy work while depressed. Im actually not anymore, havent been for 3 months or so. But when I did do energy work, I was depressed for the most part.

The point I wanted to make was that the energy work could have been the cause of the depression.  You see, as you grow spiritually the rest of you needs to keep up to keep you in balance.  As you get out of balance, your life seems to turn upside-down.  Its sort of like spiritual pain.  If you exercise too hard an pull a muscle, then that muscle will hurt and you will naturally slow down and take care of it.  Spiritual growth can put a strain on the other parts of your self (physical, emotional, mental) that will show up in your life.  In your case, the energy work may have caused the depression to get you to slow down.  Which it did eventually.

What I would suggest doing is starting slowly in an area you feel comfortable in.  If something feels un-natural, then you might not be ready for it.  If you still feel a nudge to continue, go slowly.  Try once or twice a week instead of daily.  If your life does not get upset and the depression does not return, then bump it up to three times a week.

Most of all, don't get down on yourself.  It does no good and only makes it harder to get anything done on any level.  There is no urgency, take your time.  You can accomplish anything if you don't give up.

OBE, AP and Lucid Dreaming are very closely related.  It sounds like you had one.  Which one depends on how you want to define things.  Here is what I use:

OBE - Project of phase into the Real Time Zone and everything is very similar to the physical world.  Some things are different, but it seems to be based on the physical.

AP - Like OBE, but leaves the physical behind.

Lucid Dream - Fall asleep then start dreaming.  Realize you are dreaming.  Can shift to AP or OBE after you are lucid.

Many of my OBE experiences were spontaneous and started after I fell asleep.  It wasn't an LD, because I wasn't dreaming.  I was just 'woke up' in the OBE state.  Remember, they are all very similar experiences.  Putting them into one bucket or another won't change the experience so I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Stevo has some good points and I would like to add a few more.

Point 1: First of all, I have all 7 waves and have had success with all of them.  Did I have to have them?  No.  However they do give you a guided tour to the various focus levels that Monroe talks about.  Some say they can become a crutch, but I must admit I've never had that problem.  In fact, if I use them too much, they stop working.  The Focus 10 tape has almost no effect on me, but then again I can reach Focus 10 in about 5-10 minutes without the tape.

Point 2: Focus 12 is not better then Focus 10.  The same can be said about all the other focus levels.  That's like saying that the TV channel 12 is better the TV channel 10 just because it is 2 levels 'higher'.  For you personally, the shows on channel 10 might be more enjoyable.  12 is just different, not better.

Point 3: Focus 10 is the roughly the same conscience level as the RTZ.  However, there are two parts to it.   The first is your level of conciseness (focus level) and the other is your point of awareness.  Changing your focus level but keeping your mind blank (point of awareness does not change) is basically what meditation is.  Letting the point of awareness 'see' and move is OBE or AP.

First note, don't worry.  Random rantings are normal and this stuff can be quite confusing.  Everyone seems to have the 'right' answer and they all say different things.  The truth is the only one who is right about your life is you.  I might have a few pointers, but you are the only one who can bring the real changes into your life.  I'll try to help organize your thoughts a give you a few bits of information that might help you out some.

Quote...somthing has drawn me back here again
Sort of a still quiet voice or feeling in the back of your mind?  I've always called it my inner nudge.  Some would say it's the voice of God and others would say its your Spirit Guides.  Personally, I think its my higher self, but that may be a bit egotistical ;D.  Listen to it and take it as advice.  Don't just blindly follow it, use your best judgment.  I've found that if it is a gentle, but persistent nudge its something I should strongly consider following.

QuoteMy problem is that all this enegry stuff comes un-natural to me...

Quote...I started to feel that I was meant for somthing big.
You are.  However, it may only be big to you.  That inner nudge is almost always geared to you and your development.  However, in the act of you becoming the better you, the world around you will be changed by your growth.  Exactly what that will be was chosen by you before you were born.  The fact that you don't remember the challenges you set before yourself is what allows you to grow.

QuoteBut I have also gained alot of knowledege talking to more people in my life now and I have felt a whole lot better then I did when i was depressed a year ago. But I still feel like im missing somthing. And Im not sure what that is. Id like to do more energy work and stuff portraing to that nature, but I have a hard time doing somthing every night. IE Im a slacker. Im trying to change, but its hard.
There is a lot of stuff in this paragraph.  First off, lets talk about being depressed.  Energy work is demanding in many ways.  It is very easy to grow in the spiritual things and have to play catch up with the emotional, mental and physical parts of yourself.  In other words, you over did it.

Feeling like your missing something is very common for anyone at your age.  Talk to your friends and ask them if they feel the same thing.  Most of them will agree with you.  Your still learning about life and such.  Adding in energy work and OBE's and AP's and all this other stuff can add to the daily stress of life.

I would suggest that you DON'T do it every night.  The depression is just one sign that you are not ready for it.  Take it easy or you will see many cycles of hard work followed by depression.  I know I did.  Remember, your not a slacker.  Your just not listening to what your whole self is telling you.  The nudge tells you to keep going and the rest of your self can't keep up.  There is a balance between these two and you will find it.

I have Wave's I - VII and had the same "clicking out" experience each time I moved to a new Focus.  It seems that we have trouble 'bringing back' the memories during these experiences.  As you have found with Focus 10, just keep listening to the tape until you remember what happened.  When you stop "clicking out" then you can move on to the next focus level.  I'm currently experiencing the same thing with Focus 21.

Quote from: Interesant1. In the past i read about entities , spirit quides , bad things that can affect you and so on . Now i didnt see around here nothing about them . So if you project can you meet accidently other entities like aliens , humans who ap , ghosts and so on ?
Some people will insist that you should always protect yourself (a short prayer or affirmation).  I've always known that nothing can harm me, so I don't.  If it helps you to relax and remove any fear then protecting yourself is a good thing.  Guides are available if you ask for them.

2. If i got too F10 how can i go to F12 or F15 ? And thats what the OLD language refered to as " vibrational states" or " raising vibrational lvl" ?
The 'OLD' language used those terms to represent any number of 'higher states'.  Robert Monroe used the Focus numbers (F1-F27 with many skipped as I recall) to indicate specific 'vibrational rates'.  For an OBE, F10 is the right place with F12 being the start of the astral plane.

3.Does the position of my body affect the projection . I dont mean the way i sleep but the way im headed[ ie : the head to north / the head to east..]?
I never have worried about it.

4. I GET BORED ! i stay there just doing my mantra [repeating FA -RA ON ] and i GET BORED . i got to vibrational state 2 times by doing this mantra but its damn hard about 30 minutes or so . Sometimes  i go to sleep on purpose ... what can i doo to dont get bored?
It sounds like this technique isn't working for you.  Some people will tell you that they have a 'guaranteed' way; don't believe them.  Everyone is different and not all techniques work for everyone.  Check out the forums (FAQ and Permanent forums too) for some other ideas.  Find one that feels 'right' and stick with it.  Don't get discouraged if it doesn't work the first try.

5. What you guys ussualy do when u get to astral plane ? I wanted to ap to see if it exists [thought im sure now it exists] and to meet some spirit guids to ask about god . Im just curios why u guys do it
Right now I'm working on getting to the astral without becoming  a 'fuzzy head'.  I've had several spontaneous trips there without that problem, but when I consciously project, my mind tends to wonder and I lose focus.

Why do I do it?  I found god.  Now I want to see what I skipped over during that journey.  Yes, you can find god without leaving F1, fully conscience.

Honestly never tried.

Congratulations!  Although you are the only one that can truly judge if you had an OBE or not, is certainly sounds like one to me.  Sometimes, especially in the beginning, it is hard to tell during the OBE.

As a test, I once bent my knees while standing up.  I was shaped like an 'L' floating in the air.  Still, I argued with myself as to weather or not that was proof.

As you become more accustomed to the OBE state, you will learn to recognize it easier.  That 'fuzziness' in your thinking is why its important to plan what you want to do before you go OBE.  But then again, just going with the flow can be fun and educational as well.

That was a big AHA! moment for me as well.  And just for the record, I don't use resonant tuning either.  The energy seems to build up on its own well enough that I do project.  I just need to get my awareness under control.

Each day I get better at it, but I'm not quite there yet.  I project in and out of my meditation several times each night and a few more times before I get out of bed in the morning.  It would be frustrating except that I'm enjoying the journey too much.

I've heard myself snore more then once.  Funny thing is it sounds so loud that I think, "I need to stop that or I'll wake up the whole house!"

As for the pillow, I haven't found one of those fancy ones that I like.  Instead, I use an old, rolled-up towel under my neck and toss the other end over my eyes.

Now for the best part of this thread.  I though that Stookie had the best wake up until Areotus shared his sisters 'problem'. lol

I've meditated for many years, but my goals did not include OBE/AP experiences.  At least not until now.  When I first started using the Monroe tapes, I found that I had already reached F3, F10 and even F12 in my meditations.  However, with meditation, you try to keep your mind clear of visualizations and sounds.  They get in the way, or at least they do for the meditation that I was practicing.

Now that I am learning to OBE/AP, I can shift my conscience easily enough, but I don't 'go' anywhere.  Recently, I read Frank's web site and he stated, "They don't actually realize that changing your perception in consciousness, and shifting your area of consciousness, are two very different things."  Well, that was my problem.  I could shift my area of consciousness, but I wouldn't allow my perception to change.

A little more research and I found where Frank talked about his noticing technique.  Just watch the 'darkness' and look for a spot that's not quite as dark, or a sound or a flash of light.  After awhile, your perception changes.

My problem now is that I loose focus.  My thinking becomes more like dreaming then OBE/AP.  Once I start to realize that I've shifted my perception, I pop back to the 'dark' where I was meditating.  There is a fine line that you must maintain and I have almost no practice at it.  A few more days and I should be exploring PF2 with no problem.
#17
My thinking is that you are experiencing some kind of energy blockage.  These happen from time to time and seem like a setback, but if you address them you can work them out quicker.  Try not to push it by going too deep in your meditations.  Instead focus on releasing the blockage so you can get back to working on your goals.

Take your meditation to the point where you start to feel your chin moving up or your body moving to the side.  Think about the energy blockage relaxing and letting the energy move freely.  You may feel your 'body' moving back to its correct position or you might not.  If not, you may notice that you can go into a deeper meditation before your 'body' moves out of position again.  Don't worry, it will work out and you can continue in your advancement.
#18
Awesome!  The trick now is to keep your life in balance with your inner life.

Lol @ Unison.  A jet engine sounds about right. Lol

Back to the question.  The vibrations are caused by energy movements through you.  Have you ever listened to high voltage transmission (electrical) lines?  They actually move as the electricity moves through them and it makes them buzz.  The same thing is happening to you.

I don't know for sure, but I think as you become accustom to the energy movements, you resist them less.  Since the energy can move easier, you don't notice the vibrations any more.  Unless, of course, you choose to.

Are the vibrations required to OBE/AP?  No.  In fact, the (almost) only time I have ever felt them was when I was trying to feel them.
#20
It could be as simple as your higher self wanting you to move on to the other vibration rates.  Problems like this can occur when you want to do one thing and your higher self wants you to do something else.  Instead of fighting it, you might find it fun to just go with the flow and see what your higher self has in store for you.  Next time you find yourself OBE/AP, just say to yourself, 'take me to where I need to go' and let your higher self lead the way.

After you've done that a few times, I'm sure you will be able to return to the RTZ again.  However, you may find that you don't want to.
#21
Being away from 'home' is more likely.  Remember, moving is one of the things that cause stress in our lives.  Finding/starting a new job or going to a new school is a change and we, as humans, resist them.  The important thing now is to not stress over it.  It is not 'a serious problem' at all, in fact it is very normal.

One thing you could do is to identify the things that 'bother' you the most about your new place, job, life.  It might be that you haven't found a grocery store that you like, or you haven't found a nice restaurant yet.  Once you identify it, solve it.  Find something that works for you.  Personally, I never felt at home in a new place until I walked around a while.  I would then spend a few hours over several evenings just walking.  Once I get use to the place, my spiritual life returns.

Just relax and your vibrations will return soon.
#22
Runlola is right on target here.

First thing to remember is that it is not the Monroe tapes that are causing the problem, they are just the way you chose to start.  If you had studied under a guru instead, the same things would happen.  I'll see if I can help you understand what is going on.

Your life was headed in one direction when you started these exercises.  That is a change, no doubt about it.  With any change, good or bad, some parts of you (including your mind) resist it.  That resistance shows up as stress.  The harder you push the changes, the more stress enters your life.

You can keep pushing for the changes and just deal with the stress until it becomes too much.  However, you would do much better to find a balance between the changes you are making and the stress in your life.  What I would suggest is slowing down your exercises.  Instead of doing them daily, skip a day every now and then until the stress becomes more manageable.  Don't worry if you have to take it down to once a week even.  After the stress level drops, you can add more until you can handle it everyday.  Just take it slow and easy, you have a whole lifetime to work on this.

I still feel a slight tingling sensation and I feel light headed.

It sounds like you were still a bit detached.  When this happens, you can drink a glass of cold water (tap cold always worked for me) to help ground you.  It will end soon enough on its own, but the cold sensation makes the process faster.  With some more practice, you won't need the water.  Again, congratulations on you adventure.

One can be found in this post:

However, no MP3, tape or CD can make you have an OBE.  They can only teach you how to shift your consciousness to the right states.

Keep growing and learning until you are everything (including the unseen) and know everything.  Until you complete that, then you can keep going.
