And after reading "The Stargate Conspiracy", I don't know how I feel about Graham Hancock, Bauvall their cohort.  And it wasn't Bauvall that found the water damage, it was Robert Schoch.  He's actually a geologist, not a "new age archaeologist" who meshes new age metaphysics with the study of alternative history.  Bauvall was the guy who wrote about how the pyramids are aligned to mirror orions belt (which isn't 100% accurate).

Robert Schock is the man that said those ancient ruins found off the coast of Japan were natural formations. Since when have straight lines and stepped terraces been natural formations?

Christopher Dunn wrote a book detailing a theory that they pyramids were power plants.

Joseph Farrell wrote three books suggesting a theory that they were a giant weapons array 'a la the death star'.  (Thus the triology's title - The Giza Death Star).

point being, an anthropologist/archaeologist thinks from the perspective of their education, they wouldn't necessarily recognize an example of sophisticated engineering....

That so called coffin in the Kings chamber was where the initiates went through their initiation ceremonies for one thing. Dr Paul Brunton has some interesting things to say about it in A search in ancient Egypt.

There was a special on TV that was about Hawass- I was extremely surprised that they were able to show it.  In it they show how everyone is treated that works with him, and you see him throwing tantrums and treating everyone like crap, including withdrawing funding and it was really interesting how some of them learned quick how to kiss his butt and get treated better, while others 'forget themselves' and react normally to his capricious decisions and get abused for doing it.  There was one instance when they got lost in the desert, he decided that they would walk (and were rescued by bedouins) where one guy got very sick and feverish and was abused verbally when he just couldn't walk anymore.  Other horrible stuff happened, but every episode was very interesting.  I'd be surprised if anything comes out of this, though.

He has upset just about everybody. There was the scientist who confirmed the base of the sphinx had been damaged by water over a long period of time, Robert Bauvall, Graham Hancock and quite a few others. He insists that the pyramids were built 4000 years ago as tombs for the Pharaohs, in spite of the evidence suggesting otherwise. He refuses to let anyone use ground penetrating radar in search of the hall of records. He won't be around come December 31 2012 with any luck

someone built them.

i just don't believe they are tombs.  nor that their use was strictly ceremonial.  or that they were built by humans 5000 years ago over the course of generations. 

and there are some that interpret the temple writings (which are the biggest reference to ka or ba or whichever one it is, i don't remember either) to be instructions for such practices as AP, not necessarily instructions for the afterlife, though that isn't ruled out just because it's a reference to AP as well.  and i'm not talking about little scribbles of paint up narrow shafts in the great pyramids.  i mean the carvings in temples across egypt (particularly Luxor).

also, i don't trust the guy who is (or was, something happened to him during the who egyptian revolution business) in charge of egypts antiquities.  i don't believe they waited a decade before they drilled through that stone door up that shaft.  i mean the guy found it in the early 90s and they didn't crack through until 2000's?!  BS.

you know there were what appear to be metal hinges on that stone door?

Zahi Hawass resigned as he claimed the artefacts were not being protected since the police withdrew. Don't know what happened since then though. He was always the one holding things back and refusing to cooperate. Darn, he's back again
