Oh and I forgot to add - everyone is different so you might get all or none of the warning signals like breathlessness, tingling, buzzing or anything else. Personally only after T2 do I get the buzzing. I normally have signs in that I'm astral by the colour and perception of the room (like seeing hues rather than a solid colour). As weird as it sounds, I don't always realize I'm astral until I get a sign like seeing my body in bed or seeing something non physical. As of this moment, I know by immediately finding myself on the lower planes...ugh.

I have two techniques that seem to work well with me. These might take a little practice to get right. They sound simple but it's amazing what the mind does to keep you in the physical. As I naturally travelled astrally as a kid anyway, I don't need these techniques - I just take off. But sometimes I do this to make sure I still can go into the astral if I for some reason can't just will my body out.

T1 :

I go to bed, semi-tired, and lie down on my back. I focus on a point in the room until I feel the need to shut my eyes (normally after 10 minutes but sometimes I will close my eyes if my brain doesn't send signals to do so). Normally at this point I will lie on my side with my legs bent in my natural sleep position. I then focus all my energy on keeping still to try and trick my body into thinking it's asleep (the hardest part of this is to not fall into the trap of moving when your body says it's uncomfortable as it's your body way of testing that you are indeed asleep). I focus on my legs until they go cold and numb, then I work my way up the body. Next I try and wiggle a finger to make sure I've hit sleep paralyis and if it proves difficult, I will move on to the next stage. The next stage is pretty easy. I imagine myself sitting up and then *POOF!* I'm out.

T2 :

I normally do this one in the day around noon but have done it at night and in mornings too. Sit in your chair or lie down, make sure you aren't disturbed or have background noise like the TV on. Just be natural - don't lie down in an unnatural position because, contrary to popular belief, this won't work.
You need to focus on the silence around you - if you are new to this technique it's best to shut your eyes so you take away any visual distractions. Your brain will automatically fill the silence with noise known as 'white noise'. Focus on that white noise. It will probably sound quite faint at the start but will get louder the more you focus on it.  If you are lucky you might hear someone call your name (that'll be your guide) but don't be afraid. Next, when you have established the white noise and can focus on other things, you need to focus on your forehead. You should see an eye staring back at you after a while or you might feel your head tingle.
You now need to imagine your head getting bigger and your perception broadening. You will notice the white noise you heard so faintly at the start is now sounding like a jet engine next to your ears. Don't fear it. Try to move your astral limbs and get up.

Well stay focused  :-D It took me a while to calm down the noise in my head

Patience is key. So is completely analysing yourself for fears that might be holding you back :D You'll be complaining of lifting off when you don't even have the desire to soon lol

Excellent. Being more sensitive to the spiritual world is a cool gift. You might get other 'talents' as you go through the awakening.  8-)

Be careful what you wish for  :-D

Try turning a light switch on in your hand and you should be able to see more stuff. If I can master control of ma body, I'll find ya and pull you out  :-P :-o :-D

True. It might may sense later on. I'm just impatient.  :-D

I've had dreams that had signs in to trigger me into realizing I'm having a lucid one but I always dismiss it though I'm aware of dreaming. I kick myself in morning for being so lazy and not trying to astral project from them lol.
The astral travels are becoming more frequent and half the time I don't need to even do anything. Luckily though, I don't get the noise or electric feeling or breathlessness or anything. Maybe cuz when I was younger I could naturally take off so I don't get the warning signs until I see hues of colour :) You bro might well of been ready to take off if he got an intense buzzing in his body lol.

There's a flip side though. Yes drugs can make you feel soooo good and you can reach states you couldn't normally but there are plenty of people who have experienced bad trips while on drugs. Same on the astral. You can experience total bliss or total horror. Your choice. It's all about mindsets and being positive, banishing fears and being in control. Once you lose that control - lets say, you start to fear something and the fear takes over your body, things can get ugly. Especially when doing drugs as everything is heightened - emotions, colours, noise etc. At least while you are astral naturally and not drug-induced, you can experience the good more and more. And yes, the feel good factor is there with astral projection. You can feel so free and alive.

On drugs, there is no way you'd be on a higher plane. It might be your perception but no, it wouldn't be true. You'll be on the lower planes.

Yeah I know, it's a bible thing and I'm catholic but it did happen. And LOL at your bro. Bet that shocked him.

I wanna know about the monk thing though.

Apparently SOBS is Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide (previously known as SOBS) a uk suicide site
And SADS is sudden arrhythmic/adult death syndrome or Seasonal affective disorder

Odd as I suffer from the seasonal thing. I did suffer from depression at aged 15 and stopped taking meds at 25 (during that time, I tried to kill myself). Wonder if it's a cryptic message?

Firstly, I saw writing on the wall being written by a unseen figure. I was in bed asleep but awake. I was astral in the physical world but didn't make an attempt to get up. Just lay there hovering over the bed as someone said don't get up. I remember the slanted italic handwriting and the long text but can only remember the last of the text which was 'godbless and goodbye'.

Any idea what it was all about?

A few days later, I'nm in my home town at my mums and I go bed. Few hours later I fall asleep then I wake up. I'm aware I'm astral but I'm in a lift, not in my room with the kids near me. It's going down. I don't fear it. It opens. That's when the fear kicks in. I'm in the tunnel under my mums house (leading to the cells of the monks) - my mums street use to be tunnels and gardens leading to the nunnery and monsery. I go in a cell and observe a man being operated on when he's fully awake. The operation is brutal. I say something in my head, him and a priest look at me the the man on the operating table stands up wildeyed and in pain. The priest shouts at me for breaking the man's trance. I see the words S.O.B.S or S.A.D.S something like that anyway on the wall in blood and then I pray to get back in my body. I wake up in my body with the kids next to me.

Any ideas?

Could of been a helper of some sort.
To be honest, someone pulling you out of your body without your say so doesn't sound right to me so surround yourself with light (do protection and grounding if need be before bed). Always ask who it is and ask whether they are of light. I hope this doesn't alarm you in any way but just like in real life, not everything is to be taken at face value. If you feel safe, then trust your own judgement be always be aware that not everybody follows rules and some entities will bend the unspoken rules.

Enjoy your travels and remember no amount of darkness can extinguish the light of one small candle  (If you can't see properly it's called Astral Blindness and you might want to imagine you have a torch or something to make you see better).

Hello. I use to Astral Travel a lot when younger (I also saw spirits) but in my early teens suffered a mental health problem and the travelling stopped. I stopped it as I was being attacked by a lower form and it dragged me deeper into depression. Now I'm 29 and have started travelling again. Bit exciting but also terrifying. I can't remember much from doing it as a kid so I consider myself a newbie at it. Nice to meet you all.
