Welcome to Metaphysics! / Vivid images

Hi folks,

I am not sure where to put this so plz advise if it's in the wrong place and I'll repost for a better response.

When falling asleep (mainly at night) one or twice a week I SEE vivid images. They do not appear to be in my head but as if I am looking at a photo on the inside of my eye lids. Sometimes they are just outlines in the merky red/black of my eyelids but most are colorful images of mainly people (sometimes scenes). Some can be disturbing and i am rather concern as to the cause.

Have any of you guys ever had anything similar or know of some history of this (or even, indeed, how to sto it!)

Thx for reading,
VM

Hi Guys,

Th only position I can sleep in is on my stomach and is how i feel most relaxed. For some reason I have it in my head that you can only project (which I am yet to do) while on your back or in a chair. Is this the general feeling or does it not matter to you guys how you are lying/sitting when you sucessfully (and conciously) project ?

Thx,
VM

Hi All,

I am interested to know if anybody is aware of real world things during an LD. i.e the date or what the weather was like before you fell asleep or even where you are physically while you are LD'ing. I have never been able to think of such things while in an LD but wondered if it was possible.

Cheers,
VM.

Hi All ...

This may be the wrong place to post this but here we go ... (I am new to all this so I may be talking rubbish but I need to clear up my quieres as it seems to be holding be back)

In Robert Bruce's AD book I believe it says that in the afterlife you enter the level apporpriate to your resulting 'balance' in life. It also says that you can meet you family and 'loved ones' in the after life. Does this not sugest that if your family are not in the same 'level' as you in the afterlife you cannot meet them (sa different plance cannot mix). (Sorry about the terminology). If anyone has any thoughts on this I would love to hear them.

Cheers,
VM.

Hi All,

I am very new to all this so please bear with me.

I have just got into Lucid Dreaming and manged 3 so far and am now really interested in Astral Projection/OBE after being told quite a bit by a friend.

I have the Astral Dynamics book and have began to read it but I am rather inpatient and so have started experimenting without knowing all the techniques (naughty, I know).

Last night I tried to relax as much as possible. (this is the main reason for me getting into this area in the first place as I have a rather stressfull job and have difficulty relaxing during the evening). I concentrated on my breathing and tried to clear my mind and not try AP. My whole body when completley numb and I felt like I was floating on water. My breathing and heart rate became rapid and I felt like my arms were rising off the bed. I kept going very giddy and seeing flashes of light each time.  I felt like myself was a small ball inside my body and liek my body was way too big for me and didn't fit anymore. This continued for about 10 minutes by which time I was almost asleep and so let go (and fell asleep).

I have a pure science background from college and University and so am very unsure about things that cannot directly be proved by science. This was the case with lucid dreaming until it happened and so, now, I am trying to find out if I am on the right lines and if indeed I did experience something last night.

Thanks for taking the time to read all this and any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Kind regards !
VM.

Thx Guys,

If nothing else I know i am not alone.

It used to 'buzz' me knowing  that the images i saw where not in my mind but infront of my eyes (or, of course, that's how it felt) but when i see images of people in pain it does disturb me. If i knew that i could get to the stage where i could so something about it all help in somewhere i would dive right in and explore this.

I find it strange that I am fully concious and totally awakre when this happends and if I try to make it happen i very rarely happens. there does not seem to be any relationship to NOT wanting it to happen though. if i don't want it to happen is usually doesn't. I just guess curiousity is causing me to will these images to appear.

The most common image i get is of that painting of the screaming banshee is it ? an elongated woman's face with her hadns to her cheeks, wide open eyes and screaming. YES, it can be quite disturbing but, as you guys have advised, if I can control it it may be beneficial.

It's a pitty there are no labs in the U.K who get involved in (unless there are and I just don;t know about them !?)

Thx guys!

You have pretty much confirmed what I thought .... it's all in the mind (if you pardon the pun). So, it is whatever you feel most formatable with while not being able to just frop off into sleeo yeah ?

I think i am going to try all different positions so I don't get into thinking that I can only project if on my back (which is what i am thinking now but always find something uncomfortable/distracting lying on my back)

I do like the idea of using my arms to push me out of my body. who knows, now that i have though of it, maybe i tiwll happen tonight.

Cheers,
VM

Thanks alot guys !

I am really new to this and last night I was SO close to projecting. I just couldn't get there and I think this was mainly due to the fact that every time I nearly did I drew myself back in fear of what I have read. I have loads of questions about how to get back into my physical body should something evil/scary appear and if I could do it quick enough etc and as I do not have all the answers to these sorts of concerning questions I doubt I will ever get there due to my fear. Reading through all your posts I do get the impression that we all must draw our own conclusions once we have travelled but there is always that fear in the back of my mind :(

Any words of confidence would be greatly appeciated.

Sorry, forgot to mention !

No, I didn't get any vibrations at all, hence my doubtfulness to my success but, from what you say, it doesn't seem to be a problem.

Thanks for the very warm welcome. It's exciting to know that you think I WAS almost there. Fills me with confidence that this isn't all a load of rubbish. Don't get me wrong ! While I am very scientific and logical I ALWAYS keep an open mind. I just some evidence all the time. Yeah, I know a bad thing to need with subjects like these but it seems when I 'research' various aspects like this I DO get the evidence I need (as with LD'ing).

AM off to conintue reading the book.

Thanks again and I look forward to getting stuck in and hopefully helping others should I manage to get to that stage.

Cheers!
