no, they're based on (if you're lucky) a random number generator and tend to not have the same effect as someone actually holding them.
#2
Well, i've been here for a while, i guess it's about time i did one of these intro things.

*waves*
Hi, i'm Silversunset. I'm a college student (who graduates this may, w00t) who has been into the paranormalish/astral type things for many years.
I also am the moderator at another site (GHOSTPLACE) that deals mainly with ghosts and spirits and things like that.

my favorite color is green (the darker the more favorite)
and my favorite food (at the moment) is cooler ranch doritos.

hi.

Alright, i've been working on projecting, and i have been able to project into SOMETHING. It's not an astral projection as i have heard them described before. I was just wondering if anyone had heard of this or something similar, or knew of any place or person where i could find more info on this specific experience (not on A.P. in general, i have enough of that).
here's what i have:

just before i 'project' i get tingly, which is what usually happens before i go into a trance-like state (not really a trance, just trance-like) - kinda like when your foot is asleep - the gingerale feeling - but not as intense. Once i have 'projected' i am in a milky white jello-like atmosphere. i mean it FEELS like jello, but looks milky-white. i can see shapes, but i am nowhere near my body, and i feel that i am made of water. Like if i don't concentrate on keeping myself together i'll just start to merge into a stream or something.

any thoughts?

Welcome to Metaphysics! / Entity Identification
March 24, 2004, 17:09:18
hi. i realize i am new here but i am no newbie to the 'spiritual' world as it is often called. eventually i'll learn the site's terminology but until then you'll have to bear with me.

alright, i seem to have this...entity...that has attached itself to me. i only call it an 'entity' because i do not know for sure what it is. so far i have apparently channeled this entity and left myself some pretty interesting handwritten notes, and if i go into places with high concentrations of energy i can actually see this entity. i have dreamt of it, and in this dream it appeared to me as a female human, bird, rat-like, dog/wolf like. it can change 'shape' like this in my waking state as well, however it is not a "shapeshifter" - it physically is all of these creatures that it morphs into. it does not seem to be a 'spirit guide' however it does not seem to be a 'ghost' of some sort.

my dreams lead me to believe that this entity has been with me in this life AND in past lives, although i have yet to really discover any past lives other than those from the dreams. in the dreams, the entity presented itself in the most widly accepted companion form: for example, i dreamt i was living in an old eskimo-esque hunting/fishing village, and the entity portrayed itself as the wolf/dog figure. Currently the entity portrays itself as a female, and basically refuses to tell me what's going on - they want me to "figure it out" without them telling me.

This entity acts sort of like a scout - that is the best way i can put it. They follow me around (when it suits them and me) and if the situation i am entering into is dangerous they warn me, however leave the decision up to me whether to proceed or not. It will not follow me into danger unless it feels it is something i cannot handle on my own, in which case it will preceed me and try to 'talk things down' as it puts it (basically i deal a lot with nature spirits, and some other types of not-so-nice entities, and venture into the woods with a group of people a lot)She goes by the name of Neena....

if anyone has any ideas as to what i have become friends with, i'd appreciate it. I have yet to fully understand what he/she/it is, and any ideas would be useful.

Welcome to Magic! / Spell Junkie, or Spellcrafter?
October 01, 2004, 08:13:44
i think it depends.
some spells become "tried and true classics" because people use them all over. Other spells don't work for people (or would be better off if they had been made by the person themselves) because they are just not personal enough, or aren't specifically the right energy they are looking for.

from what i've found, it's all based on specificity. IF the spell you find is specific enough for you it might work. if it's something found on the 13-year-old-goth-wannabe's website that says something along th elines of:
"starkle starkle little twink
who the hell you are i think
be it big or be it small
fill me up with alcohol!"
then it most likely won't work...first, it's not really specific, and second....seriously, who would cast that spell?

i dunno, i feel more accomplished if i write my own. more like it's MINE and not something i've stolen from someone. That in itself makes it more powerful and generally it doesn't mess itself up. Who know's what the person was thinking when they made their spell, who knows what kind of energy went into it. i dunno...i'll borrow a spell if i know who made it and under what circumstances...but generally if i 'borrow' one from someone i don't know i'll change it around and make it my own, reworking it so that it's specific and i KNOW what it will do...

that's just my opinion...

good luck.
i used that video for a class project i did 2 years ago (it was on the group not just the video) and i think i watched that video atleast 100 times...
and i STILL don't get most of it.
i do like the 7-star with the hands though...makes me happy[:)]

and hey Ninja
i just figured you'd like to know what they really said. very good job for figuring out the words, but already knew them from eons ago when i became obsessed with the Lennon version, so i figured i'd help[:D]

ok, so you've got 8 candles and a guy you want to hurt.
my first thought was "set him on fire with the candles" but i'm sure that isn't QUITE what you want.

try some sort of a curse. I can't tell you the particulars on how to, since i have not had any reason yet to curse someone but if you feel that is your only option then it's a good suggestion.

dunno, just my $0.02

Little Ninja.
the line is
"a brotherhood of man"

good try though[:D], very cute.

I've heard a bunch of people saying that re-doing Lennon is almost sacreligious (sp?) but i for one think that maynard did an excellent job. just because you like the new way doesn't mean you're abandoning Lennon...he still wrote it.

Also:
quote:
I hope someday you will join us
in the world as one

should read:

I hope some day you will join us
and the world will live as one.

Welcome to Magic! / Symbol magic
September 27, 2004, 07:47:01
there are no symbols involved in Reiki. My boyfriend does it and as far as i know it involves hands and energy, that's about it.
as for symbols, it really depends on the path you're using and what you're using them for...you'd need to be slightly more specific if you want help.

yaaaaaaay more tool-fans!
i blame Moonburn for this, he made me listen to them and i now can't get enough of my Man-yard.

anyways, my favorite song would be SOBER:
There's a shadow just behind me,
shrouding every breath I take,
making every promise empty,
pointing every finger at me.
Waiting like a stalking butler
who upon the finger rests.
Murder now the path called "must we"
just before the son has come.
Jesus, won't you bonking whistle
something but the past and done?

Why can't we not be sober?
I just want to start this over.
Why can't we drink forever.
I just want to start things over.

I am just a worthless liar.
I am just an imbecile.
I will only complicate you.
Trust in me and fall as well.
I will find a center in you.
I will chew it up and leave,
I will work to elevate you
just enough to bring you down.

Trust me.

Mother Mary won't you whisper
something but what's past and done.

Trust me.

I want what I want.

Anyways, has anyone else heard APC's new cover of IMAGINE???
*drools*
i want my Man-yard soooo much:D
actually i just want the CD, because Man-yard would be too overwhelming for me to handle.

Welcome to Magic! / Buffy
September 16, 2004, 16:39:49
a general rule to follow is this:
if you see it on tv you cannot do it.
this is not absolute, in some cases they do make an accurate movie or tv show. The majority of the people however never catch these as they are not as interesting as "Charmed"

here we go, an accurate episode from charmed...

Phoebe: Piper, i'm having a problem with my boss at work, lets go do a spell to make her lighten up.
Piper: okie dokie. Lemme get my bucket of herbs and we'll do it.
*piper goes to the kitchen and phoebe goes up staris*
-cut to attic-
Phoebe: Alright lets see...a pinch of that, some of this, a leaf of those...got it.
Piper: Don't forget your wand!
Phoebe: oh yeah!....do we need Paige for this?
Piper: nah, it's easy enough.
*random chanting and waving sticks*

-cut to three weeks later-
Piper: so how's the boss?
Phoebe: she's doing better, i think that spell really is working! Of course it will take another 3 weeks for it to REALLY work, but i'm patient and willing to wait. After all you can't rush magic!

*crappy music and some clips of 'the book'*

The End!

so anyways....yeah.
you get the point.

Welcome to Magic! / Do not invoke lucifer
August 10, 2004, 13:19:38
quote:
basically what I wanted to say was to not ask for help, wishes etc for anything other than the creator, because that is a form of worship, invoking lucifer(satan) is equivalent to invoking a human being to fulfill your wishes, a shameful act. Dont you remember how Pharoah demanded to be worshiped? dont forget you have the power to fulfill your own wishes, you just need to develop your hidden abilities.

ok, so what makes you think that asking for help from anyone other than god is bad? probably either the bible or some sunday school / church type setting right? what about those people who don't believe in the bible, or who aren't from your church. Other people have other beliefs, and for you to tell them that they are wrong is the worst kind of disrespect i have ever heard of.

what if i walked up to you and started saying things like "for you to believe that there is no Mother before god is wrong, you should respect the Mother as well as the Father. Without a Mother there can be no young, and since you do not acknowladge Her exsistance you must be smited."

You probably would get upset and fight back with some of your own dogma.

Think about that the next time you decide to tell people they are wrong about their beliefs. Think long and hard about it, because the person you disrespect that way online could be a boss, teacher, or even a friend or relative.

Think about all of those 'people' you as a child asked things of: tooth fairy, santa, easter bunny. Those are all pagan ideas, transformed into christian ones to try to entice conversion. Can you honestly tell me that you never did something good because "santa was watching", or put a tooth under your pillow for the tooth fairy? or even put out an easter basket for the bunny to fill with goodies?

you also have to understand that not everyone believes in lucifer. Personally i don't believe in one single evil entity, i believe that in order for there to be good in the world there MUST be evil to offset it. i worship god as well as any of the christians in the church i go to, however i am not a christian. i believe that the christian god is the current manifestation of the Consort of the Mother, and for that i give him respect, but i do not worship him as the 'heavenly father' and 'one true god' the way christians do. i'll sit in church, listening to the pastor spew his message, and when prayer time comes i pray to god they way they do - but not for the same reasons. I pray for understanding and knowledge among them, i pray that they will be more open-minded and not so closed to the idea that the one who they sit next to is not of the same faith. if you were to ask me who i would worship more were the choice given, it would be the Mother, because without her we would not be - men cannot give birth to their children.

Bet you didn't like that little bit of preaching did you, 19?

my favorite part about what you said is this:
quote:
dont forget you have the power to fulfill your own wishes, you just need to develop your hidden abilities.

Didn't you know that that not relying on god is a sin? relying on yourself to get what you want is the same as relying on lucifer.
You obviously haven't been to church recently, or you'd know that.

Think about it.

Welcome to Magic! / Love Spell
August 08, 2004, 19:42:28
quote:
oh please. There is nothing wrong with casting a love spell on somebody.
Why not? if you simply go around refuting any magickal working that is for personal gain, how on earth do you expect to get anywhere?

the problem with doing love spells is that people do them on someone they honestly feel for, and then how can you be sure that the person honestly felt that way about you? THAT is why they are wrong, not because of the personal gain. you are tampering with someone's life without their permission, making them act or feel ways they may not on their own, which can cause bad things to happen. what if the spell doesn't go away or you can't break it, and you lose interest. then they are stuck feeling for you for ever....that alone could suck.
#16
sidcev - ick, sorry about the picking thing with the spelling, didn't read the dislexic part.
#17
quote:
wicca is a misstransaltion it means which, covens have wizzirds male members and not nesaserly paginism, the wirship of supernatral beings zueses

hes also menshoned in an old testoment found in africa 200 years ago and menshions him as an angel created forth ore fith day.

ok ready:
1. wicca is not a mistranslation, and if it was it wouldn't mean "which." It is thought that it was a mistranslation however that belief tends to be held by people who try to convince themselves that modern wicca is a re-embodiment of an ancient belief system.

2. males and females can be 'witches' - the term 'wizzard' tends to be a hollywood-ized thing.

3. wtf is a "zueses"????

4. who is this mysterious "he" who is mentioned in the african text?

5. what is a "fith"? sounds like something from star-wars.

do you even notice that your spelling is horrible? if you're going to chalk it up to being from a foreign country...maybe you should invest in an english dictionary...or pick a forum that may be better suited to your language....
#18
no i wasn't referring to you[:)] for once i'm not being silly and sarcastic towards someone.

what i dont' get (and this probably should go into another forum so i'll try to make it about wicca a little):
how can someone (i.e. those who created the bible) be so picky and choosy about what they 'allow' people to read in regards to their beliefs have any valid argument that religions such as wicca are not true religions. They cut out crucial pieces of their own religion in an attempt to make it seem like everything is perfect when in reality the 'savior' has as many faults as us lowly humans. instead of embracing all writings having to do with jesus (i.e. that of St. Thomas which say that heaven is on earth at this moment and is only missed by the closed minded/eyed) they choose those that put the power of the masses into their own hands.

my understanding of wicca, there is no one set book to rely on (such as the bible) and therefore one small group of people (vatican) cannot take absolute control over the believers (what other term is there...participants maybe?). it is such a - not 'makeshift'..more like 'individualized' - belief system that there is no real way to create a ruling class in which all other participants are forced to conform to a set belief system.

hope that makes what i meant to say more clear...and make me sound like less of a stupid grump - which is how i think i normally come across when i argue things. but i'm not arguing with people now, i'm discussing, which is different[:)]

quote:
I have a creeping suspicion that a lot of the current bible is convenient selection, some gradual additions and deft translation on the part of those who have a vested interest in the church being the top dog in the society.

Not sure where that originally came from, but i've got $0.02 to add to it.

i saw a documentary a while ago about the bible and how it came to be "assembled." it told how certain books that were critical to understanding jesus were left out. many of them were written long after the time of jesus, and long after many of the 'accepted' books were written, but some of the accepted ones were written around the same time and it sounded like the only reason that these books were excluded was because they didn't fit in with the church's idea of jesus. one (which i guess is semi-common knowledge) is the book which tells how jesus killed his best friend by pushing him off of a rooftop. when the crowd gathered to confront the boy, he said "he is not dead, look" and resurected him. it also tells the story of how he created birds from clay and made them alive. apparentlythe church didn't want people to see that jesus was a bad little boy and had to learn to use his 'gifts' for good as he grew. another told how jesus and mary magdalene had a family, and the church left this out because jesus just wasn't allowed to have sex back then.

Some Books Banned from the Bible: (linked)
The Life of Adam and Eve- Eve speaks to the angels
The Book of Enoch- dream-visions
The Book of Jubilees - written by Moses (?), adds details to genesis
The Infancy Gospel of Thomas - "The Gospel of St. Thomas declares that the Kingdom of God exists upon the earth today if people just open their eyes"
The Gospel of Mary - mary as an apostle
The Apocalypse of Peter- describes heaven and hell
The Protovangelion of James - jesus' brothers and sisters were not of mary but of joseph's previous wife
The Gospel of Nicodemus - story of the passion, and decent into hell. (possibly NOT a valid book, date written and author unknown.)
( i can't find a full listing, but if anyone does i'd love to see it.)

Sayings by jesus from the GoST

anyways, my thought is this. How can someone who is so picky and choosy about their own religion have any say in what is absolute?
I have a feeling this should be in a christianity thread, but it was brought up here that's why i answered it here...sorry if i goofed[:)]
#20
quote:
There are no gods, now stay on magic track

that is what he was doing. and who are you to tell people "there are no gods" - to you there may not be but to others there most certainly are.

anyways, two-parts that i can try to answer:
quote:
Can anyone shed some light on Why one summons them and invites them into your body? I've heard that it is done for the ultimate spiritual joining, but it sounds dangerous to me.

one would summon the Godd/Goddess into their body as a form of ritual during certain magic workings, or as a way to be closer to the deity, or even to *gain power (* they don't really gain they understand, as James has pointed out, we just need a nudge in the direction.) The God/Goddess is used as an authority figure, therefore in a group (coven  usually) would be invoked by the high priestess, but it can be done individually (in practice most people need a second person to perform this with - usually of the opposite gender - but not always).

quote:
What exactly are you tapping into, what natural force/presence?

ok. what you tap in to depends on the deity you have invoked. Most often (from what i have heard) people tap into the 'mother earth' aspect (basically the Goddess is the mother of us all yadda yadda..) and us it as an authority. Anyone who has the knowledge can tap into which ever aspect they want and draw that power into themselves (eh...see above, the note on "gaining" power). It really only matters on what you want to use it for.

a professor of mine in "science of society" has made a point that i think is very valid.

We have not "evolved" since we came out of africa. Once we became "homo sapian" we have not really changed physically (other than a very few minor things). Humans are most suited to live in warm-hot climates, however we populate almost every environment in the world. without our 'adaptations' we would die.

we have, however, ADAPTED since then. clothing, tools, fire, culture. that is adaptation, not evolution. Humans are most suited to live in warm-hot climates, however we populate almost every environment in the world. without our 'adaptations' we would die.

nah, just kidding. MA res huh? we're neighbors then, i live in the good ol' green-mountain state ... anyways, back to your post.

Welcome to Dreams! / The Grim Reaper?
May 29, 2004, 05:42:23
here's my $0.02
quote:
I always associated the grim reaper with death,

in the Tarot, the grim reaper - a.k.a. DEATH card - doesn't always carry the death meaning. maybe your dream means something else. Death card usually signifies a change of some sort, maybe your dreams could be fortelling of some sort of change that you fear, not necesarilly death.
#24
not to burst the bubble, but it sounds to me like wishful thinking. you said it yourself:
quote:
Recently, I've been thinking about a girl that sits next to me in band more and more. I've wanted to ask her out since the beginning of the year

so it stands to reason that you'd have dreams about her in which your fantasy (dating her) is a reality.

either that or it's your subconscious saying "get off your butt and ask her out you dolt!"

good luck! [:D]
