I believe I have found my problem.  I heard from someone on another board that some people have the sense of vertigo and spinning when they project, and the first time I got vibrations, I didn't remember what I did to get them.  Turns out, if I focus on the inner ringing inside my brain, my heart chakra starts pumping and I start spinning.

Just say 20 minutes ago I tried focusing on that ringing and I had large amounts of vibrations in my legs, not whole body though.  (That was only because my mom and brother were making so much noise I couldn't keep focus.)

Are there some of you that get that sense of vertigo when you project?

I am wondering if I am going about this all wrong.

I first discovered the notion of astral projection during the christmas holiday.  I was on forum about dreaming, and it was discussed.  I think it was quite lucky on my part because the first time I had ever tried I caught myself waking up.  I focused on that ringing noise like someone recommended on that forum and within a couple of minutes I got huge vibrations.  I gained astral sight, but at the time I didn't realize that astral travel was at the speed of thought.  So I failed and simply drifted into sleep once again.

School returned, because of this I wasn't trying anymore.  I became obsessed with all things astral and bought Robert's book, Astral Dynamics, and studied it intensely.  I spent weeks doing energy work, but about month later I forgot all about it.  Summer finally came and for about 4 days I've been trying to project from the awakened state at least once a day.  I find that I easily get into trance, and if I hold it long enough I get a buzzing flow in my legs that stays there as long as I don't move, it even continues after I stand up!  Every once and awhile I can go into a deep, deep trance where I am spinning if I just focus on it.  Heck, now I've been going into trance inconveniently, while trying to go to sleep!  My only problem is deep physical relaxation which I am getting much better at, and projection exit technique.

When I try to focus on raising energy and meditating, I seem to tense my eyebrows, which can only be relaxed conciously.  I think I may be very, very close to a concious exit projection.

The other problem, the rope technique, as simple as it is, does not work for me.  The rope seems to spin everywhere when I try to pull it, I can't really figure out why.  I passed over Robert's Rocket technique in the book and discovered it. I am going to try that tonight.

Three questions:

How close do you think I am to projection?

What do you think I am doing wrong?

Is movement in projectable body much like thinking yourself to move, but not actually trying to move your legs?

I would greatly appreciate some input. [:D]

By the way, if you want to move this topic to members introduction you can, moderators.

IMO APs are just lucid dreams with a fancy exit. So really everything you encounter in an AP is a product of your mind, so they can't really hurt you. Even if you do think that your spirit is actually leaving your body, well then you can think about the fact that nobody who has ever APed has ever reported attacks in APs causing physical damage. You are essentially invincible in APs.

Some people think.  [B)]

I personally believe it's all about the will.

I've come up with a personal theory about OBE success.

Stop talking, worrying, and deliberating about your OBE problems and just keep trying. Any time where there is free time.  You will be ready eventually.

If you fear it, you know it is true for yourself, you can't just reassure it away, because there have been sightings of it.  The thing that you must assure yourself of is that concioussness is immortal.  The only thing to fear is fear itself.

Within my knowledge no.

Maybe it was a cry?

Just a guess though, maybe I've been playing a bit too much FF7.  (If you know what I mean.)

How's that? Perhaps during an LD and an OBE you forget the physical sensations and thus experience no backpain? Do you have a bad back?

I used to have a terrible back because of my flat feet(i don't know if that's the correct expression). But now it's OK and my back is normal. My back NEVER hurts except when I have sensations. I do back massages with awareness hands but it doesn't seem to help. I would really appreciate it if someone told me what to do. Today I had vibrations in the morning again. But my back did hurt. I think it has something to do with my position. Yesterday, I was lying on my side and today I was on my stomach.

Anyhow, thank you for your support people!

How have you tried to fix the back pain in the past?  It could be a number of things, not enough exercise, your bed, et cetera.  You could just stretch it out but, have you tried that?

Maybe, but as it is said, whatever works works.

I think I'm pretty sure what the problem is.  My bed.  My bed is not a bed at all.  It is a foldable metal couch-bed which has a two inch thick futon on it with lumps everywhere.  Yes, that must be it because I've been having a lot of back and neck tension in that damned bed, and that has been the only place I have used the techniques.  I will try some other bed or couch next time.

I'm having a case of the insomnia right now, it's 3 o' clock in the morning and I can't fall asleep.  I need to buy a new bed.

I am going to project.

Yeah.

You see, I'm getting to that point where I know I'm close but the vibrations just wont start.  I get that buzzing across different parts of my body, but no vibrations.  I tried again about an hour ago, and didn't get them.  How long are you supposed to hold the projection techniques?

I'm thinking that any mental technique that exteriorizes concioussness would work.  Even just walking.  But does it have to be focused, repeated exercise to work?

Thanks for the responses.  I needed some self-affirmation from experienced people if you know what I mean.  [|)] Good confidence builder.

I'm going to keep trying, and I will let you guys know when I do finally reach my goal!  The whole reason I got into astral projection is because I wanted to know something about myself.  I always knew there was something beyond the physical, but I always knocked the thought down.  I was brought up a hard-line atheist mostly by my brother.  After reading up on a bit of metaphysics and existentialism (Mostly Descartes) I realized, how can we stop existing if we are?  Surely it doesn't end at this shallow existence known as "life".  There must be something greater than just the monotonous cycles of life.  As Aristotle told us, all men desire to know.  I want to know if this existence is not the end.
