I When the body twitches, it means the body is "going to sleep."

So, I would assume (ha!) that the twitching at the base of your skull is like the twitching you feel elsewhere... Just a sign that you're on the right track, that you're going deeper, whatever.

But I don't think it's anything to worry about.

I've had nights where I set my alarm (sometimes a bit earlier than needed, sometimes not), but the alarm is turned off during the night. I have no memory of turning it off, but when I wake in the morning, it's off. And I'm running late.

And this is usually under "normal" circumstances. I don't meditate often, and when I do, I don't go very deep.

I'm in the same boat as you, being somewhat new to the whole meditation and AP thing. I've been looking into it for a month or so...

I can't say that I've had any of the sensations that you've felt except for one.

The electrical charge.

The last time I meditated, I remember seeing myself drawing a woman with a piece of charcoal. Then "As I made a hook-shaped mark, a burst of energy bolted through my body. And right after, I think I started to get tingly."

The burst of energy... It left me... startled. So, I let myself fall out of whatever state I was in.

I really don't know what to make of it either...

But I thought I would share. :)

QuoteAny. If you can see when you are involved in writing or drawing or daydreaming, then you should be able to see in meditation.

Awesome. 8)

And thanks a bunch for the link, Shinobi. I read through it, but it seems that medittion is one of those strange things that has a different definition for each person.

But I'm definitly going to return to my old way of "focusing on a single thing" in hope of quieting that raving maniac in my head.

Thanks for the link Shinobi. I skimmed through your link really quick. It looks like it will be helpful. I'm going to take a closer look at what was posted in that thread tomorrow. :)

And Wizard of light--
QuoteCan you imagine stuff in your mind and see pictures when using your imagination? Imagination is the key tool to seeing stuff in meditation. Most people think that their imagination is irrelevant, but you would be surprised at what an amazing tool it is!

Does the part of the imagination involved in writing and drawing count? Or are you talking about the day-dreaming kind of imagination?

Since when is there more than one type of imagination?

I'm not really one to give any advice to you because, well, I'm just like you.

I'll be thrown into circumstances that *make* me angry, but I don't let the anger rise to the surface. i just will it away or something.

But in my humble opinion, what I think we need to do is to just let go and not give a crap what other people will think when we let our rage flow.

Though letting go can be hard...

So, the basic gist of meditation is to sit back and see what will come?

Because when I started, I "forced" myself down the rabbithole my repeatedly telling myself, "I am going down the hole." And it worked. For a while.

Once the "forcing" stopped to work, I've been letting my mind go as it willed when I meditate. I've had random images, random thoughts, random lyrics pass through my head, but I haven't felt that "deeper" sensation since the first way I tried to meditate.

I always thought unconscious met being knocked out cold and that subconscious is the dark sewers within our minds.

But this was a fourth grade definition, so... Maybe there was a mix up.

Welcome to Astral Consciousness! / Some questions

Hi, Mrs. Murphy. :D Thanks for the welcome and all!

I've been thinking about this for the past few days, trying to think of ways to try to get rid of these unwanted fears. I'm going to go and check the book I'm using to see what she says about vanquishing these demons. But, out of curiosity, how did you overcome those dreaded subconscious fears?

And I keep confusing unconscious for subconscious.

But I'm glad to hear that I'm on the right track with all these strange sensations. :D And I'm going to go run a search on heart chakra, see what I find. I'm glad to hear it's nothing to worry about.

And I realized something else today. I think I'm trying too hard to be successful. I find holes down without a problem, but when I begin to fall, I think I try to force my way back to the sewers because that's when I was the most successful in "going deep." And as I climb down, I drown out the sticky music--it always comes and it relentless--with my little mantra--"I am going down the hole," and eventually, I'm nearly screaming over the music. Probably a bad thing, right? When I try again, I think I'm going to just try and "let go", see where that gets me.

Thanks again! :D

Hi there. I'm new too this forums and the whole idea of projection and whatnot--just started taking it seriously a few weeks ago. But I'll try to answer some of your questions based on the info I've been picking up here and there.

1) I've never done it. I've heard stories, er, a story about someone on acid that saw Jesus or something, but, no, I've never seen him or anything.

2) From what I've read, you can go back in the past, but it's all on the astral plane. You'd interact with what you found there, and all, but it wouldn't be in the physical world.

3) Dunno. They're in the deepest state of sleep--delta--but that's all I know.

4) This comes from first hand experience, but not with actual projections. When I meditate, or, try to meditate, I'll be "down there" for what seems to be a long time--maybe an hour--, but when I "come up", only a half hour or so will have passed.
But I think it's the same way with projections. And dreams. You might feel like you're there for hours, maybe days, and when you do come home, you'll feel as if you traveled long and far. But in truth, you have been away for a short while, and you were sitting in your place while you wandered.

5) Dunno. I suppose it's possible. And you said you found out about the Island, which is kind of like that--I think.

6) Just hope for the best, I guess. ;)

7) Dunno, haven't heard about any of this before. But I guess you'd want to be careful with who you talk to in case there's a bad entity there pretending to be a good one. Probably get to know whoever you're talking to before you spill the beans.

8 ) I've never been there. The book I'm using... The writer said the Akashic Hall looks how you personally think it'll look. If you think it's going to be a grand library, that's what it'll be. If you think it'll be a moviehouse, that's what it'll be. If you think it's going to be in a little shack on the borderline of the creepy woods behind your house, that's what it'll be.

9) Dunno.

I hope some of my somewhat vague answers were helpful. I'm sure one of the more knowledgable guys here will be able to answer everything. :o

Welcome to Astral Consciousness! / Some questions
August 12, 2005, 19:05:24
I've been interested in astral projection and the like for ages, but it's really an on/off interest. Except for these past few weeks... I've been seriously trying every day.

Now, I haven't actually had a projection--at least I don't remember having any, but I do have some questions regarding meditation. And I hope this is the right area to be posting. I saw the word meditation among some other words...

And now... The questions.

~ I've read that you have to relax your body completely before you try to calm your mind. Now, will having a body that is not completely relaxed hinder me later on, or is a somewhat relaxed body okay? Do you just feel "loose" when totally relaxed or is the feeling different for each person and depending on the technique?

~ When I'm sitting, random songs pop into my head and stay there. For a long time. When I'm meditating I have no music playing, and when I do meditate, it's at a time of the day when I have yet to hear any music. Will the "sticky music" cause any problems for me? Or will it be okay if I can learn to ignore it?

~ And this is somewhat odd. I'm not scared of what I saw, but still, I think it might make me feel better to know what it means. When I was meditating, I came across myself down in the sewers. This "other me" made it known that he didn't want me to be meditating/projecting. Now, I don't think I have any conscious fears of projecting, but could this "other me"--whether it be my imagination or not--cause problems?

~ And some strange feelings I've had.
--I've had "less there" feelings, and I'm guessing this is part of that Focus 10 or something. Where you lose sensations?
--One time, it felt as if my heart was beating really fast, so I "woke up" to find that my heart was beating at it's normal rate, everything fine here.
--The one time that I took the Progressive Relaxation seriously, I had a weird flowing sensation in my lower left leg.
--One night, I had the feeling that either my body was larger, the room was larger, or both. I'm leaning towards the answer of, "Both."
--And today two waves of tingly-ness overcame my body.

All while meditating or while trying to meditate.

Welcome to Astral Chat! / UNDER 18 AP goers
July 31, 2005, 16:39:29
Hey. I'm 18--will be 19 in a month--and have been interested in paranormal stuff for... well, as far back as I can remember.

And AP and meditation... Well, that's more of a new interest that came about a couple years ago for reasons I don't recall.

I haven't actually had a successful AP yet--unless you count this dream that someone said could have been a Dream-to-AP or something like that.

But I have gotten better at keeping my body still. Now, I just need to work on calming my mind.

The book's called Astral Projection for Beginners by Edain McCoy.

The lady at the occult-ish shop I went to said that this book was the best book on AP she had.

Well, here's the unrequired, but recommended "Introduction Post." :)

I've had an on/off interest in astral projection and the like for a couple years. I came across this site during one of those "on" phases ages ago, but never posted, and just... forgot about this site.

This summer, I bought a book on astral projection and fell back into one of those "on" phases. I've been working at it--though not very religiously  --and I have decided to come back to this site.

I've looked around a little bit, but not too much. Yet.

So, yeah, I'm done talking now. :)
