Oh come on dont play out all the tricks we have...

- Stare at your palm every now and often. This is very basic. It brings on all kind of goodies.

I've found some .wav copies at the emule network (complete Wave I). I'd definately go for the lossless, not for crap mp3s with unknown history. Mp3s may retain most carriers (slightly undulating when closely packed together) but sophisticated noise shapening will be lost.

The best way to practice with these programs is probably ,,binaural exposition." While it's difficult to project on them, they still potentiate OBE-specific oscillators in your brain. After 30 minutes or so (trim off the awakening sequence) plug in some earplugs and lock your attention on the increased inner noises.

Hi there friends, how is validation going today? I just wanna say I feel your pain Stookie. Looking for cracks and other minute details was somewhat typical for me when that creepy ,,im inda R.T.Z." feeling would sneak in. But in reality, the more I was focused on details the more I was away from the RTZ.

The first thing you may notice when you hit the right spot in consciousness is how all encompassing and fluid your perception is. The key is to perceive in gestalts. You may also have a mild spheric distortion like looking through that peephole on doors or whatever, you know what I mean. So if you're going for those details that's already bad enough.

What you have experienced was an OBE by definition, because you had the sensation of leaving your body. Whether this feeling was based on actual energetics or not doesnt matter. Most of us call these experiences OBE anyway. What really matters is that you actually did it, you really projected your personality out of its habitual constraints, and this just gets easier and easier.

Sensory fitting, and fluctocondensation practices in general, are designed to turn the typical OBEs into energetic experiences by sort of condesning the energy body into a form which is capable to interact with the energy fields of physical objects. It enables you to have glimpses of the waking reality. First you will see your sleeping body as a pulsating mass on the bed. Then, being exposed to all kinds of electromagnetic fields and potencials you have to learn to fly again.

From ground up you can build to perceive the astral as it really is leaving behind your expectations about what it should be. You may have good results even at your first try with these practices, but in order to stabilize your achivements you would have to go through many hours of dreaming practices. Still, as soon as you quit regression will happen, unfortunately. Take a look on the basics here if you are still interested. http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/welcome_to_permanent_astral_topics/a_guide_to_rtz_obe_from_ld-t23972.0.html

By theta and delta I meant different states of sleep (conscious or not) where the brain produces predominantly either theta or delta waves. Most dreams are played out before a strong theta background, while the deepest sleep states are associated with delta brain waves. Other waves are also produced during these states but theta and delta waves have the greatest amplitude. Just spin the google with words, like sleep, egg, theta, delta etc.

QuoteI have read the FAQs for phasing; however, I would still like to clarify one thing if anyone knows the answer. Is preferable to focus on the area between your brow while attempting to phase?

If you are tired enough you can directly focus on the midbrow. But if you are well rested it may be counterproductive depending on your mental activity and involvement in other conscious focuses. Basically it would keep your cortex fairly active whereas you want to shut it down.

The 3D blackness is the same state for the visually inclined as the expanded energy body for those who concentrate on whole body sensations. One can access this state by putting pressure on the temples or by breathing into the navel regio. Both are associated to the temporal lobes, theta generation and the expansion of the energy body.

Then you are ready to roll out and have an OBE or you can internalize into the central channel and propel yourself upward. This is where the ajna chakra comes into view. Although the midbrow and ajna center superimposes onto each other they belong to different layers of the energy body.

To fully access the chakra system you have to internalise into the central channel at first. Focusing onto the midbrow center is a way to keep your frontal lobe active and your waking consciousness stable in a state where sensory and cognitive experiences converge. It's the ideal focus to center and instruct yourself before the real attempt.

Quote1)was it a dream of obe (fact that i didn't saw my body on bed is what troubles me)?

It was an OBE by definition. Having a ,,real" OBE is a little bit trickier and need you to sort of fit your sensory experiences to the physical world.

Quote2)why i had troubles to stay in my body?

Could be the result of your thoughts or specific suggestions while you have fallen asleep. Also, if you go directly to delta bypassing theta you will be automatically ejected.

Quote3)what was that damn siluete on my windows?

Its called the dweller of the threshold. As long as you remain close to your body you are basically in your personal subconscious. You may want to confront this figure to fasten your progress.

Besides nightmares ,,neg attacks" come with increased awarereness of the dream bedroom around your body, false awakenings, spooky visitors, etc. Basically, excess vital energy (which you should have to kickstart and sustain your OBE carieer) makes unintegrated fragments of our personality appear and confront your center. You may want to practice emptiness meditation and cultivate the inner light.

Im with Sarah on this and found jub jub's advice works very well especially when combined with alternate nostril breathing (nadi sodhana pranayama) before your attempt.

I think the internal heart sensation is fairly overrated in significance. At least I experienced similar sensations only a couple of times and only while being already out (although still close to the body) or while sitting in deep meditation.

It probably happens when the thalamus is about to cut off the brain from the motory system but the process becomes prolonged for some reason. Otherwise you just get a throb like pressure that you may sleep through anyway and its pretty much done.

The sudden increase of heart rate, on the other hand, is a real pain at the beginning. It may come hand in hand with episodes of catching yourself not breathing at all usually followed by one or two irregular breaths.

I'm fairly sure that these sensations and symptoms are due to a purification process of some sort that one has to pass through in order to get the ability to fall asleep consciously. This is how the nervous system rebalances itself.

Involuntary jerks, for example, seem to be related to the descending energetic channels of the front and problems start to appear when one dicovers the role of these channels in relation with breathing in putting the body into sleep.

The actual rapid heart beat involves the temporal imbalance of the sympathetic and parasymphatetic nervous system. This system manifest in the body as thrusting channels (also called ida and pingala). One needs to balance these vessels at first to access the consciousness of the energy body in the abdomen. There are many variations of nadi sodhana, my favorite is the buddhists 9 round breathing and sivananda's kundalini pranayama.

Forget about theory, forget everything. Just express your intent, relax, and let the purification process unfold. Center yourself in your abdomen then supress your thoughts by observing your breathing and the whole of your body. Gently reaffirm your goal every time you catch yourself drifting off. That's all. If you do this every day for 2 weeks after 4-6 hours of sleep and sufficient wakefullness, you will inevitably succeed both in purification and having your first full-blown OBE.

1. Belief Constructs

What is "real" and what is a "belief construct"?  When does an etheric body stop being "real" and become a belief construct?  We can never say, because there is no distinction between these two ideas, they are equal.

The "reality" in which we find ourselves is simply a consensus environment in which all consciousnesses agree on a common environment.  The rules of this environment become what we percieve as the "out there".  However there is no need for there to be an "out there" at all.  Most likely there is no actual "out there" at all, just a common consensus of how things are.  So our "physical bodies" are just a consensus belief construct - in fact a very pwerful one.  Similarly the etheric body is a consensus belief construct.

But there is no distinction between a "consensus belief construct" and a "real" objective thing.  So for this reason I think it's just as valid to talk about "etheric bodies" as it is to talk about "physical bodies".

My exact thoughts on the subject, catmeow.

There are at least 5 types of paralysis:

1. Passive (NREM) paralysis: very low muscle tone as a result of deep sleep or progressive muscle relaxation

Active paralysis (spinal motoneurons' membrane are kept hyperpolarised by a specific group of brainstem neurons causing motor weakness):

2. Cataplexy (don't confuse with catalepsy): a symptom associated with narcolepsy. The muscles are actively paralysed but the physical environmental awareness is kept, eyes can follow physical objects. Acetylcholinergic activity and hippocampal theta is similar to that of in REM sleep, but hystamine neurons (which shut off in all known stages of sleep) remain completely active. Another interesting thing is that noradrenergic activity in locus coeruleus strickly follows the cataplexy episode, meaning that noradrenerg neurons instantly and completely switch off at the onset of cataplexy episode then start to fire immediately afterwards again.

3. Active paralysis in a predream state: you are stuck in the paralysed physical body reflecting its inability to move from the hara region (pressure is felt here) - probably has the same neurophysiological background as cataplexy.

4. Normal dream state paralysis in REM sleep: one part of awareness (the dreamer) is in the body-bounded etheric body (bioplasm) associated with the solar plexus, the other part (the dreamt) experiences a dream (via the throat center that is appear to be mainly the projection of the hippocampus-amigdala complex). When dreaming attention collapses you are in the void of the bioplasm body, able to reconnect to the dreaming self or roll out in a phantom body into the dream version of the room (not a real separation). You can also ooze out with a portion of bioplasm body but it will soon reintegrate freeing up the body-unbounded RTZ field.

5. Paralysis via RTZ-projection: you are in the body-unbounded etheric body (which may realize itself directly from the physical vacuum), already projected and free to move around with this vehicle but for some reason still reflecting physical paralysis from the chest region (pressure is felt here).

When you enter the astral the compact sensory field of this "RTZ body" is supposed to decondense into a domain of Earth's magnetopshere. From the viewpoint of a waking observer it may look like an explosion in space by which all the activity that the RTZ double encompass would merge back into the physical vacuum. The field became intermingled with other consciousness fields but keeps coherence as a sign of individuality.

QuoteOh, upstream, so I should kinda exit through my navel?

Sure, Andrew. There is an exit point there, probably the biggest after the crown of the head. Not quite at the navel but little above where the ribs start to diverge. It's a fist sized soft spot below the sternum. It's probably not a phyisical structure but a projection of the mind that's just roughly correspond to the human anatomy.

Pushing yourself through the solar plexus can be done many inefficient ways but even after you know what to do it might still be difficult. You may have already noticed that your felt body has a water like quality in that immobile state, like ballon filled with water that you can push out here and there causing other parts to become tensed.

To make it brief, the best way I can descibe the proper action is like condensing your fluid body in the solar plexus, pulling energy back from the extremities into the geometric center of your energy field until you sort of repelled out.

Another way is to try to separate without moving your body or changing the position of limbs relative to each other, that is, separating your virtual body at once. This method however, involves the creation of a second body which makes the experience more dreamy by default.

I found an interesting relationship between how a double separates and the type of resulting experience. When the virtual body detaches first at the legs the result would be a "heavy, etheric" projection. If the upper part of your dream body is what comes out first you likely separate within (the personal part of) the common dream plane.

In between these two extremes is what seems to be the ideal focus for having a balanced RTZ experience. This focus is the middle of the chest which neither belongs to the physical nor to the dream state of consciosuness. The polarity flip, when you found yourself laying in head-leg position, occurs through this point and might symbolize total detachement from the physical senses.

You can try to set this chest consciosuness by trying to separate without moving as I described above but I found it very difficult. This part of consciousness also requires bioplasm to be associated with, othewise your attention would slowly shift toward the dream state (which is a general trend anyway). So it's more easy to try the bioplasmic exit  through your solar plexus and not insisting to the human form whatsoever.

Experience of the subtle realms by John Heron, Chapter 3. Visits to the other world

QuoteI lie in bed, it does not matter in what position as long as I am very deeply relaxed both mentally and physically.  I then imagine all the energy in my body being drawn to a central point around the area of the solar plexus: I consciously 'withdraw' energy from all the extremities and focus it, condense it, in this one place - which is really, of course, a subtle space within the physical body.

I must hold this conscious focus of energy in the subtle region of the solar plexus, without any distraction of attention to, or any 'leaking' back of energy to, the extremities. The challenge is to sustain the focus for a sufficient time, in a state that combines intense alertness with deep relaxation. The activity of consciousness is contracted to a central point, without drifting back to the limbs - which remain totally inert, dispossessed. Then, after a certain period of charging up, the process of going out begins.

Going out is a dramatic experience.  There is a very powerful  and very rapid spiral thrust of energy, an intense vortex of motion in subtle space, that hurtles my consciousness from the solar plexus region up to and out through my head.  It is like being carried off in a rushing whirlwind.

The second entry is from a very good read that I have recently come upon and highly recommend to all. Now I know if I'm delusional at least I'm not alone in my craze. I like the way the author emphatizes the role of preexit consciousness in the fate of projection and how he makes destinction between energy exit and rolling/laming out.

Excerpts from "A Short Discourse on OBE Perception" by Gavin Howden:

QuoteIf I OBE from this state I have to perform an energy exit (an energy exit is an exit as nothing more than a cloud of awareness, no astral body is involved), I usually exit from around my solar plexus area.  I find that once I am out of body, I think perfectly, I can comprehend as though I was awake, and all of my desires and wants and wishes still exist in very clear form.  The world in which I am OBE is also a very exact rendition of the waking reality.  It is as though I am fully awake, with a full waking consciousness.  Important to note is that my consciousness whilst OBE represents my consciousness on the point just before exit, no change takes place. (...)

I have tried a huge multitude of exit techniques, and I don't think that my experiences with them would be much different to anyone else's.  I find that the single easiest exit technique going is the roll over and fall out method.  This does seem to leave me with a much more subjective experience though.  I always try for the energy exit and then if I just really am not having any luck with it I opt for the roll out method. (...)

Once hypnogogic I can usually see already but occasionally I need to concentrate hard to see, by actually intending to see.  If I cannot see quickly the experience often becomes really confused as when I start to see I think my eyes are actually open and I lose track of what I am doing!

All going well up to this stage, and usually it is, I will begin to destroy everything strange that I can see around me.  I just look at things very critically and try to wipe everything I can, by using my mind until almost nothing is left except the room, as it pretty much should be.  The idea is to erase subjectivity, challenge everything that does not look right and gain as higher level of awareness and balance that you can.  You will soon find that you can pretty much command the environment by thought.

Next step is to attempt an energy exit. An energy exit is an OBE exit that does not involve an astral double or any kind of bodily-related action such as standing or rolling out. I pull all the energy up from each of my legs and try to hold it in my stomach, and then I pull energy down from my arms and shoulders into my stomach.

I well this energy up until it may feel quite uncomfortable before I move it to my solar plexus.  This is the trick.  I move my awareness energy down from my head into the solar plexus and then continue out of my solar plexus so that I am projecting out of my body into the room.  When I have to try really hard for this exit, it usually wont work and then I fall back to the 'Roll out" exit instead.

When the energy exit is successful I am not really aware of the transfer of consciousness until I am maybe a foot out of my body, then my point of view seems to change to the front of this extruding energy.  A bit more of a push and I seem to spring out, as if the energy is elasticised and when it brakes free of the body I catapult and spring maybe 10 feet, all quite slowly.  I also spin all the way, really as if some tension has been broken.

I try hard not to do anything as I would when in my body as these actions such as touching etc tend to build me an astral double and my experience becomes less objective.  I like to observe from here and quite enjoy floating around aimlessly. You can still move around by the power of thought but care is required to prevent subjective pollution.

Everything looks like it's a dead stage, hard to explain, but everything looks lifeless and hard.  Strange thing is that even though you have no real form all the senses seem to work from all points of your awareness cloud.  You can feel the temperature and texture of things your cloud touches as well as the taste and smell of them.  In this state you are very aware of your physical body, from its breathing and heart beat to the paralysis if you try to speak or move too suddenly.

The exit process can be a major factor towards the objectivity of projection experience.  The non-energy exits can be very clumsy and often take several attempts each leaving you a little more un-balanced until you finally achieve the exit. Sometimes I just appear out of body and I am instantly submerged in dreaminess.

I like the distinction you made between the two kind of RTZ environment. RTZ1 is what I often call "fake RTZ" but I think the common dream plane would be a more appropriate term. The root of this state is the state where false awakenings happen, that is, inside your mind as it projects out into the melleable environment in a form of the house you sleep in. The common dream plane is made of a lose net of human minds, appearing like houses. The space inbetween is pretty much unformed. RTZ1 is somehow associated with the upper part of the chest and the type of sleep paralysis of a more hallucinatory nature.

The "real RTZ" what you call RTZ2 is the state of stone cold paralyis and has to do something with the genital region. It's really an immobile state but if you shift your attention to the solar plexus centered bioplasm ("ethreic") body you can move around freely as a blob of attention and perceive the physical world as it is.

Welcome to Out of Body Experiences! / Re: good foods?
September 11, 2006, 20:33:51
Yay you just mentioned the two of my choice, lecithin and brewer's yeast so I left with yoghurt, and raw eggs. Bananas and chocholade are also good. There are many food to boost REM activity, especially that rich in tryptophan. Another neat trick is to trigger the so called "insuline response" by having a protein rich meat followed with a good dose of carbohydrate.

http://www.askdrsears.com/html/4/T042400.asp

You may mix two raw eggs with some youghurt and brewer's yeast and eat it with a banana right before falling asleep. Or try curd or cheese. What is important to eat tryptophan rich food, then sleep at least for one sleep cycle (I strongly advise two) then eat 1 tablespoon white sugar or a potato to trigger the insuline response about 3 hours after the proteins were taken. If you do this wild dreams are pretty much garanteed at the later part of the night even at your first try. It is entirely up to you how to proceed.

It is only one side of the trick which influences only the intensity of dreams. If you want long and stable dreams you have to boost acetylcholine level, too. Try to sleep as much as you can in the 3 hours interim (it may be difficult) and try to wake up right before the subsequent REM sleep period. To optimally increase REM-pressure and enter into dreaming without delay you need to stay awake for 2.5 hrs. Staying up for 70-80 minutes should be the second best choice for most people.

The most profound way to boost acetylcholine level would be to take some galantamine or Huperzine-A pill or other acetylesterase inhibitor with agood source of choline like lecithin or eggs during sleep interruption. DMAE is reported to work too. I have not yet tried any of them except lecithin.

http://www.ecstasium.com/images/Lucid%20Dreams%20and%20DMAE.pdf

A more natural way to boost acetylcholine is to stimulate your lower dantien by raising energy through your legs, preferably all along while you are awake. You can also boost serotonin level by practicing trakata or looking into the sun at early mornings.

I found if I prolong dreams by forced reseparations up to the point where I start to feel sluggish in the dream and got the vision that keeps turning gray I exercise my brain muscles for OBE. Doing this for at least one week, preferably every day, does really open up something in your mind which makes projection just as easy as pooping while you are diarrhoeic.

These are powerful methods. Combining them can seriously throw your brain chemistry out of balance so be very cautious. If you stick with the natural and avoid external drugs you should be fine. Timings I mentioned are important but might require some fine tunings. Do not deviate until you have enough experience or you are sure you understand the principles.

Sounds good but what is outside?

QuoteBasically, you have to try and feel the astral body and make it expand, feel wires coming out of it and focus your attention on objects ; something happens automatically when you focus on something, it's as if wires came out of you and grab whatever you're looking at. As you spread this "area of influence" into objects around you, you become more strongly anchored into the dreamscape and your lucidity increases dramatically.

Finally someone who understand..lol. You put it so clearly kiwibonga. Basically what you described is the process by which the allocentric perceptual space turns into egocentric during the stabilization of the dream state. In the background I suspect a slowly condensing sensory field that keeps in touch with other energy fields by thread like spurs driven by pure attention. You may find my guide to RTZ OBE from LD useful. It's really an outrage against English, but I approach the problem from a very practical point of view that you might find useful. If you found something relevant please post in that topic, it seriously needs more attention.

It may seem religious at first glance, but soon you will realize it is just universal. Highly recommended.

No, it will actually improve your eye sight. Just like staring into the sun, no kidding. But to safely practice sungazing you should read around first.

Your eyes are not wide open during trakata and won't dry up. The process of learning to reduce the eyes' natural fickering will improve physical eye mechanisms and coordination.

The real benefit is that stillness of eyes induces stillness of mind. Trakata will eventually bring you down to the level of hypnagogia. It increases REM pressure and probably boosts serotonin level too.

You may want to try an LD-specific trakata like zhine, or staring into your own eyes in a mirror. This will introduce your face into hypnagogia and might render you lucid automatically.

Concentrate on the entire field of your vision while keeping your eyes motionless to assist to stop thinking altogether.

now that's a master plan  :-D

Clocks act weird when I'm close to the RTZ. If I turn away then back to check the time again it would change. But if I were keep doing this eventually the clock will show a time that is very close to the real time.

I've used this trick many times, mostly standing in the door and alternately looking at two (sometimes three) digital clocks until they shown roughly the same time. By this point  other signs of having an RTZ OBE would be also appear, such as sea legs or even total disappearance of the dream body, or peripherically active vision. Snapshots of spherical vision can appear, too, but usually remain unnoticed until I wake up. It doesn't feel strange while I'm experiencing it but does afterward.

I never done the synchronization trick on analogue clocks though. It may have some significance as getting time from analogue clocks needs interpretation. If you interested check out my guide in the permanent section. The clock trick is only part of those tools I developed for turning close-to-bed dreams to "real" RTZ OBEs.

I take spherical vision as a sign of presence of a condensed energy field, apparently electromagnetic in nature, localised at the point of observation.  I don't think though it's limited to the RTZ. It's just a raw mode of perception without the veils of the ordinary dream state.

Also, it's rather weird that clocks that even don't exist or appear at the wrong place can also be used for the synchronization trick. It's similar to checking the time at the morning without opening your eyes. You want to know what time it is and your mind tricks you into dreaming about looking at the clock. It supports the idea that something in our mind keeps tracking the consensus time and even RTZ perception is not direct but heavily interpreted on the fly.
#21
I also use something similar. I used to practice trakata before sleep (staring at things without blinking) until my head drops and I start to hallucinate. I often do the same before attempting an OBE but while laying. It helps to gain some focus and make affirmations without accidentally falling into sleep.

Suggestions that are separated by silence have a lot more power. I time periods on the clock which I stare on. This will make me sleepy in no time. If not I start to rythmically open and close my eyes in synch with my breaths. I would also move my eyeballs slowly up and down as if I were at the verge of sleep.
#22
I too often project this way. At first like noise surges are pretty irregular like coming in every 5-10 seconds. Then pauses slowly decrease between and surges merge into a continous harsh sizzle. This would be followed by complete silence or I my attention shifts and the noise turns into music which will continue at the periphery of my awareness.

The only factor I identified so far in encouraging this process is to be as passive as possible, ceasing all kind of activity, not moving and not thinking at all, sort of falling inward, collapsing on the bed. It's quite remarkable that you are able to move without losing the sensation.

It also helps if I gently keep my attention on a point above my head and breath very slowly and shallow. Sometimes I imagine two point at my temples rapidly moving apart and away from my head then back again, like keep pusing a membrane.
#23
QuoteWhen I stare at anything for a period of time I get a lot of visual distortions, shapes, colours and patterns increasingly dominating my visual field (a white seems to be quite dominant, as if things start glowing). It's actually quite like psychedelics, with little bits of coloured things wizzing around my vision, and seeming fractal shapes. It's interesting to see my face melt into this maelstrom of colours and patterns.

For me it's like a greenish glow that engulfs everything. If I stare into the mirror different faces would appear at this point superimposed on mine. Looking into my own eyes set up a feedback which generates energy for willing things to happen. This unfamilar energy invades consciousness at first as a deep irrational fear.
#24
Nice one. You just keep bringing on all these uberkool techniques. I'd better keep up on you in that. So I got this idea.... since I'm not really into running and more like a couch potato... but the credists go to you of course.... so I can easily imagine people using your 1-2-3 technique while popping their cocks diligently: 1, 2, 3, 4... I will astral project today...5, 6, 7...I feel vibrations.

But seriosuly, nice one TVOS. Synchronizing suggestions with rhythmic breathing and movements during periods of whole body activation, should do the job. Another way to be very efficient with suggestions is to separate them with long periods of inner silence. This is often enough for an OBE if your goal is simply to recognize when you're able to roll out.
#25
The inner screen is sort of inverted in the OBE state, peripherically active I'd say. It's especially evident during the more powerful RTZ OBEs when objects even couldn't be directly looked at. They are only perceptible at the periphery. This was a serious frustration for me that led me to question waking reality itself.

We don't really perceive reality. It is said that 90% of what we "see" is driven from memory. The constant stream of sensory input just modulates the dream what we call waking reality.

I usually have no problems with reading books in dreams, although rereading a line would make it change. When the doesn't change I should consider it as important information. But dream books often read themselves by becoming as an independent thread of thoughts. It's like dreams that continue after waking up in a verbal manner.
