Why astral project?

Because.....

I've not met a dweller yet in my experiences but I'm sure they exist if people want them to. A way to overcoming fears etc. If that's your personal thing then fine I guess.

Sometimes I feel I would like to have met mine and have a good old epic battle like in a fantasy movie or something

Quote from: IvandaIt is amazing how much we can achieve when we stop concentrating and just relax!

I am learning to play guitar and it works out the best when I just let it flow!
Music is a great relaxant actually. I sometimes jam away at the keyboard or guitar and almost have what some call a mind split effect when I'm relaxed enough, where part of me is definately somewhere else at the same time.

Same with obes. When I'm relaxed and in a 'couldn't care less' adventuring mindset I'm usually succesful in getting an obe or wake induced Lucid dream.  People tend to call this 'daydreaming' . I was always accused of daydreaming in my school years. Good to know this 'bad habit' according to my teachers has turned into a useful catylist for successful obes

There is an important lesson there in that the second body imposes various limitatations on your experience. Quite simply, there is the issue of travel, which includes time and space considerations, in moving from one place to another. As soon as you find yourself in a second body, these constructs of belief start to become highly active, and there will be the expectations of flying (or whatever mode of transportation) as well as duration to go from one place to another.

Without a second body on the other hand, such primary beliefs have less sway on the movement of your consciousness, and you will generally be able to move around more easily once you know how switch attention from one place to another, or change your focus so to speak. Hence, the prelude to phasing.

That is so true for me. I'm only really a novice at this game compared to some of you but if I take my 'second body' with me I get into a right mess.

Only the other day I had the astral screen (hypnogogic images) going while in a mind awake/body asleep state and this nice sky with clouds came up and I decided to fly into it and explore. Well, I took my astral body with me and was waving my arms frantically trying to stay aloft, so ended up falling, lol.......now if I had just been a point of consciousness (like I have on a couple of occassions) I would have been just fine

Welcome to Dreams! / Clarification on WILD?
September 04, 2004, 02:56:33
I have searched a bit on the subject but still not sure exactly if what I'm having can be classified as wake induced lucid dreams (WILD)

I had another lucid dream today and it came about after waking from a normal dream then I got up for about 30mins and went back to bed....I decided it might be a good opportunity to try for an obe, but what actually happened as I settled into a nice relaxed state is I seemed to jump straight to a dream state (but Lucid). Before this I was getting some hypnogogic scenes but didn't feel I was in focus 10 state, just very relaxed. Anyway, when in this lucid dream state I was fullly aware and knew I had just switched.....it was set in my bedroom but the scenery was not totally accurate....a wall that has a basin sink & cupboards wasn't there, instead it was just a bare wall, etc but I strangely couldn't move very well and eventually decided to abort the lucid dream. I willed myself to return to physical and a split second later I was back in bed as normal.

So, WILD is when you sort of 'phase' into the dream state consciously? As some people talk of waking then going back into a dream state, or having a false awaking.....not sure which one mine fits, as it could also be a false awakening in the sense I thought I'd jogged myself awake from a very relaxed state (as we do sometimes)

Anyone know exactly what I had?....and is there any interesting links online I can maybe study this further or any good books on the subject? I'm keen to explore this further

Thanks [:)]

I thought it about time I surfaced and stopped lurking[:D]

Breifly, it's only recently I've been having OBE experiences (or so I thought!...I'll explain below)) and found this site while searching the net on this phenomena...and a mighty fine place this is too! I've learnt a great deal of useful info from you helpful folks

I guess it's time I shared some experiences and joined the fray so to speak. Will post up on my novice beginnings in OBE soon, altho I have now discovered (after understanding OBE more) that I have been most likely having spontaneous OBEs since early childhood....it's all very fascinating and exciting, but also many things seem so obvious, like I've kind of had this knowledge tucked away in me for as long as I can remember

Anyway, hello to all [:)]

I thank Frank who posted above and others here and elsewhere for their valued experience, it helped me take the plunge into obe. Great advice to be had here

But as a reletive novice I'll add my 2 penny's worth....I can say that so far my obe experiences have been pleasant. I also had some misgivings before I started to try obe. I had several spontaneous one's as a kid which were a bit scary but at the time I didn't know what was happening or what they were....but since I've been having controlled ones everything has been fine. The vibrations startled me a bit to begin with but now I welcome them and they seem more of a comforting thing than anything

I've not come across anything negative yet and as others say, you can't really be harmed by them anyway.....have a mindset that's positive and curious and it should be alright. That's how I do it and so far so good [:)]

But hey, I'm a rank beginner, so I'm not really qualified to quell your fears. Just thought I'd post as an example of someone new to it and it aint killed me yet [:D]....on the contrary, it's been a wonderful uplifting experience[;)]

Go for it

I really should start up a dream journal, I already started one for obes but since I've started having those my dreams are becoming more meaningful it seems. They are not as abstract as they were before. I have had 2 definate lucid dreams also since I started to have obes.

I would say that my dreams now are definately having an effect on my waking life. I can recognise messages and lessons. Maybe they were always there but the obe thing has made me more focused in the dreams?...not sure, but it's nice anyway. I haven't had any nasty dreams, infact have not had a nightmare for years...is this normal?

Last nights dream was a real epic movie length experience. I won't go into details as it was very personal but will say it had a very positve effect on me, like so many recently. I also noticed in this dream it was extremely vivid at times...I could make out intricate details which were always fuzzy before. I didn't become lucid as such but it was very memorable...

Anyway, happy dreaming [:)]

As for discovering my spiritual side I would say Robert Monroe's 'Journey out of the body' has been the catalyst for me....must read his other books sometime as they concentrate more on phasing I believe, which is what I'd like to become adept at

Welcome to Astral Chat! / Mind Control & Cults
September 03, 2004, 11:06:57
I think wisp has expressed it best when saying society is one big cult.

It contains cults within the big cult which is also known as the Earth Life System....I guess all these things are here to try us, tease us, etc. For me personally, I avoid cults with a passion as they are indicative of mind control by others. I believe we have our own destiny(individually) or particular stage of growth spiritually, which is unique to us alone. We are mostly likely heading in the same direction eventually but at a different rate. Cults to me interfere with this. However, those that become embroiled in them (belief systems)then it's maybe their choice to from a higher level. What I'm saying is, I can see through them, but in a past life I may well have been in a cult myself

So, they are just another aspect of our learning here on Earth, imo
