What were the different sensations you felt?
What I have felt could be described as similar to a numbness. That sensation you get from novocaine at the dentist office is somewhat accurate. This occurs after the sleep paralysis. Tingling, numb pulses. Then waves hit and cause strange feelings as I teeter between conscious awareness and a dream consciousness. I give myself a suggestion to jolt me if I start to fall to deeply asleep, so I ended up sensing these short bursts of, what I would describe as non-painful electrical shocks. There are no temperature sensations of warm or cold or feelings that I could be described as being the result of physical movement. There is still sensation of the body, and by that I mean I can still sense my limbs. In fact the sense of my physical body is somewhat heightened even though the paralysis is there. The sensation or awareness of it is acute. I assume this is only because I am narrowing my focus.
When I am in this state, I try to will the movement of my limbs. At this point the sensations in whatever limb I am attempting to move take on an icy feeling, though I am not cold. It intensifies the harder I will it to move. I usually end up falling asleep right around this point, though I have been improving the length of time I have been able to stay consciously aware. Yesterday, I was able to maintain it for an hour and a half, but still without success of being able to get out of body. I kind of think I am just not taking it far enough or that I am focusing on the here and now too much. My barrier is related to my expectations and I am having a difficult time getting past that. I'm not going to give up though. This just sounds too freakin awesome to not want to do.
