just the other day on a ride back from a 2 day canoe trip i was basically doing the noticing exercise and i began seeing all kinds of faces and such.  its happened many times before but this time they were clearer.  like movies in gray scale.  i saw a guy fly fishing on a river, people playing volleyball and of course numerous faces that pop up and then fade away.  they were all very clear.  i am curious as to why i see this kind of imagery sometimes and other times i don't see anything.

the other night my 11 year old woke up from night mares and needed me to lay with her in bed, well as soon as i lay there i fell asleep.  i had a whacked out paranoid dream of waking up and seeing a woman standing in the doorway, i jumped up grabbed her and held her down. (now i am thinking she has broken in the house with plans to do harm.)  anyway i held her down and called 911, all the while she stared blankly at me.  the 911 guy began asking me these far out questions that made me realize i was dreaming, now this is where it gets interesting.

so i wake up, get out of bed and go back to my own, when i lay back down on my bed i heard a voice, i jumped up and there were two faces peeking around the corner of my doorway.  i sprang out of bed and went after them, as i was running i thought, "hey, i may be dreaming, i am going to see if i can go through the kitchen door" , well i simply ran into it.

i then preceded to search the house, but again when i went to open a door (to the bathroom) i couldn't, but after a few seconds it opened on its own, and my youngest daughter was standing there all sleepy eyed.  i said hi to her and she went off back to bed.  i then woke up and i was still in my 11 year olds bed.

just thought i would share this experience, i am thinking that by being in a different bed help induce this experience, but i am curious as to why i couldn't go through the door.   but i made a mental note to look at my hands or try to blink next time so as not to ruin another experience- especially since i have been working on achieving AP or phasing for months!

mactombs,
sounds like you are on the threshhold, like all you have to do now is phase into that scene - this is from what i have read.  if you dont mind, could you keep us informed with your progress, its always informative and encouraging hearing success stories and how they were achieved.  thanks and good luck

thank you all for your replies!
frank, i have read your posts on phasing in the past, but your explanation on this thread has answered many of my questions.  i know i have read here somewhere in the past that you were working on a book, i look forward to it.   i do have another question, it has to do with intent.  i have read here that you need to have intent to phase, how important is this?  and is just wanting to experience phasing enough intent?
red Catherine, thank you for your reply, i do not get discouraged easy :). i will continue plugging away.

thanks for the reply, i hear you about making it pretty much your lifestyle, if my boss were to find out the amount of time i try and meditate down here in my office he would not be too pleased!  even though i have not been able to achieve either state from meditating yet, i have noticed improvement - my focus is getting better and better.   when it comes to phasing, is energy work important?

hello all
i have been trying to accomplish any kind of out of body/phasing experience, with no success.  anyway the question i have is for the people who achieve either one of these, how long on the average do you have to meditate before you achieve the the focus level you need?  for the more experienced travelers (frank, major tom, etc), what is your success rate of having these experiences, IE 1 out of every 5 attempts?
also, i must thank you all for all the great variety of info that you provide.

Welcome to Astral Consciousness! / update

well, i just gave it a shot.  it was quite a hard time trying to relax my mind, i mean out of nowhere my mind went on these tangents.  but after a while i got this wicked rush, and then i couldn't really feel my arms-legs.  i mean i could feel them but it was like they were faded.  anyway, after this my mind went crazy with what to do, should i try to AP, should i do some visualization, should i get back to work.  anyway the sensation faded a bit and i decided to get back to work.  it was quite fun.  even though my mind was not completely quiet think it may have been quiet enough.  i am very curious as to what will happen when i can control the excitement and i go deeper.  i guess the whole deal with me was i was trying to put my body to sleep yet keep my mind awake, after this experience it seems as this really isn't the case.  i really have no idea how to explain this though.  i look forward to giving it another try tonight.

thanks astral, it was actually a post i read of yours that got me to ask this, you mentioned you were making good head way with your meditating - to the point where you felt you could phase. i have been doing everything form counting breaths to imagining climbing down a ladder-stairs, most of the time doing one after another.  i am going to give this a try right now (hopefully my boss will leave me alone for a half hour or so).  thanks again for taking the time.

Hi all!   i have read countless techniques on how to AP, each one telling you after you have reach a trance state do this.....  anyway, i guess i could search the web and find different ways but i have found many of the people here are able to explain themselves in very good detail and in layman's terms, also there seems to be alto of experience within this forum.  so anyway, my goal is to find a way well suited to myself for achieving the focus 10 state that i have been reading about on this site.  any suggestions would be very much appreciated!  Thanks in advance.  on a side note,  a month or so ago i was able to reach a state where i would experience a state where i would feel like i was wobbling on a regular basis, i seemed to be pretty deep in trance, however , lately i haven't been able to get back to this state.  i think its cause somehow i have totally messed up my ability to meditate.

thanks for the reply, most of the time i lay on my back without any pillows under my head, i have tried it  leaning back in a chair (at work, but don't tell anyone!)  but sitting doesn't give the same results.  so if i just remain at peace and listen then the split should happen on its own?  when you split this way where do you find yourself in relation to your body (in the same room, above, beside etc)?  thanks again!!

hi all,
one night a couple months ago i woke up in a state of intense vibrations, i instinctively rolled out of my body. since i have been trying to do this again. i have been reading article after article, tip after tip and think i am about there. yesterday gave it another shot using some chakra meditation and then some trance counting(i am very new to the whole meditation and chakra thing). anyway i got pretty deep, drifting in and out of dreams until the vibrations started, i am not talking about little tingly feelings but the real deal(i should note that the vibes were not as intense as the night i woke up with them though) so i tried to remain calm, concentrated on my breathing, and began to try and focus on visualizing a door in the room or the light on the ceiling, then after a little while the vibrations subsided.  it seems i have been able to reach the vibrations almost every time i try, but that is as far as i get.  every time i am so sure that the split is about to happen.  anyway, my question is this, am i missing a piece of the puzzle?  is there something i need to do or not do to induce the split.  for example, once the vibes start should i focus on the ceiling, the rope technique etc.?  or could it be related to not having enough energy built up?  and lastly, i have been visiting this forum for about a month now and i want to thank y'all for taking the time to help anyone who asks and by providing so much info in an unbiased way.  take care.
