I know what you mean and you're right, for sure.
It's something I tried to figure out some time ago, already, for myself, after diving into manifestation, Law of Attraction, Shifting etc.

I don't fear the Darkness, nor demons or anything similar (I already had some contact to these entities during my ritual work and don't believe in the common conditioning of ,,good" angels and "evil" demons).
I am also no negative person.
So, the only thing that comes into my mind is what you mentioned yourself: limiting believes.

Well, after a long period of affirmations and mental work in regards to Neville Goddard, Joseph Murphy and others I still haven't achieved to - truly - believe in myself, so this might indeed be the main reason.

Thanks for that reminder, I have to work more on that aspect again.

LightBeam, thanks for your kind response!

Yes, I tried literally each and every technique during the past 10 years (following a pretty strict 3-months-per-technique rule, especially during the past few years).

I had, in fact, one short AP-success some years ago (while chanting the mantra FARAON before sleep in the evening, where I suddenly flew out of the body and instantly woke up. This never happened again since, though)

But, it's not so much about techniques and such why I asked, I follow the western (occult) path nowadays and feel that I'm on a good way, so to say.
Dreams in which I speak about AP and lucid dreams are more common in the meanwhile, so I stay patient and confident.

It's rather the fact THAT I speak about these topics in my dreams, without getting lucid, which amazes me so much.

I really wonder about my subconscious and am curious if someone else experienced the same.
Perhaps before finally achieving an AP, as some sort of presage.

PS: your idea to ask for insights, during meditation, is a good one, unfortunately I am ,,non-sensitive" to such intuitions / inspirations.
I tried it many times - before sleep, during meditations - but if I receive(d) answers, I simply don't recognize(d) them.
No chance for me to tell the difference between ,,external" message and random thoughts of myself.

Hello,

this one confuses me: I (still) try to achieve an astral projection since many years, the only thing I managed to experience though are lucid dreams.
(I believe that these are also genuine out-of-body-experiences, so I don't want to lessen their value by any means - I just also want to experience something more in the line of ,,floating out of the body" ^^)

So, after more than a dozen lucid dreams it suddenly stopped again, and since several months nothing more happens.

But: in my dreams I frequently talk about lucid dreams and astral projection with dream characters, why I want to achieve it and that it doesn't work yet.

Why don't I achieve (any more) lucid dreams and no AP at all, despite all the related work and meditation and stuff, but ,,talk" about it?
If I talk about it, my subconscious seems to understand very well what I want, yet it just let me ,,talk" about it in my dreams?

Any ideas?

Hope that helps in some part.

Hello and thank you very much for your insights and detailed post!
It's quit interesting to read about your way and experiences.

Regarding me...to be honest, it doesn't really help that much, no.
My ,,issue" is that I try to experience an OBE since almost 9 years now, without success.
At least concerning an ,,exit" from my body.
I had several lucid dreams already, all just within the past 2 years. They don't last long and they don't get completely stable, but I remember to have been lucid to some degree and that I could choose what to do.

In my last one (they all happen spontaneous each and every 3-8 weeks) I wanted to enter the Park (Focus 27) and nothing happened at all.
So I feel ,,not welcome" on the other side.

Perhaps that's the reason I don't achieve any AP / OBEs?
Don't know.
So, regarding Gateway, I just don't get the exercises as / if nothing happens.
No experience of being more than my physical body, no signs that I make progress.
Thus, I don't know if I should repeat the early excercises again and again, or if I should continue to the higher waves, or if I should simply stop listening to them (which I did many times already, of course)

Quote from: Lumaza on September 10, 2023, 13:47:28Seeker. to find success in the practice I find you need to be a silent "Observer" first. Do not question what you see. You could have internal dialogue, but there are things that are counterproductive. One of the worst I find is that when things are beginning to occur and the stage is set, you all of a sudden have the thought "here we go" and because of that, you go nowhere, and the session is done. I got caught up in this countless times. It was that little burst of excitement that killed the experience. Recognizing where you went wrong is crucial.

Yes, and your answer makes even more sense now, for me, after reading your older post you gave in the other thread.
I now understand the importance of mental silence (thus NOT to practice self-talk).

No more questions, you helped me tremendously

This is even more helpful for me, thanks!
Wonderful post you wrote there 👍

Quote from: Lumaza on September 10, 2023, 11:40:19Do not, for any reason, turn your focus back to what your physical body is doing. This will immediately kill any success you have made. That is a hard thing not to do, but is necessary if you wish to maintain a NPR (non-physical reality) focus. This won't always be the case though. After a while, you will find that you can maintain a "dual" focus. For now, you have to work on holding a focus, period.

Would you say that self-talk is okay or rather such a focus to the physical reality?
I'm not good in visualization, I can't see a scene for a longer time before it gets really straining.
What works, though, is to just watch and talk about what I actually see in the darkness.

Though...this is something I already did in the past, and nothing ever happened.
Perhaps I should have continued instead of giving up after an hour?
Or is self-talk too much focus and emphasis on my physical body / reality?

Quote from: Lumaza on September 10, 2023, 11:40:19I see what is in front of me as moving into a cave, hallway or tunnel. Many times, as I am moving deeper into the darkness there, I start to see imagery on the walls of that cave, tunnel or hallway. At that point I can lock onto that imagery, passively observe it and see where it leads to or I can just ignore it, until a more vivid object or scene appears. Either way, it will lead to something new to explore.

Thank you very much, this is a helpful advice, the tunnel-allegory is priceless.

Quote from: Xanth on September 10, 2023, 08:45:12Your body won't be asleep in focus 10.

Focus 10 is more akin to the kind of focus you get when you get REALLY into a good book or a good movie.
I'd suggest that you have 90% of your awareness still physically and 10% non-physical.

Focus 12 is more of an expanded relaxed state where the void comes into play a bit more.  You'll start to get a sense of depth and 3d-ness to your field of view.  At that point, the physical/non-physical split is more like 60%/40%.  You're getting more into the non-physical, and you can still feel your body "back there", but that sense isn't gone completely.  :)

Alright, thanks for the clarification!
So the whole gateway is simply a ,,roadmap" from full wakefulness to the void, and you learn gradually to achieve deeper and deeper states.

I still wonder, though, what you can or should ,,expect" to experience in order to know that you are ,,ready" for a certain focus level.

For example Focus 12, I manage to feel like floating in the sky, but nothing ,,happens".
So, am I ready to continue with the next excercises and waves of gateway?
Or shall I stay with Focus 10 / 12 until I experience something ,,spiritual", something, that ,,proofs" me that I am more than that physical body?

Alright, thanks, Xanth!
The thing with the WBTB sounds legit, yes, this is how I came to understand it, too.
Just wake up, remember your intent and sleep.

With the gateway-tapes, well, of course I don't just listen passively.
I try to feel and imagine what the voice told me.
For example with Focus 12 I always imagine to fly in a vast, blue sky, while in Focus 10 I just am in complete Darkness.
I really try to BE in that darkness (or the sky).
Same with the other exercises, I visualize and imagine all that is described or asked, but this doesn't create any sensations/experiences which show me that I make any progress.
For example my body doesn't really sleep in focus 10, I'm just very relaxed.

Quote from: Xanth on September 09, 2023, 19:17:39Maybe that's what you're doing wrong.  You don't make them morph, you're just watching and investigating with your awareness.  Just investigate, with a sense of curiosity.

Thanks for the advice!
Yes, I already read this in your primer, but after several months of trying it this way I switched to be more active.
Even if I lay there for an hour or in the middle of the night (thanks to insomnia which I get as soon as I lay there with the hope of experiencing something), I see some small streaks or a little bright star, and nothing happens.
I tried to just wait and observe if they change, but they just wander slooowly from one side to the other and disappear.

I still don't get the Gateway-Tapes, how long you should listen to them and when to proceed to the next tape.

I own the whole series since 3 years now and listend countless times to them, especially the first wave and especially the last excercise (Focus 10).
Never I felt anything special, no floating, no change in my dreams at night, no sense of being ,,elsewhere".
I just hear the sound and am very relaxed, and after 30 minutes it's over and I stand up.

Should one listen to them during a WBTB, again and again?
(I listend to some binaural beats and guided meditations already with WBTBs, but this only created insomnia each time, so I gave up to do it)

Quote from: Lumaza on August 04, 2023, 11:27:36To me, Phasing is the result of a deeper form of meditation. In the meditation techniques I have read on, they always say it is important to "clear your mind". In Phasing, at least for me. I utilize a "monkey mind" to my advantage (as seen in my Doorway technique). They both start out the same. Relaxation and "calming the mind". When visuals begin to appear, that is when I focus on them and only them and allow them to morph, which they do, into whatever form or scenario they wish to. I stay consciously focused on that and only that. At that point, my physical body is non-existent. It gets even deeper when "mental motion"/etheric motion is added into the mix!  8-)

That's a great and helpful explanation, thank you!
I still try to achieve a success, but unfortunately I can't make the visuals coming to morph.
Whatever I try, however long I lay there and meditate, when I randomly see some lights and foggy clouds, the just drift away and don't care about my intention to morph them into something.
Same if I just ignore them.
Because of this I never saw dreamlike scenes which are often described in books when it comes to the famous ,,hypnagogic state".
It's just some vague, small streaks that come and go and nothing more happens.

I fully understand what you are saying, but in fact I struggle for years with all that OBE-stuff.
I managed to experience some random lucid dreams, but I absolutely can't experience an conscious ,,exit" / Astral Projection / Phasing into other dimensions / WILD.
I meditate since years and have (mostly) a good dream recall, but the door for willingly OBE-experiences is firmly closed.
Thus I finally gave up and let it be.
But, again, what you say is right and well explained. 👍

Thank you for your insights!

Greetings,

I know that Phasing IS a form of meditation, so it's another point I want to ask about.

In one of Xanths blogs he wrote that the difference between phasing and a ,,classical" OBE would be the break (at Focus 12, real-time-zone, so to say) and the performance of an exit technique - while phasing would be the undisrupted continuation of the meditation until you reach Focus 21 and phase (automatically) into a higher dimension.

Therefore, if you mediate and get into some trance (and forget about your body etc.), then you should automatically reach Focus 21, sooner or later, right?
But this would mean that each proper meditation leads to an OBE. Which isn't the case, obviously.

So, my question is: in order to experience an OBE while meditating, how do you establish the intent?
Is it a firm intention at the beginning of the meditation, or do you ,,think" about that intention permanently, while noticing / visualizing / whatever tool you use?
Or is it the experience of that ,,void" (which I not did yet) that represents Focus 21 and you just know that you can start now with your OBE, if you wish?
