Welcome to Metaphysics! / Possible guide encounter?
January 06, 2005, 10:06:04
I am not sure which guide. I don't know a whole ton about the different guides, but I suspect he was a helper/teacher of some kind.

I poked my toes with my fingers before meditating last night and I definitely went into a deeper meditation than normal. The blackness behind my eyelids was way more 3-d than normal. Also, after I broke my meditation to swallow (I hate that) I was completely back to the physical, feeling wide awake. That never happens to me.

Still waiting for the sidewalk chalk to show up!

PS The images of Merlin when I saw him were very dark and hazy. Just clear enough for me to know exactly who he was supposed to look like. But the memories are very sharp and clear, and they appeared very sharp and clear immediately after every word he spoke. It was a really strange contrast.

Welcome to Metaphysics! / Possible guide encounter?
January 05, 2005, 09:45:45
Ok, so as a break from my normal meditation/attempt to AP routine, I thought I would try and meet a guide. So I meditate for a while and decide to go through this "visualization" exercise. This is how it went....

I started sitting in a favorite spot in the woods, and imagined a glowing light in the distance moving towards me. When it got close, I noticed it looked like a fantasy wizard. When he got up to me I realized it didn't look like just any wizard, but Gandalf from LoTR. I introduced myself and asked his name. He said to me," Well since you decided to see me in this form, you can call me Merlin".  Anyway, I asked a couple of questions, and then asked if it would be possible for me to get validation that he was a guide in the next 4 days. He said ,"sure, look for sidewalk chalk", and I immediately had a picture in my head of what it would look like. I asked if he could help with my AP-ing and he said," if you would like my help, next time poke your toes before meditation".  I reply,"Poke how? Like with a needle or something?" He says," No,no. Don't draw blood or cause pain, it's just something you wouldn't normally do that I will know to watch for". I thanked him and he went off.

Now I remember thinking during this that I was not "seeing" real clearly, but after every word he spoke, I had a VERY vivid memory of what he looked like saying it.

I am looking forward to seeing the validation if it comes. But I am curious, do people working with guides often see/create a form of something they are comfortable with, rather than see a true, unique form?

PS LoTR is my favorite movie and "The Once and Future King" is my fav book, which is why I think I may have created the Gandalf/Merlin form for my guide.

If it is fair to say that we were non-physical before we decided to create the physical world to play The Game, then have the likes of "us" (those members on this Forum who have achieved/are attempting to achieve non-physical experiences) got the wrong end of the stick?

I mean, shouldn't we, who have chosen to experience physical reality, be revelling in the physical side of it, and not spending all our spare time trying to experience non-physical reality?

Will we be the ones who are 'sent to Coventry' because we didn't follow the rules of The Game?  Will we turn out to be the culprits and those who live a total physical life (if you know what I mean) be the ones who condemn us?

Hmmmm.  Interesting posts.

Sarah

Isn't it more likely that we will achieve more clarity in our physical lifes purpose by connecting to our non-physical self. It seems that we could gain insight into our "lifes lesson" if we visit our more true self on occasion.

Also, I am not attempting to experience the meta-physical realms out of some desire to play with ghosts. There is a desire and drive that I do not know where it comes from. I believe that experiencing the Astral from the perception of a physical being has something to do with my rules for the game. If it wasn't, wouldn't I have made the rules different, so that I COULDN'T experience these things?

There is a place where 31 south turns into either westnedge or west main ( I can't remember which). There is a small store next to a photography store called "The Thieves Market". It is a costume/ antique clothing store that carries a large selection of occult/new age/Wiccan stuff. The ladies that worked there the last time are very helpful and understanding.

If the Thieves Market doesn't have what you are looking for, there is a place in Allegan that I go to called Blackwoods. She only has polished crystals for the most part, but her prices are extremely good, and she has some serious psychic skills :) Just take M-89 towards Allegan(Otsego exit), off 31S. Stay on M89 until you pass McDonald's in Allegan (15 minutes or so). The next light you come to hang a right and it will be a block up on the right.

Also, don't forget Barnes and Nobles. They have the best book selection, and they usually have books on working with crystals that come with crystals.

I do find it kinda funny that in a land based heavily on the idea of religious freedom that there is in fact one particular idea of religion that is forced upon us at a very early age.  Anybody who says that is not is already a member of the God umbrella.  This starts with the pledge of allegiance.  "One nation, under God.."  Being outside the US probably makes this easier to see.

While I agree with the idea that America is heavily Christian biased, although I disagree with the "under God" argument. God is an English word, in an English speaking country, that encompasses a whole lot of meanings. Some refer to their higher self as God, some a supreme being. There are so many interpretations that it is largely a blanket statement.

The only person it should offend is the true, hardcore atheist. The person that believes there is no metaphysical/spiritual realm and thinks we are born, work then die.

I, for one, am thankful that the word God appears in so many of our governments workings. It at least opens the door for discussion, and may instill an interest in our children to seek beyond the physical realm.

No, as for the negative, one religion does dominate the scene in America. Many people are ignorant about other religions and create negative stereotypes as a result. Most Christian churches don't want to emphasize the positive of other religions. They only want their congregation to be able to refute other religions, and hopefully convert others to Christianity. I often make my close friend, and Christian minister laugh when I tell him," Buddhists are the best Christians". It is the fault of the institution and not of the teachings that the church is this way.

But make no mistake, we have religious freedom. We may choose any path we want. We are free to practice as we see fit. If we choose to not fall into the habits of a Lemming, we are free to discover all that there is.  We don't have to worry about being thrown in jail or worse for simply attempting to explore other religions.

I for one believe in the Life School way of thinking. Maybe all these peoples higher selves chose to reincarnate as Christians to experience that way of life for one reason or another. Maybe the religion has some insight that they need to learn.

The Life School method also helps me to see no one person/thing/action as negative, and has really helped me relieve stress, and learn to relax and meditate. Everything that happens might very well be some part of a life lesson, and if we look hard, maybe we can find it. And if we find it, it might resolve the issue for us personally as to whether there is or isn't a higher being.

QuoteDo you have any suggestions on what kind of crystal I would get? What does the size difference of a crystal do particularly? flow more vibration to the body?

The types of crystal depends on what you are using it for. Clear quartz appears to be universal and can be used in place of almost anything. Many people doing energy work get a crystal that corresponds in color to their primary chakra's.

I have talked with a few healers that prefer hematite for that purpose.
My wife and I were having some serious problems and I started carrying an amethyst (the only crystal I found to help a man's love life) and that same day we had one of the best conversations that may well have saved our marriage :)

Most places say to get an unpolished version of whatever crystal you get. Make sure to look up information on cleansing and programing crystals. A lot of cleaning I think is just focusing intent, but it seems to make a big difference for me.

I work in a field where I deal with crystal oscillation on a daily basis. Even the smallest measurable voltages will cause a crystal to oscillate. When a crystal oscillates(vibrates), it does so at a specific frequency. Some crystals vibrate faster or slower depending on the voltages, some stay constant but increase in amplitude. I think what I am finding using crystals is that my own bodies voltages oscillate the crystal and modulate(create a second frequency) the energy. The modulated energy of a crystal is a frequency conducive to certain aspects of work (ie healing, meditation, energy work).

For maybe a more clear idea of oscillation/modulation heres an example. Your cable television channel 58 comes in somewhere around 450MHz. If you run it through a VCR, the 450MHz is applied to a crystal causing it to oscillate. The vibrations are an exact replica of the original signal, only at a lower frequency. Usually a VCR modulates all signals to channel 3  (50 something MHz).

Hopefully that makes sense.

PS- Big wave from Allegan to Kalamazoo :)  I'm just a few miles north of ya :)[/quote]

Just my 2cents incoming-

I was raised Christian. I was raised in a denomination that chose that all miraculous events had ceased and we were to live on faith alone(not true of all denominations). Later, I was introduced to the Pentecostal denomination. They believe and even expect the miraculous to occur daily. From healings and Shikina(sp?) to speaking and understanding unknown languages. When I approached my parents about these things, my mother said," I used to pray in tongues all the time, and your father has a true gift for prophecy!". I was completely floored.

At this point we began to discuss all manner of things, but most importantly world religions. My mothers explanation was one that has stuck in the back of my head since then, and I am now finding it easier to admit to myself.

There is a higher power, and that power may be found in all the religions of the world. If that power has a consciousness separate from humanity, then it would need to present it's prophets in different ways to different cultures. If it is a common consciousness which we all stem from, different prophets may have reached "enlightenment" through different ways.

I think this falls right in line with the current discussion. Many paths lead to a deep sense of spirituality. Remaining open is the key. Some "religions" may offer something you need today, and some may offer something you need tomorrow.

Another important aspect IMO is that almost all major religions and many minor ones have such similar belief structures. Whether they call energy Chakra or Holy Spirit or Chi, they are all most likely the same thing. Whether you call it Visions or Projecting, or you see guardian angels or guides. The metaphysical correlations all seem to be very similar, although achieved by different paths, and with the intent being somewhat different.

I now believe very strongly in the notion of Earth School. Something higher that my physical self has placed my consciousness here for the purpose of learning and experiencing something. As I go through the day, I am on look out for lessons. I am looking for experiences that I may need to grow further. But ultimately, I am connected to the higher power, and that gives me great strength and alot of control over my life.

Welcome to Energy Body and The Chakras / Bacteria
December 17, 2004, 15:45:51
I was watching the Discovery Science channel the other night and an interesting bit on Quantum Physics came up, which led to my mind thinking along these lines.

There are bacteria (or were, I can't remember exactly) which were able to take in hydrogen, and depending on their environment, create any number of other substances. I believe they said Carbon as one of the elements produced.

This is relevant to both this discussion and quantum physics because of the ability for a single celled organism to change the atomic structure of a substance. Being able to add or subtract electrons would make for endless possibilities for the production of elements. And if they could alter atoms, then it would not be to far of a stretch to assume that a bacteria could also combine atoms to create and number of things which the body needs to survive.

Just speculation and theorizing, but I believe a time will come when all things "spiritual" will be proven with science.

Welcome to Spiritual Evolution! / Ego
December 17, 2004, 12:44:47
Resonates alot of how I feel lately.

I actually think the Buddhist view of destroying the ego loses interpretation between cultures. I like to think of the ego as kind of spiritual meter. As I recognize more and more of who I am and what lessons I am needing to learn, the ego seems to become less. I feel more in touch with the energies/spiritual forces/ collective consciousness. The ego is the place where I feel all negative emotions rise from, and so as I learn more, the negative emotions are unlearned. I am sure that in the same way, positive emotions could be unlearned, but I haven't found a good reason to do that :)

I do kind of agree, although I had never thought about it before, that if you were to completely lose the ego, something would have to happen. A total removal of self would have to involve some sort of end to the attachment of the physical body it would seem.

Good read. Thanks.

Quote from: GandalfI get you, so the 'bog standard model' for a 'minor system' is one populated planet per universe...
the only thing is, that seems like a lot of wasted space, ie we are one speck in this big physical universe, the huge size of it seems a bit of overkill if its just one populated planet in each..

The funny thing is, while I find it very easy to concede to the idea of overkill, in the context of the post as I understand it, there are infinite numbers of systems, hence, infinite amounts of space. Not only that, but if we create our own reality, it could be safe to assume that as "scientists" created "scientific breakthroughs", they also help to create the vast expanses of space.

The question I wonder is, if we create our own reality, and others belief constructs help to form our reality, will it ever be possible to completely experience true  pure consciousness.  Isn't even the notion of having constructs a construct?  So, in order to experience true consciousness, you would have to give up all constructs, including the belief that there is such a thing as constructs. Which would mean you would have to quit believing in constructs. This in turn would lead to not working towards giving up constructs. I hope that doesn't look like rambling, but it seems like a hopeless catch 22. We who reside primarily in your focus 1 seem to be inherently doomed to never fully experience true self.

I have only had one intentional projection so maybe I am missing some of the insight that comes from experiencing "focus 4". I am interested in hearing your replies :)

However, I think the idea that we are in fact so much bacteria is astonishing. It actually makes me think about another thread on breatharians. While it seems like a long stretch to assume that the human body could change it's daily functions over a year or 2 to not need food, it seems like a lot less of a stretch to think that a bacteria's by-products could be altered. And through that alteration the bacteria could create a by-product to sustain human life.
Breatharianism is biologically impossible(I don't say it's impossible at all..). Every living organism needs energy to live. From where would bacteria take energy to sustain human life?

Sunlight and osmosis through the elements in the air. I am still not sure I buy it either, but the idea of a bacteria using water and sunlight to produce proteins and minerals to support life, seems like less of a stretch than the simple," I can live on water" theory.

I apologize for the assumption it was your site. You mentioned it was similar to your beliefs and I jumped to conclusions.

I wil have to reread revelations, specificly the parts dealing with mark's. I haven't spent much time in it lately, and with all the new information about kundalini and many other things, it may shed alot of light on it that I was previously blind to.

I  apologize again for the assumption.

Welcome to Psychic and Paranormal! / Depression
December 16, 2004, 16:12:35
My take as a depression sufferer-

Depression is a catch 22 state. You feel down, so you dwell on it, which brings you lower, so you dwell some more.....etc. The purpose of modern medication is to take the edge of and provide clarity so you can see that you need to battle.

Most psychologist now subscribe to the cognitive behavioral therapy approach. In order to be successful at beating depression(and a slew of psychological disorders) a person needs to recognize their thought process and then learn to adjust it. I personally had a negative filter and a black and white filter. I had learned through years of conditioning that certain things were bad, and so any inkling of similarity to the event would trigger anxiety and depression. The black and white mentality made it so everything was win or lose. As an example, I was upset at my marriage for not being perfect(I wasn't winning). The thought that came with it was I was losing.

Upon seeing the reality of my thought processes, I was able to realize that negative emotions are actually a bored "fight or flight" response. We rarely have to run from a vicious animal, so we get scared/angry/defensive over mental stimuli.  As I began to change my thought process, the depression began to lift, quit quickly actually.

Now, I believe a NEG could in fact have influence over someone in the "catch 22" state. I also think energy depletion, and imbalance could add some serious amplification of the depression. However, I believe that depression, as with all emotions, are conscious based, and not the result of some planar intrusion.

PS While many people subscribe to the chemical imbalance theory, I tend to believe that diet awareness would solve alot of these issues, versus taking pills. People with Serotonin level issues, actually don't have issues with the levels of the chemical, but have issues with the ability of the neuro transmitters passing the serotonin.

PSS- I am not a doctor, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night. I actually have read tons of material on depression and only know what worked for me.

I think in the context it is used it is misleading.  If we were "10% not human", I would assume it related to mass.

Moving energy around from different directions seemed to be productive last night. I had a few deep rooted issues come to light and then I began to feel the energy ever so lightly around my heart chakra. I also had a very strong feeling that there is much more to be addressed, but that I was doing the right thing.

I appreciate your replies. I went from getting frustrated to having confidence thanks to your input :)

Pod_3-

First, I have had no Kundalic experience whatsoever.

I read your website about the catholic church. Most people (especially on this site I think) would agree that all organized religion is full of misinformation and false interpretation. Catholicism seems to be plagued more-so than any other Christian denomination I can think of.

I wonder, however, what motivated you to devote an entire website to the subject. While having several major flaws in my opinion (Virgin Mary worship, praying to saints, confession of sins to a priest, I could go on), the Catholic church is one of the few Christian denominations that believes in the miraculous, and encourages it. Many of the works done by the Catholic church are of true benefit to the world.  I unfortunately lose a great deal of respect for anyone who feels it necessary to point out the way in which others are wrong spiritually, outside of an appropriate discussion.

I only bring this up because this was a great thread ,that unfortunately for me, ended in disappointment. Please don't take this the wrong way, I mean no disrespect.

And a note to Leo- keep up the great posts. I find your insight into spiritual things make a lot of sense to me. You describe normally complex things in a way which I am able to easily grasp. Your knowledge has helped me remove many of the veils of mysticism and be able to view things in a light I am able to apply to my life. Plus I like your history lessons :)

I have been working on meditation and energy work for some time now. Originally I started with the intention of AP or OBE, and that I think was looking for an escape from the stresses of a rocky marriage. Soon after, I began to realize that I need not escape my stresses, but need to evaluate the reality of them, and understand how I think about things.  Understanding that suffering in all its forms is a "phenomenon" that is created by me and not a true, tangible entity, helped move me in the right direction.

I tend not to be sensitive to my physbod. My energy work is at the point where I can feel my base and second(lower navel) chakra in very significant ways. Last night while doing my energy work, I began to notice several areas of my body that seemed to not allow energy movements through. I have felt strongly that my heart chakra had a blockage leading to it, and I have been almost completely unable to feel any subtle energy in the area of my heart. When moving energy around my chakra's, I can move energy up my legs and into my solar plexus, but can't seem to move it into my chest. When I move energy around in my upper body, I can feel movements from my head to my fingers, but if I try and move it into my heart from above, my neck becomes constricted to a point that is almost painful.

I have as yet been unable to find a teacher in my area, and so have to resort to self realization and reading on my own. I am curious if there are exercises or anything else I could do to work on/realize the cause of these "blockages".

Seems common response is to "just keep imagining them working and they eventually will".  But my current attitude is that something karmic is involved, and I need to recognize some lesson or attitude that is causing my energy body to progress.

Any help or comments are greatly appreciated

The problem with the colorful Sun Sign-one size fits all- types of readings is this- If planetary position has some influence on our life, wouldn't all planets have some influence?

A true Astrological reading can be very enlightening. 10 planets total, not just the sun, may influence your character. And the exact position of certain planets at the exact moment of your birth can have influence.

I am currently doing some experimentation with casting charts. I am having people write down how they see themselves in certain areas of life, and how they think others see themselves in those same areas. Then I am building a chart and comparing with the list.

I decided to do this after casting my own chart and feeling it showed me some true insight into my personality.

As to whether it is possible to predict the future, I am still undecided. To many variables that until recently have been unaccounted for(IE earth wobble).

Used as  a tool to understanding yourself, it proves to be very valuable IMO.

Also, if you are truly interested, find out what your ascending sign is. Many people believe it has as much influence on your life as your sun sign( I am leaning towards agreeing).

Welcome to Astral Chat! / extremely unusual pics
December 06, 2004, 12:36:52
I would be interested in seeing pictures taken from other angles other than on the stairs. The candle one I tend to think is a camera issue. The others could be some sort of lighting anomaly from the same position at the top of the stairs(as they appear). If you could recreate results from say the fireplace area or couch, you would have an excellent case for paranormal activity.

I'm not a skeptic, I just like to be analytical in my thinking. The photo's are very thought provoking for sure.

Just dropping in to say hiyas. I have been trolling daily for a couple months, and figured it was time to register :)

30 year old male. I have been working on relaxation and meditation for about 2 months. During my studies of meditation techniques, I became aware of OBE's and started studying() them.

I believe I used to have them often when I was younger. I can remember going from a lucid dream to floating in my room on purpose.

In the last month, I have had one AP, albeit a weak one. Due to situations in real life right now, I am just working on entering trance and maintaining it.

This is the most comprehensive site related to metaphysical advancement and I look forward to interacting with he community here.
