I know two people who have serious headache/migraine problems. I asked if they had ever had obe's and they both replied yes. One said that they happened two ways. During her blackouts and when she's lying down with a cold damp cloth on her face.

My guess, especially when she's just lying still waiting for the pain to go away, is that she enters a trance and the migraine is enough to disorient her and trigger the exit.

I am curious if anyone else has had experiences with migraines causing obe's, and more importantly any advice. It would be nice if they were able to embrace the obe side-effect as a gift and figure out how to stop the pain.

Both of these friends are women, which apparently have much more complex bodies than us men... and I believe that the migraine and perhaps some other related illnesses run in their family. One of them has also been diagnoised with fibromyalgia and I'm half suspecting a partial kundalini awakening.

I'm very interested in any comments, experiences, or advice anyone is willing to give.

I was really into trying for obe about a year and a half ago when I first started meditating, but took a break, and now I'm trying to get back into it again. This place is great motivation and helps me to stay focused. Anyway, I was able to "go deep" in my meditation. The loud rushing noises and intense tingling occured... but I could not throw myself into them to allow myself to go further. Oh, and I had my third lucid dream last night. I always thought affirmations really wouldn't do that much, but mixing them with the reality checks and such really does a lot of help. I'm gonna go attempt again soon! See ya!

Hi all!

I've been trying to obe for about a year now (I'm satisfied with small slow steps ;) ) but I've always remembered my dreams. For the past few months it's fairly normal for me to remember parts of 3 or 4 dreams every night.

I had always wanted to go lucid, but whenever I become aware of my dreaming in the past I half become aware of my body as well. The only thing I can do is relax my body and follow the dream uncontrolled... which still is pretty fun and interesting.

Well, two days ago I picked up "The Lucid Dreamer" at the library, and perhaps it just inspired me. Before bed I repeated to myself, "I will remember, and I will become aware" and well, I did!!

I was dreaming about a car accident and one of the cars was flying towards me. Just before it collided with me I become aware I was dreaming and everything slowed down. The car stopped and just floated in the air. I decided to test out my lucidity. I waved my hand and the car disappeared. I then looked around a bit, the colors of this street were very vivid and bright. Very unreal in a sense. But then I got overjoyed that it was working and I jumped and started flying up and up like I was a rocket. Everything blurred out then, I think because I thought about trying somehow to get to my body and obe. As I flew up the bright coloring of the surroundings faded out and grey cloud-like forms flew by... and then I basically woke up. It was great! I hope I can do this every night!!!

"Recognize your dreams and transform illusion into luminosity. Do not sleep like an animal. Do the practice which mixes sleep and reality"

Hello all,
I'm A student in college considering my options for majors and just would like to get some opinions of people, if I'm lucky, some professionals. I'm really interested in out of body experience, meditation, and hypnosis and the such and I'm curious what types of majors and perhaps what schools have a good rep for these things. I know it's not normal liberal arts college topic material, which is where I'm at... but still, I'm just keeping all doors and options open. Looking for suggestions, comments, opinions, anything that might give me insight. I personally was thinking some aspect of psychology and/or philosophy... any thoughts? Do share.

Hello,
I'm having trouble replying to posts. When I click on the "Reply" link it just sends me out back to home. This also happens if I click on a number of links. Almost like it's simply defaulting back to home. I can post new topics, but if someone were to respond, I cannot respond back to them directly. I would have to post a new topic. If anyone can help me out here it would be great. PS... don't expect me to reply back right away unless it's as another topic!!!! ;) Thanks.

Hello all,
I just have a simple question to ask. When I meditate, if I can allow myself to relax and begin to get into a state where I am at least partially sensitive to energy, my nose goes absolutely crazy itching! Four spots, two on the upper sides of my nose, and two just underneath my nose. I'm curious if this does have some sort of energy connection rather than being just an itch. It drives me crazy no matter how much I tell myself not to get distracted. I am curious if anyone knows what I might be able to do to relieve this sensation.

Hope to hear from you!

First of all let me say thank you for writing such a wonderful book.
I am really amazed by NEW. I was one of those people who jumped into this mystical world and went straight for the third eye and heart chakras, and only concentrated on those. As you might well expect I rarely felt anything untill I would just relax and slowly my feet would tingle and sometimes I would get energy sensations elsewhere. But I'm reading through your book and I'm in the middle of the NEW section and tactile imaging right now, so I spent most of yesterday doing minor energy path work. After five minutes of toe work I find my chest slightly vibrating and my head completely tingling. The chest vibrating makes me question if it's just my heart. Whenever I meditate I do feel like I can feel my heart pump in any place in my body, so it distracts me from knowing when real vibrations come. Of course these are only the gentle subtle vibrations, I rarely get the electrified version.
Also you mentioned the complete Kundalini Circuit. I am curious if you have any online information about kundalini, awakening and raising this type of energy as well. For, I look at obe as a step to fully awakening K within me, so any information you or anyone has I would simple love you all for.
I apologize for the rambling, I'm just a little excited and happy.

Thanks,
  Keith

Hello everyone. Reading all of this has been inspiring and has helped me gain motivation again to attempt to learn obe and astral travel techniques, but I'm curious if you all are still attempting to reach the island or not?

Curiously,

Hi Cel,
  I agree with Alex.

Just relax a little. :p

I think it would be harmful to use DMT however you use it as a drug. It's legal coming from the pineal gland... because it knows when you need it!!! I guess our subconscious knows how to use drugs right... perhaps we should leave it to them?

hey jc84corvette,

Thanks for describing that. Yeah, falling forward part would be a little freaky. Is that because of paralysis or just really relaxed.

Well sound cool! Have fun with it... I'm assuming you ap or obe regularly?

Or perhaps it's something altogether different and perhaps simpler. *shrugs* There is a saying we use in the theatre when it comes time to open the show.

It is what it is.

Well could you explain your beliefs? Perhaps explain it in a manner that doesn't seem so disjointed. For example, where is this war? what's usher 9 etc etc.

The main question I would have now is where do your beliefs stem from?

Happily Curious,

Chew your head off about what??? I just have no clue what you are talking about.

Hey jc84corvette,

Perhaps you just are able to relax very easily. For some it comes naturally, for others (like me) it is difficult to stay relaxed and focused.

As far as helping you to OBE energy raising is more effective in trance. All you need is enough energy and a way to trigger the projection and you're there. Relaxation I've heard is the trickiest part. You should read Robert Bruce's book Astral Dynamics. If not, at least his online treatise on astral projection. You can find it under the training portion of www.astralpulse.com . That should answer a lot of your questions.

Also, I'm curious if you'd describe some of the sensations you feel during these trances if you don't mind me asking.

Keep up the good work!

To Damballah: Oh, well I was just considering it, mostly because of the fibromyalgia and perhaps some of the kundalini energy might get stuck in the head if she wasn't aware of it (from a metaphysical point). Oh, and when I said women are more complicated, I was referring purely to the physical body, which I do believe is more complicated due to the complications with child birth. The energy body is probably just as intricate in man or woman.

To Steel Hawk: As far as kundalini goes though it is possible for it only to be partly aroused, and in rare cases to have been awakened spontaneously. Usually because of some sort of trauma. My friend was diagnosed with fibromyalgia after a knee injury which sounded pretty serious. But as far as I have read, kundalini is another form of energy. I imagine it could be present in varying amounts and degrees, not always just full blown awakening, which is the description of the snake rising. I mean, logic tells us it has to get from point A to point B. Anyway, the kundalini cause is probably most far fetched, just a thought.

Anyway, thanks for the suggestion about the Pineal Gland. I will defidently look into that.

Thanks for your comments and suggestions!

Yeah, I usually feel as if my hands aren't in the righ place, as a distraction, when I begin meditation. This past mediation I managed to get into a nice trance and the room was really spinning... I believe I either became tense or my mind started to wander (which it did start to dayream scenerios) and the spinning stopped. After it stopped it felt like my head was all turned to one side krinking my neck, although it hadn't moved at all. Just another sensation we have to try and focus past to me.

Good luck once again!

Hey Draege,
I haven't had a successful obe yet, but I'm trying. :) I think I have trouble because when I get all tingly I start to "feel" it in my body. Where, what I'm starting to think now, the real point is to "forget" your body. Just let it sleep and be. Forget it by concentraiting 100% however you are focusing whether it is breathing, energy raising, or exit techniques...
I find I reach trance when I forget the body. You said this worked for you too: "Towards the end I gave up on techniques or trying to imagine feelings and just thought I'd try and force my mind into a lower conciousness (i.e. near sleep). Wow did that work." You ignored your bodies sensations and just focused on concentrating your mind. Keep that up!!!
I think that's good that you just stayed there in the heavy vibrations. I guess you want to get used to that, like trance, so that when you reach that level you aren't excited and throw yourself out of it. But if you do want to get out, I believe that is the time you try to trigger the projection either by bouncing your mental focus to a point outside of your body, or by rope, imagining you are rolling out or some other technique. Again I'm not sure, because I haven't gotten out yet...
The one itme I did have heavy vibrations I got astral vision... did this happen to you? I also am having trouble relaxing when sensations start. Keep up the focus. Sounds like you're really close.

Would this be more of a topic for healing??? Anyone's opinion??

Hey Tom,
You are very right, there are people, teachers, who are aware of all this... as Monroe puts it... a member of the club.. I just need to find them. :)

Thanks!
I will defidently check out that book!

I have to think of a topic I'm interested in for my philosophical methods class... any suggestions?

Focus!!! :) That's all. Use it as an exercise to focus. Think about it, it is really hard work, but if you can get yourself to focus despite a distraction like that then you could meditate deep virtually anywhere you wished despite outside conditions. It is tough, but use it to your advantage, and see it as an aid, like lifting weights, to improve your focus. :) good luck!
