Thanks for the link MisterJingo. I'm reading through the slides now, I hope it starts to clear things up a little. Man, and I thought I had a good grasp on this theory after seeing The Elegant Universe! Well, we'll see.

Thanks again,

Thanks Dingo,

No one else can elaborate? It seems like their just saying they exist because we need them to exist... which is bleh.

Anyone?

Hello,

I understand that String Theory requires 10-11 dimensions, depending on the specific author of the theory. M-theory requires 11. My question is, why do we need the extra dimensions? All I've read is that they are needed to make the equations work, but no one goes into what they mean by that.

I think it is because we need extra "space" for the strings to travel through when they are not affecting our dimensions. So they could be in these spherical or curled up dimensions that co-exist within or outside our 4-dimensional space.

Can anyone elaborate on this at all? I'm confused but highly interested by string theory.

Thanks,

Welcome to Metaphysics! / 11:11

When I was younger I often wondered about this strange "coincidence" of learning about something then seeing it all over. It would happen with many things in my life.

My family came up with a word for it, "recaloe". It comes from the root word "recall" because you are recalling something from your memory, which is creating the effect of you seeing it often.

I think this explains why people who read this thread first will start to see the time "11:11" often.

At least it helped me put into words this strange experience of seeing something often after recently learning about it. Where you'd never noticed it before.

High, and welcome!

I'm sure you're going to have a ton of fun with your projecting endevors!! I've personally found a nice herbal session to be a great start to my APing!

Enjoy,

I've personally found repeating almost anything will help the transition and soothe the mind.

I repeat the word "thinking" whenever a thought comes into my head. Usually when I'm entering a trance like state, I can't even say the whole word before my mind is blank again.

Mantras are an excellent tool!

Yeah, I wasn't here more than a year ago... but, a year ago this place was more active. heh.

It'll pick up again. We just need time for the new people to get the hang of what they're into.

Like me, for example, I've just started to be able to project nearly on command. Now I'm starting to find the information I need in order to help others.

It'll happen.

Enjoy,

Sounds like you're having fun! Good job, continue to try each night, it'll come.

I was in your boots at one point as well, posting the same things, :). I'm no pro now, but I sure am having my share of fun. It only gets better with time and practice!

Enjoy,

This forum used to have much more activity. Now it's dead around here. I'm sure it will pick up again when the next wave of energy surges through the earth.

Don't ask me to elaborate on that... I couldn't if I wanted to.

I also do this. Lately, as I've been having greater success projecting, I've felt that these people that I'm speaking with might be other astral energies... however, it might just be me. hah.

So I'm at a confusing point.. I'm either speaking with other entities (which would explain how I am able to answer questions and makes statements very quickly) or I'm simply speaking to myself... which is far less entertaining.

Considering I've been talking to myself for as much of my life as I can remember... I'm thinking its the later. Well, I'll keep looking for some astral proof. Otherwise, I'll continue to enjoy my conversations. :)

That's pretty awe inspiring. It seems pointless for me to still be skeptical, but, videos are videos. This is something highly interesting though. I'll see if I can't work on doing this myself.

Has anyone been able to reproduce this yet?

Welcome to Metaphysics! / energies on the dancefloor
December 22, 2005, 21:23:07
I think most people who have found their way to the dance floor would agree there is a definite energy to be found out there. I used to dance to mostly electronic trance music, the feelings of alternate consciousness and energy are very powerful.

Well, enjoy the dance. Ride the waves of energy.

Hello,

I've been a member of this forum for about a year now, mostly reading and trying different techniques. Well, last night I finally had what I would consider an accurate, self-induced, out of body experience.

I was lying on my floor, after attempting to AP from my bed earlier, and was calming my mind and relaxing. I've had many experiences in the past where I would feel myself floating out of my body, but each of these instances eventually became me viewing my "astral body" in the third person. This made it very difficult to believe I was not just imagining the projection. I would trail myself as I flew around what I felt to be my house, or the city, or some other similar situation, but I never truly felt I was experiencing what I was doing. I felt I was using my imagination to create my experience, seemingly tricking myself.

So, I decided last night, as I lay on the floor, to allow my body to float away, but then, attempt to focus on seeing out of my eyes. This shift in focus came much easier and quicker than I imagined it would! I simply imagined what I would see from my own eyes, not what my astral body would look like to an outsider.

The results were astounding! I found myself in a realm where I saw and identified things, before my mind could conceive them. I was actually projecting! I was free.

This being my first true projection, I was easily drawn back to my body, where I would focus on my traditional exit technique and then apply my first-person point of view rule. Again, I was out.

I would guess the experience in its entirety, before I couldn't stand the excitement any longer, lasted near an hour.

I felt as though, I was lying down, very exhausted physically, and as I allowed my body to drift, I was melting into the floor, drifting away into blackness. I have had these feelings before (before I knew about Astral Projection) when I was younger, in grade school. I would always assume this was something that I did when my body was very tired. When I was younger, I would allow my body to drift to sleep at the described instance, instead of keeping my mind active and receptive.

Well, that's all I have. This community is amazing, and I believe these forums were instrumental in my success. I have glimpsed the doorways. My future will be exploring the astral world! Thank you all,

-Icarus.

Thank you for your tip! I was just at the point where I needed a little piece of knowledge to get me over the edge. I'm so glad we have the Internet to facilitate our quests for information. Instant access.. at our fingertips.

I'm going to try the second part of your tip tonight. As for the part about the herb, I'll be sure to look it up over at erowid. Sounds interesting if taken correctly.

farewell,

Ic.

Welcome to Metaphysics! / Automatic Drawing

someone care to explain this "automatic art" or "psychic art"?

How does it work? Can someone give an example of a technique or what to expect... It sounds very exciting.

Hello,

I've been working on APing off and on for about a year now. I *think* I'm able to exit my body, but I'm not sure where to go after I climb out. Lately I've been exiting by climbing up, out of my body using a ladder. Once I get out though, I just kind of float there then, end up back in my body after a bit of time.

Anyone have any suggestions of what I should do when I get out. When I'm out is it considered an OBE already? -  if so should I just start creating?

Thanks for any help,

-Icarus

my wings would melt before I got there...

I was wondering if anyone here sees people from their dreams. As in, for the first time. I've had a few dreams where I meet people in my dreams, then the next day I'll see them; at school, on the road, something like that.

Anyone else do this?

I had so much fun the other night! I had my first lucid dream...

I was definitely aware that I was dreaming, I kept telling myself and others around me I was to make sure. I wasn't in complete control, because some things still changed without me deciding/noticing, but man, the power!! hehe.

I would decide I wanted things and then I would run into the next room and find it there. Knowing you are dreaming allows for manipulation of every character in your dream as well, which helps a lot to keep it going.

That was about 2 nights ago and I haven't had one since. I'm hoping I will soon. I think the biggest help was writing down a few words about my dreams when I woke up.

I'm SO happy!!!

Anyone who's new and looking into this, feel free to ask any questions! I hope everyone will be able to do this soon enough.

Bye,

Any techniques for absorbing energy from the ground?

-Icarus
#21
I usually feel as though I absorb most of my energy from the sun. I can tell the difference after a few days of not having direct sun contact, via clouds or what have you.

I live in San Diego where its mostly sunny year round, but we've been having a rainy winter and man I can feel my energy drained. When the sun is out I suck it in.

I need a new energy source probably. heh.

I feel as though, I probably have achieved an OBE before, not knowing to call it an OBE (but the description fits).

Once I discovered the concept of Astrally Projecting it seems every time I'm about to drop off I say to myself: here we go....and then drop back into my body.

It's very annoying because I can't get anything done. Uhh. So I guess since I'm not blissfully ignorant anymore, I'd like to know a good way to advance into the vibration stage.

I usually can relax my body fine and can feel minor vibrations throughout my body, but when I try to do anything with them, they disappear.

Any help on how to channel vibrations is appreciated.

Thanks,

-Icarus

Thanks for the greetings guys and gals.

I'll try to keep my height in moderation MajorTom. :)

Practice, practice, practice......

I've been meditating using Raja Yoga Techniques for a small but significant (for me) amount of time. This Astral projection thing seems like the same thing but in Western terms, mostly.

When I relax my body I find the excitement of having an OBE usually brings me out of my trance and I become fully awake again.

The two most significant experiences are where I was trying to let my body fall asleep, and as it fell down and down I suddenly had the feeling I was going to die. I tried to accept death at this point and talked my mind into accepting it. Then right at the end I flashed back into my body.

Also, I've feel as though when my body falls asleep, I'll have an energetic build up and then climax (astrally, I suppose) and then my body starts to jiggle or vibrate uncontrollably. But I'm pretty sure my physical body is vibrating, not my astral one.

If anyone has any tips or can at least tell me to continue I'm on the right path, I'd really appreciate it. If its totally off, I need a new technique :)

This place is overwhelming. I could use some Astral buddies.

I've been experimenting with projecting using NEW. I'm not sure whether my results are even close to training my body - but I keep trying anyway. Practice has to help somewhat.

Enjoy,
