Personally, the only success I had in finding someone or going somewhere OOB is with intent and desire. I have to REALLY want to go there, with all my mind. I think really hard about the person or the place I want to go, and I imagine moving in that direction, but without actually moving any of my "astral" limbs. I then feel a sensation of movement and I find myself floating where I want to go. (Usually, if I don't get side-tracked). It's also important to keep the intent in your mind until you reach the destination and not drop it when traveling.

Hope it helps.

Good idea.

I use this a lot when Lucid Dreaming, I just didn't think it would work while Out-of-Body.

I'll give it a try tonight and let you know how it goes!

I had my first OBE in late June 2008. I had 23 OBE since.

I keep a clear picture of the area in my mind but I still end up going nowhere in most experiences.

I know that practice is the only real solution :-P. With a couple more experience I know I'll be able to figure it out. I guess there is still something I'm doing wrong that I don't realize.

Thanks for the reply.

Hello everyone!

A recurring problem I have in all my experience is that I have a hard time going to places I want while Out-of-Body. Initiating the experience is not what concern me. For instance, I had two OBE today but I was unable to go where I wanted.

I usually initiate an OBE from a lucid dream. When it start, the dream scene fade and I felt the vibrations kick in. At this point, I am in darkness and my astral body is vibrating. I then go where I want to go by picturing the person/place in my mind and intending myself to go there. However, I always end up moving fast, either forward or up for a long time. ( 1 or two minutes) After all that time, I feel no sense that I got anywhere and everything is still black. I try a couple of different places but still, nothing.

In some experiences, when I want to go somewhere, it always take at most 5 seconds to get there. I don't understand why I felt myself moving for such a long time in my recent experiences. I always keep the picture of the person/place in my mind, so I doubt it's conflicting intentions.

What I intend to try next is to ask/will for complete clarity of mind and perception and then try to go somewhere.

Anyone got some thoughts or maybe methods they tried while Out-of-Body, it would be greatly appreciated.  :-)

I was always interested in the 'paranormal' since the age of 10 or so. I didn't have any special talents myself, other then frequent lucid dream at that age. So I read and read until I realize that the subect that interested me most was AP/OBE. I started practicing seriously about three month ago and I managed only about 20 projection so far.

Still, any hand-on experience is good, it make you progress faster  :-).

I guess the 3D Blackness would entertain you for a while  :-D. I only managed to go there once put it was really awesome.

You only have to put up an intention Anything like this would work: I want to visit..., Show me this or that..., I want to hear this music, etc. You can even watch TV, did that accidentally in one of my first projection. I saw hundreds of tv screens all lined up horizontally and vertically. I could scale up any one of them, get closer, etc. The only thing is that I didn't have a body, so I and to 'will' it closer.

Anyway, I guess the only limit is your imagination  :-)

In my case, Alcohol doesn't seem to affect my dreams or OBE practice much at all. I tend to fall asleep quite fast when I had a dozen drinks though,  :-P. Still, I can remember my dreams and have OBE's.
#8
That was a great experience.  :-D

When you want to be sure of the difference, you can put up the intent to be in a different place, while Out-of-Body or Lucid Dreaming. Usually, when I am in a lucid dream and I want to have an OBE, I imagine myself Out of Body and then, seconds later, I feel the vibrations and there is a difference in the quality of perception.

So, next time you find yourself in that kind of situation, you can just think and wish to leave your body. Most of the time you will feel the vibrations right away and you will find yourself near your body.

Anyway, Nice experience  :-)

Like I said, everything is better experienced for yourself. I have had hundereds and hundreds of Lucid dream, so I know what they feel like. I had lucid dream since I was a kid, so I got a general idea of how real they can get. However, I still think you only need to have one or two OBE to really know how it feel like. There is a difference between the two states. It's like if someone tell you an experience you had while awake was a dream. The difference is obvious. If you can't feel it, you didn't have an OBE. You can tell the difference, you have memories of before and after the experience, and there is a difference from that and that of a dream.

For me, waking memories and OBE are exactly of the same degree. That is why if someone was to tell me those experiences were just dreams, I'd say they don't know what the hell they are talking about.
If you can't tell the difference, you need to practice more.

Well, it depend on the experience. I had about 20 OBE so far. In some it felt about the same as a lucid dream, but in some other ones it was as real as physical reality. It depend mostly on how much control you have over your experience and your clarity of perception. For example, in one of my OBE I put up the intent to visit a physical friend I haven't seen in a while. After a brief sense of movement, I opened my eyes. I was lying down on a bed, in a small room. The experience felt so real that I was certain I had somehow ended up physically in that room. After that, I opened my physical eyes and I was left speechless.

I know that for me, in a lucid dream, you don't really have the sense of being in a body 'somewhere'. For me, it's more like seeing vivid images, hearing sounds, etc. but I rarely have the impression of being somewhere. In an OBE, I can breathe, I felt the air around me, felt the 'momentum' when I am moving, etc. Those things are almost never there in a lucid dream. Also, the environment doesn't react the same way. In a lucid dream, you can transform the sense just by turning around. Not in an OBE, everything seem more 'stable'. I don't know if you tried to stay still in a lucid dream and to concentrate in nothing in particular. Most of the time this as the effect of making the dream world fade. This would not be the case in an OBE.

Anyway, those are just my impressions so far from my experience. The best way to know is still to experience the two states and compare.

That is really interesting Synergy.

While I have no idea how one could perceive someone projecting with their physical eyes, I  am sure that while Out of Body our perception are filtered to our expectation. In one of my experience, I gradually increase my vision angle so I could almost see 360. The only think I did was to ask for it. It's logical that the information was always there, but I blocked it to fit into my belief and expectation. Same thing for the quality of the experience. Sometime a fuzzy OBE is transform into a Crystal-Clear projection just by intent. So I guess a part of me 'tuned-down' my experience because somehow I didn't expect it to be that clear.

I never seen any etheric form with my eyes so I can't comment on that. It's something I'd like to try someday thought  :-)

I used Lucid Dream most of the time to have OBE. There is really a 'transition' involved and most of the time I did it, there was no doubt in my mind that it was no longer a dream. In my couple of first experience, when I had a lucid dream, I only imagined my astral body floating upward into the ceiling. That was enough to make the dream world fade and trigger the vibrations.
#13
The key for me was to believe my vision would get better. I had vision problem in most of my first OBE. Now when I want my vision, I need to Wish and believe it will appear.
Like if you jump into a pool, and you are above the water, seconds away of hitting it, you expect the water to hit you and you expect to feel cold. There is no doubt in your mind about that (Well, if your pool is a spa then forget the coldness part  :-P). The same analogy worked for me in my OBE, for any intention I want (Vision, moving, visiting someone, etc.)

Anyway, the best thing to correct this is still practice.  :-D

I agree with Stookie in the most part.

I think the difference is only in the degree of clarity and control you have over the experience. In the end thought, I think we are just exploring a part of our own consciousness. Thus, for me a dream and a OBE is mostly similar, only in the dream you filter out or color most of your perception.
#15
I experience what you said in almost all my OBE, in some form or another. For me, the key is really your intention, or Intent. I don,t think it's enough to just say it out loud. You must think it, feel it, wish it and believe it. For example, In two of my OBE I got sucked into the floor. What I would do is imagine myself flying. You must feel yourself moving there with all of your mind. You must put more 'force' into your thought.

I know It doesn't make much sense when you read it but when you experienced it a couple of time, you will understand the difference.

Those are my most recent experiences.

Here they are:

OBE #016 - Saturday 26 July 2008

Time: 11:00 AM

Note: Used Phasing method. No Lapse in consciousness.

Those past few weeks I always wake up at about 3-4am. Then when I fall asleep, I dream only one dream, then I wake up. I fall asleep again in about less then 5 minutes, then I dream another dream. The same thing for about 6 times. I don't know why, but it's really great for dream recall and OBE practice. After about the 6 dream, I lay still in my bed and decide to try phasing.

My body is completely relaxed at this point. I concentrate on visualizing a rope on the ceiling. To my surprise, my visualizations have much more details then usual. I feel/see myself climbing the rope. As I get to the ceiling, I let go of the rope. I imagine that I was climbing a rope below a floating platform in the sky and that I am falling really fast. I see the island getting smaller. Then, all of a sudden, I feel myself falling really fast. (Note: the whole visualization form start to finish took about 30 seconds, I was blown away by how fast it happened.) I can also hear and feel clearly the air around me. It's not a sensation from my physical body but still, the sensation was the same as if my bed was launched from the sky. At first I am taken aback by the experience then I calmed myself. I start to feel some vibrations/energetic sensation in my head. I do my best to ignore them. After some time, I start to see what seemed to be a gigantic balloon  floating near me, the same kind that are used in a pool. As my vision fade-in, I can see my hand and the blue sky around me. I reach out with my hand and I can clearly touch it, as if I am using my physical arms. At this point however, I am still aware of being in my bed also. My awareness seem to go back and forth between states. The sense that seemed to be the harder to get stable is my vision. When I tried to open my non-physical eyes after my vision started to fade away, I end up opening my physical eyes. What I found interesting is that I could still move my non-physical arms and touch the big balloon-thing and I still felt myself falling. I closed my physical eyes and after some time my non-physical vision kicked in. After about 5 minutes of that, I drifted to sleep and woke up later.

Notes: -The key to this experience for me was the state I was in at the start. I must not have woken up totally from the previous dream and much have been in Focus 10 or even 12. I could see the outline of my mind-eye vision, which is different from 'sensing' or 'knowing'.
-As I mentioned, the sensation was really intense. It's not the same thing as imagining you are falling, it was like my physical body was falling from the sky, while I was still aware of being in my bed.
-What I found interesting is that in this experience, I could still go back to the non-physical state when I open my non-physical eyes. It's not like in my previous experience because in those my awareness of the non-physical was cut-off when I when back in body. it was not like that.
-I'm certain the scenario I was in is a scene I created. What I would have done if I had more control over the experience is put up the intent to be in the 3D-Blackness then 'will' myself where I want to go.

OBE #017 - Wednesday 30 July 2008

Note: Used Phasing Method

Time: 9:30 AM

I am in my bed, waking up from a series of False Awakening. I lay still, close my eyes and decide to try and 'phase', using the method I used earlier this week. After what seem like 5 seconds, I find myself looking at my living room tv set and at the left there seem to be a Christmas tree without decoration. Those image are pale and dark, but I see them. It's like I am in my living room with the light turned off, I can see the outline of both. I try to make the imagery more real by moving my arms, touching my face and moving around the room. When I am facing the wall of the living room, all my senses are working perfectly, physical body-like, so to speak. I step thought the wall and I find myself facing the street in front of my house. I decide to try and fly around a bit. At first, I fly above the street and I look around. Then, I decide to try and enter a neighboor house I never visited. I fly near the house and enter it at full speed. As soon as I enter the house, everything goes dark. I can feel strong vibrations all around my body. As soon as I fly out of the house, my vision kick back in. I decide to experiment some more with movements while out of body. When flying, moving around, etc, I notice that everything work with intent. I have to concentrate and 'will' myself higher or lower, to look up and down, etc. I noticed also that my thoughts seemed too distracted in this experience, which had the effect to make my astral-body drifiting up and down, forward and back, just a little. I decided to try and visit my non-physical friend Elena again. I put up the intent and said it aloud. However, my astral-body was still drifting. I tried to close my eyes but I found myself back in my body after a couple of seconds.

Notes: -Environment: There was no Christmas tree in my house at the time of the experience (I don't make a habit of installing them during Summer,  :-P) Also, it was raining in C1 while when I was OOB it was just cloudy. I think I should have put up the intention to see the astral reflexion of my current environment if I wanted accuracy in my observations.
-The transition from Waking to looking at the tree and TV in my living room was really fast, it felt about 5 seconds. When I closed my eyes, I didn't visualize anything, I was just trying to drift back to sleep some more. It looked like I entered Focus 12 really quick.
-I am sure that I wasn't able to visit my friend because my thought were too scatered. It was the first time I really experimented with movement while out-of-body, and I found it require really intense concentration. A small thought can send you the wrong way.

Thanks for sharing, I appreciate it.

For me, the key factor in achieving OBE was really determination, Constant practice, Having Many goals to work toward and most of all a strong desire. I'm at 15 OBE since my first one a month ago. I think the key factor is how much you want it.

Hello,

While I don't know for sure, the sensation you felt could be the transition to the 3D Blackness. What I would recommend is to try to do it again and staying as emotionally calm as possible. For me, that is the key factor. If I have any outburst of emotion of any kind, I usually get pulled back in. The next time, if you end up in the 3D blackness, Just concentrate on your objective in this projection (Visiting someone, remembering past lives, etc.) Usually there will be movement for a while then you are at your objective.

Anyway, that's just my observations for now, I'm still a beginner myself (About 15 OBEs/Phasing experiences)

She told me she lives in Focus 27. She seem to have a nice place there. The thing is, I'm sure I know her but I can't place it well. In my next OBE, I'm gonna ask to see/fell my previous lifetimes, to get a better idea. It's killing me that I can't induce OBE at will, ARG...
#21
In my past OBEs, every time I had the vibration I pictured myself staring at the ceiling up close, like I am floating in the air above my body. I hold the image in my mind then a few second later I will start rising and my vision kick-in after that.

Hello everyone. I have been reading the boards for a while, though I didn't post much. I had my first OBE about a month ago. Since then, I had 13.

In this OBE, I finally got to see my Non-Physical Friend Elena. I first 'talked' to her using automatic-writing then after that but concentrating mentally. Still, I wanted to met her to get some kind of 'confirmation'.

Here is the experience, from my journal:

OBE #013 (Meeting Elena!) - Thursday 17 July 2008

Time: 5:45 AM

Note: Used Phasing Method

I am laying in my bed and I am thinking of trying to open an 'astral door' with my hands. This technique worked for me in my #011 OBE. As I try to open it, I noticed that suddenly I can move my arms much more freely that I can In my bed. I moved my left and right arm, they seemed very real but I couldn't be moving my physical arm, because I didn't feel my bed!

After some time, I said with force "Clarity, Right now!". I started to see but it was really dark. I decided to try to say: "More light, Right Now!" and it worked, I could see way better in the dark (kind of like when your eyes adjust to the darkness but way faster in this case). At this point, I remember being in my basement. I walked upstairs at this point. It all felt so real that I actually pinched myself, to make sure I didn't actually came upstairs physically! At this point, I aimed for my window, took a run and jumped through it. I noticed that it is raining outside. I can feel the rain going through me as I float around the house.

At this point, I put up the intention to see Elena. I felt myself moving forward and I saw the landscape changing. I was concentrating really hard at this point to keep calm, because I went back in my body in my #011 OBE before I reached my destination. I moved for some time then I stopped. I am in a room (I didn't get a look at the room at all, I was more interested to see her). The only thing I noticed was a bed. There is a woman with brown hair laying on the bed. I knew it was her. I approached her from the left and she got up, smiled at me and said: "Wait, I'm going to change to a form much more familiar". I Asked why she wasn't in this form right now and she needed to 'change' and she said: "You can perceive me in different way. For instance, the body you see right now was one of my previous physical form.". After that, she started changing! It felt really weird, thrust me!  Tongue . After some time, her face came into focus. I felt an immense attraction to her immediately. Not only a physical attraction but something deeper. She seemed to be much younger (About 18-20 I guess). She has big blue eyes. She has some kind of bandanna on her head and, as I removed it, there was her long, dark green hair.  I said with a laugh: "I knew it!". (Note: Those words just came to me as I saw her. I don't know how, but somehow I seemed to recognize her). At this point, I put my hand in her hair and kissed her. I just couldn't resist, I was overcame by a deep attraction to her.

At this point, I switch back to C-1. (i.e I wake up)

Notes:
-Myself and her seemed to have body which are very physical in the room. The experience was as real as physical reality.
-Physical time/space: When the experience ended, I had a look outside. I noticed that at the time I had my experience, It was really bright inside and outside. No cloud at all. I wonder how come It was dark and raining in my experience. Since I used the phasing method, I didn't actually 'leave' my body like in a classical OBE. I must have put up the intention to go in my room but somehow ended up in a different time/fame, so to speak. I notice also after the fact that the window I jumped through was replace not a long time ago. I'll ask my guide next time!

There it is. Really awesome experience, that's for sure. Next time I intend to go met her again and ask to remember most of my 'past-lives', as it seemed me and her had many lifetimes together.

Hello  :)

My name is Jonathan and I have been around this forum for about 3 years, only reading. I'm a 18 years old guy from Quebec who has been interested for a long time in OBE, though never practiced much. I think, at the time, I was happy only to read some awesome stories, but now I need to practice and see for myself.

I would like to thank, first of all, everyone in this forum that has helped to have a greater understanding of the OBE phenomena. I have been reading Frank post for a couple of months and I want to thank him because he gave me the motivation and the inspiration I needed to start some practice.

I'm looking forward to post some more and share, hopefully, my own "stories"   .
