You can always supplement any eyesight improvement regimen with acupressure.  There are several points around the bony protrusions of the eye socket, the temple and on the hand that are said to improve vision.

QuoteI have a few good friends who are into Universal Energy (some of them have completed the 13++ level - highest)

Seems like your friends would have been the first people you asked.  What did they have to say about it?

Personally, after reading over the website/faqs, it doesn't look like anything I would have any desire to do free or otherwise, but it is interesting nonetheless.  Keep us updated on your experiences with it if you decide to go to a seminar.

If you are worried about the danger of it just be sure to read over well any liability forms you may have to sign.

Welcome, I'm fairly new here myself.  If you are referring to being attuned to channel Reiki energy here is a good place to begin exploring http://www.solarraven.com/reikisplash.html.  There are also a couple of good sites that are stickied in this forum on the same subject.

Anyone with the intent to receive Reiki can receive an attunement, although I am a firm believer that you can "attune" yourself, if an attunement is needed at all to surface healing abilities in any individual.  The pros of such practice are limitless while the only con that I can come up with at the moment is that of any energy work; much practice and dedication.

From doing tai chi and energy work in general I have noticed an increase in attention and concentration, which has also had an affect on my memory and intelligence as a whole.  I have also had a strong increase in 'effortless' power from doing energy work that I have noticed anywhere from doing push hands to lifting weights.  I also sense a decrease in stress and an increase in relaxation throughout each day.  When i'm doing energy work and meditation I find that I rarely if ever get sick so I would assume stimulating the energy body promotes a healthy immune system.

An interesting thing that I have also become aware of is that I am a lot more patient and kind with other people.  There have been times that I've taken short breaks from daily energy work and meditation and have found that my overall demeanor begins to go down.  When I begin meditating again and have a conscious effort to remain relaxed the better qualities of my character return.

QuoteBut...I'd probably be working in McDonalds..

Somebody has got to do it

From a business perspective and having a degree in business you could always ponder the possibility of creating a private school for esoteric studies.  Obviously there is a demand.

Grass Roots Reiki webring gives distant attunements every Monday night at 9pm (your local time) for anyone with the intent to learn reiki.  You can also ask questions and get feedback from other reiki students from all over.

I can't really say, or better yet describe what I "see" when I close my eyes.  Rather I sense a vast emptiness or void.  I also get a feeling of warmth and comfort behind my closed eyes.

A house is only as good as its foundation...

You are right, everyone develops at their own pace.  When you feel like you have a effortless, solid grasp of the concepts I would say move on, or stay, either way you will still be stimulating your energy body.

Pertaining to Astral Dynamics, "rushing development creates fragile energetic structures that have little practical use, as they tend to break down when put under pressure" (Bruce 1999).  The book suggests that you practice the secondary system for a minimum of three months before moving into the primary centers (p. 172).  So on average, you will be going through chapters 12 and 13 of Astral Dynamics in about 12 weeks, although I wouldn't rush it if I were you.  I spent a little over a year doing a form of Taoist meditation/energy work where I stood, scanned my body for blockages and did a preliminary dissolving process before I even began dissolving the various energy gateways.  In other energy systems, dedicated students can spend years doing just the standing which is taught to build great internal power.

I am just starting to look into NEW myself.  I already have a strong body awareness and was doing the MBA and TI exercises at the same time I was reading the chapters.  I'm not sure how long it will take me to do the exercises stimulating the arms, legs, hands and feet since I've done energy work similar to NEW in the past.  I am assuming 2-4 months would be sufficient before incorporating other exercises.
