Well... you have already set yourself up to most likely experience whatever you believe may or may not be there.

You cannot know that a spirit lives on your stairs... unless you 'know' first what a spirit is... I don't... You can believe that there is one there... regardless... Just stay away from the stairs when you 'AP'. :)

Agreed that maybe the terminology is incorrect, after all, words are just labels. I don't *know* that it's a spirit, but I do know for sure that there is something, some kind of energy, there.

I don't believe that you need to have an understanding of something, in order to experience that thing. If anything, it's the not knowing, the not understanding of something that makes us fearful or wary of it.

I only became interested in AP very recently.  I work with a guy and we have very aligned energy.  He had a near death OBE as a child.

One day, I'd had a particularly poor nights sleep, bordering between asleep and awake and I mentioned it to him.  He said to me that we spend our time asleep flying through the cosmos.

That got me interested and I researched some stuff and found a few blogs.  I wasn't ready though.  I put it to one side for a bit, then recently I came across another trigger so I'm back here.

I've always been spiritually aware, I'm a reiki practitioner and I have horses.  I've also done lots of meditation, yoga, qigong, martial arts etc/

I'm currently using the Steve G. Jones course as I downloaded it for free and despite his hard sell website which is a complete turn off, it seems like a comprehensive program.  He talks a little too much though, but I guess if you're a complete beginner at all this stuff it's probably good.  I dislike his ego talk too but thankfully now the beginning is over only the odd bit slips in here and there.

I've had the most powerful meditation ever already using his program.  I think the highlight was the angels swathing me me in their wings  :-D.  I'm not sure about the "Raising your Kundalini" track that I have next.

With the meditations, I'd start with not trying to clear your mind, but to watch it.

Start by saying to yourself, "What will my next thought be?" and wait for it.  Don't fight the thoughts and don't label them as good or bad, just sit back and wait to see what they are, and start by doing this for just two minutes, building up by a minute per session.  Afterwards, write down some of the key things.  Eventually, you can go back to the thoughts and meditate on them.

Don't fight emotion, be it positive or negative. Simply allow it to be there.

Good luck :-)

You can't *make* your hands do it.  You have to *allow* them.

If you haven't had any formal training, then it's important to protect yourself by meditating and bathing yourself in white or gold like or creating a bubble that you step into and check for cracks or anything along those lines.

Then, when you work with energy, the most important thing is that you are working with higher energy, not your own.  If you give your own energy you can become depleted.  It's all about connecting to the higher force and acting as a transmitter for that energy.

Before I became attuned to reiki, I was taught to slowly open a tap on my crown chakra, connecting to the higher life force and visualising becoming bathed by this energy as it engulfed my entire body including hands to be transmitted.  When finished, I had to ensure that I turned the tap off when I was done with it.

Yoga, chakra work, tai chi, qigong etc can all really help in balancing your own energy, and in doing so this helps us to connect to higher energy.  The single most important thing when "giving" energy to others is that you don't deplete your own.

Just allow the flow of energy and it will be there.  It's good practice to put your hands on yourself when they are feeling hot or charged.

Hi, I'm new  :-D

I've lived in this house for nearly 4 years with my housemate.  Only recently did we finally talk about the spirit that lives on the stairs, even though we've both known it's there for a long time.  It's fairly placid but does like to push or pull people down the stairs from time to time and housemate nearly had a light fitting from the hallway fall on her head.

I'm currently going through steps to prepare myself for AP - meditations, affirmations, chakra cleansing, protection with white light etc.  Last night in my meditation, a light opened up and tried to get me to go but i didn't feel ready.  I'm nearly there, just not quite.

I fell asleep after the meditation and woke up about 1am and went downstairs for some water, leaving the light on in the stairs.  As I came out of the kitchen, I turned the light off as usual and walked into the dining room to go upstairs.  The neighbour's security light went off and left me in pitch black. I know that I didn't turn the light off. I thought for a minute about which light to turn on, then decided that was stupid and went to the bottom of the stairs and tried the light. Nothing. I turned the light on of the landing which worked, went upstairs and went to bed.  This morning the light was working fine.

All of this made me think - is it a good idea to AP when you know you've got a spirit living in your house? I'm working on protection as well, but is there anything else I can do to protect myself?
