There is a good explanation of altered-state work here:
The Shamanic Path

"Meditation" essentially means slowing your brainwaves into the Theta frequency (around eight Hertz or a little lower).  At least that's what neuroscientists discovered when they hooked up a bunch of experienced meditators to EEGs.

It was always hard for me to do that, at first.  Then I discovered the techno-shamanic means to the same end, using sound to entrain brainwaves (synchronize to the beat you're hearing).  Some training with that has enabled me to slow down my brain at will, without the routine of finding a quiet place, lying down, etc.

Lots of sources exist for such sound.  Try a web search for brainwave entrainment, Theta.

Yeah, those maniacs at Xxaxxsoft/IDHHB/slimeworld.org have a sense of humor as well as a sense of honor.

I have been playing around for decades with ESP testers and trainers, beginning with Zener cards in the early 1960s.

The most interesting, useful and mind-blowing of all of them, in my opinion, is the precog trainer, from Xxaxxsoft.  The trial version is a free download.

The word I use for that "path" is dharma.  I feel as if I have an internal compass that tells me when I'm on track.  It's the way James S. expressed it above:

Quote from: James S...you seem to feel it, or know it. Everything works, everything seems brighter & more alive. A lot of synchronicities happen.

It's easy to get off the path without recognizing it, but eventually you start feeling uneasy, restless, depressed or distressed.  Then you just look within, find something you thought or felt you needed to do but avoided, and just do it.

Welcome to Spiritual Evolution! / Re: coincedence?

Quote from: friendly strangerDid i communicate with her through meditation? is this some sort of sign? do i have maybe a gift of some spiritual nature? or was it just some coincidence?

If it is a "gift" it is one given to all normal minds.  Virtually everyone except those with brain defects has the ability to send and receive telepathic images and messages.  Like every talent, some have it stronger than others and it can be strengthened with practice and training.

Re: "coincidence" -- That's something I don't believe in.  I suppose it can happen, but most things that people would like to dismiss as coincidence are probably  synchronicity or just "scary" stuff someone doesn't want to accept.

What the healer told you is probably true, and one of the best ways to do emotional clearing and healing is through altered-state work or "meditation".

This may appear to put you in a bind since you're having trouble maintaining the meditative state, but there is a simple solution.  That is "sonic driving" (this is the shamanic term for it) or "brainwave entrainment" (a more scientific, neuro-electric terminology).  There are many tapes, CDs and MP3s around that can keep your brainwaves at the necessary frequency (ideally around the Alpha/Theta crossover point, the planet's Schumann Resonance frequency).  I have noticed that this site's owner offers one, an MP3 called "Abyss".

I love semantic discussions, which is why I registered for this board to add my input.

Absolutes have opposites:  black/white, for example.  In my reality, such opposites exist only as abstractions, to imply a continuum between them -- in other words, all the shades of gray.

Whether relativistic concepts have opposites depends not only on the concept in question, but on the preferred definition of "opposite."

What's the opposite of "orange"?  Some would say that it has none, but in the common expression, "comparing apples and oranges," the opposite of orange is apple.
