I've resolved never to let myself get into debt.
Which is funny, because I'm about to take out a huge student loan.
I think there is a mindset that debt is always the result of poor financial planning and choice, and this is only partially true. There are some people who have absolutely no chance of avoiding it, such as those with massive medical expenses, and the millions who live in areas where their pay-check can't even pay the most basic living expenses. I don't want to sound like a fatalist, but I feel it is generally an unfortunate position thrust on to many people whom played no role in actively becoming debt-ridden. In fact, certain aspects of the US and European financial system (and I am assuming it is similar most everywhere else), actually actively promote the slow devalutation of a laborer's pay, concentrating the difference into banking centers.
people's lack of an internal locus of control is what causes debt and any kind of poverty.
they blame their problems on everything but themselves and therefore manifest a reality where they have no control.
