I don't know if the Mayans knew the timing of major global changes or not. Maybe people think its true so they cause it to be true? Either way, here's how I think it could go down in the near or far future, and it would be best if we didn't attach too much importance to when. I see the world as a mathematician does, various political and financial and game-theory and meme evolution influences accelerating toward something. What is that thing? Viral democracy, like Richard Stallman created the GNU GPL open source license which is a type of "viral license", a virus that spread through the legal system of Earth and created the open source movement and pirate party and many ideas (memes flowing through society, not organizations) that now dominate how the world works. Where you go is none of your country's business since you are not their citizen anymore. You may live in some other country which has less restrictive rules on who can come in (You have food? We're starving over here, come on in) or international waters for example, but that is only an "existence proof" which is useful in this global strategy toward something else.

If a majority of people on Earth entered into a legally binding contract with eachother of the following form (we'll figure out the details later), then their simultaneous giving up of citizenship makes countries a minority power and those without citizenship a majority power, in terms of democracy and land based authority, therefore if the contract between them said so then Earth would become 1 country and citizenship would have no meaning.

This model of all-or-nothing commitment to a plan works well for http://kickstarter.com which is a unique way to do crowdsourced charity funding. For each proposed project, a date and money amount is committed to up front, people commit to donate certain amounts of money to those as charity but only if the total donations planned is at least that money amount by that date, so either the project gets enough money in time to do what needs to be done, or nobody pays. There's no risk of a project failing because it only got half as much money as it needed. It gets none or at least as much as it needs.

We can do global democracy, or whatever way to organize the world a majority of people agree to (You could even choose to keep it as it is now, but why?), similar to how Kickstarter works, by committing to give up citizenship only if a majority of people also commit to it on that condition.

The ways the central banks, countries, politics, and other global forces control us depend on us not working together. We have the upper hand in negotiating how the world works. If they don't let us give up citizenship, that would be slavery, as if they owned us, which is why giving up your citizenship(s) is usually easy to do.

I now informally, and later formally when more people become interested, commit to the following contract with everyone else who commits to it:

Spread the word to other forums by writing your own conditional-on-global-majority-agreement contract, however you think it should be written, and see if people agree to it by repeating your words as their own commitment to the contract you wrote. This is a kind of democracy more like spreading memes. Vote with communication. If it spreads, it was a good idea. If not, only money can push it on people.

I must be onto something important. Just a few minutes after writing this and linking it from http://www.kurzweilai.net/forums/topic/president-obama-will-be-forced-by-circumstances-to-apologise-genuine-birth-cert where I coined the phrase "land-nigger" to refer to everyone oppressed under the authority of land (Throughout history authority and land have always gone together, but the Internet is changing that, like Wikipedia evolved between 2 different kinds of democracy, see the "bigotry of land" here http://www.kurzweilai.net/forums/topic/bigotry-is-categorizing-by-less-important-things-while-ignoring-important-things for details. I'm not being hateful, but "land-nigger" is the right way to explain how the world works.). Someone just called me from a "Restricted" number (it says on my phone), said "hi ben" (which is my name), I answered, and they said "wrong number" and hung up. Unlikely. This is similar to when I wrote somewhere about the challenger space ship exploding due to government not knowing how to organize things (the O-ring blew up), yet at that time I could find nothing supporting that historical event in Internet searches, and one of the pictures on my website was temporarily changed to a picture of a space ship (which they can do with Centralized Internet or simply normal hacking). I won't be answering any more "Restricted" numbers, hiding from the possibility of me calling them back. Observing incoming communications and broadcasting them is not a sign of paranoia, its my policy of proceeding toward global democracy honestly for everyone to see.

This sounds like a well-meaning concept, but on the off-chance it were possible, I believe it would plunge the world into chaos. Governments, however much we despise them, do provide extremely difficult-to-replace services and protections, and help to ensure the safe working of essential infrastructure.

The first thing that world would experience in this situation would be mass panic as people realize all the services and social structures they rely on to survive have just been permenantly disrupted. The second thing would be the realization that democracy is a powerful tool for majorities to exploit minorities, and smaller groups would suffer starvation at the hands of the larger numbers where power was concentrated. Next you would see regional governments begin to crop up as warlords take advantage of the fact that the new "world government" is not able, unsurprisingly, to protect every corner of the world; these warlords would systematically in every area cut off the different districts from the world body, along linguistic and ethnic lines, and a system of fascist dictatorships in most cases would become the new de-facto governments.

The process you describe is creating unity by disolving our past boundaries and governments, and reconstituting another in their place. I think if any movement toward unity will be made, it will almost certainly be through the joining of existing governments into progressively larger bodies- that is how world government will come about, for better or worse.

This is a pretty good summary.

I have said before here, if you could snap your fingers and instantly dissolve all religions, nations, boundaries, governments etc... and also all memory of them... people would immediately get busy rebuilding a nearly identical structure and within a short period the world would look nearly the same as it was before.

That is because the objective world is a projection of the collective Consciousness based on the general state of Awareness and development. Outer world conditions naturally improve as individuals do the hard Work of improving their own state of Consciousness.

Maximizing individual freedom and responsibility leads to a more Enlightened society.

Trying to externally impose a Udopian Society from the outside in, is an ignorant pipe dream.

The present resurgent movement to implement a Marxist/Socialist Udopian society based on redistribution of wealth, etc. is a giant Deception that only leads to a general decline in quality of life for ALL.

Its the math language spirits communicate with. For all of recorded history, its been mistaken for statements about ethics, but War and Love are simply the core 2 symbols of math. As a computer programmer I used to think 0 and 1 were the core of math, but there are deep paradoxes with integers, and this is more similar to quantum and multiverse physics. But you don't have to understand that to speak the language. Best to teach by example and conversation.
