We should all try to keep that child-like memory alive. Remember it if you can. The world will beat it out of you when you grow up, and fill your head with things the WORLD things is important. Hold on to the young imagination and it will always serve you well.

Fhtagn! Fhtagn! Cthulhu loathes you!
If but we knew the power of our thoughts we would guard them more closely.

By the way, Fantasy Flight Games is coming out with a CoC collectible trading card game. I don't normally like card games, but SHEESH, the art quality on those things is amazing, definitely worth buying if there's anything about cthulhu you like.

Hi All.

Nice topic! You very rarely hear about RPG's these days which is a shame. I wouldn't even class computer rpg's in the same league as good old fashioned pen, paper and imagination RPG's.

I played them for years when I was younger. From the age of twelve  up untill about seventeen or eighteen and the only reason I stopped playing is that I grew apart from the people that I played with. I thoroughly enjoyed being a player but nothing could compare to being the GM. I often spent days and weeks totally immersed in creating scenarios, worlds, and even entire solar systems for the players to explore. Like Gandalf I attribute most all of my imaginatory skills to Role Playing Games.

My favourites included;

Vampire
Werewolf
M.E.R.P  (Middle Earth Role Playing)
Mage
Magic: The Gathering
Earthdawn

And a couple more who's names elude me know. Pity my memory isn't as good as my imagination :)

With best regards,

Dave

Yes, that´s a shame that these days no one plays rpgs. They really develop imagination and comunication skills. I bet that in some cases they could be used, for example, as a therapy technique within groups of patients (psychological problems, emotional poblems, etc).

The apllications of RPGs are bigger than we could imagine, we just have to adapt it to what we want in the best way possible.

Actually i am playing a very nice rpg, as a player. I am a mage (my favorite kind of character because of their versatility) that is a little coward. There are many moments in our party that are really funny, but telling that storys here is not funny (you must see it in real time). The players are good because they (we) interprete very well our characters. Sometimes we "loose" (win?) some time with very nice discussions because we have opposite ideas of how we should act next. While discussing that in the middle of a dungeon filled with dangerous things, we often are interrupted because of some bad monster.

Our GM is very good, the story that he inveted is very nice, with many sudden changes (well crafted). We are always living in the edge and we must be very careful, what make things interesting.

As a mage i love make funny magic, not the typical ones, that kill instantly a monster. No, i prefer act in more subtle and nice days. For example i have a spell that creates illusions (one of my favorite kind of spell) and one day we were being chased by  goblins in a rift. It was night and i saved my group just by doing this: i ordered them to be stayed close to the wall (natural stone wall on the rift). Then i made a magic emulating the wall just for covering us. The goblins passed for us without seeing us.

Other time i used a nice combination of magic powers to pass trough some puzzle in a way that was not expected by the GM. This and other situations make this game very nice but the interaction with characteres, and the colective building of a story, it is even better!
I love you!

I just picked up a new role playing party with a friend of mine in the Big eyes small mouth campaign.  Man is it fun :D  It is a rather high powered campaign, but oh well.  I've already had way more fun than I've had anywhere else!

The only group I can get together is for Dungeons & Dragons, but I'm really looking forward to the new World of Darkness and Vampire the Requiem coming out very soon. I'll be forcing the group into the roles of vampires sometime this month.....

We still play two to four times a month. [:D]

RPGs are great[:D]! i used to play warhammer, and had a pretty nice army too, but it got waay to expensive and all the people who played in my area i found annoying. i mostly just stick to old playstation rpgs, and right now im playing the best game ever created[^]. it's called xenogears, and if anyone is into RPG video games i strongly recomend it playing it[;)]

Yeaaaaah I know we're not talkin bout computer rpgs anymore buuuut I just have to say that D2 LORD OF DESTRUCTION IS A KICK butt GAME!(can we say butt????) :) And no I dont think I've ever played the kind of rpg yer talkin about :-/

Kazbadan

In english, "kick butt" means a good or a bad thing?

If you like c-rpgs, maybe you like Morrowind. There are new games coming out like Sacred or Beyond Divinity. But to be honest i dont like very much c-rpgs.
I love you!

Does anybody here plays RPG, role playing games? Do you know what is a RPG?

It´s very nice, but only for those who have imagination and like to build and live good storys.

If you play any RPG, what kind of game do you play? D&D, Vampire, Call of Ctulhu? Sepak a little of your games (i think that i will not have any responses, because i made this thread once without any reply [:D]).
I love you!
