hi Tisha !
We've just started using forums on our work intranet...people are VERY wary about what and how they post...

Often, a senior employee will pop up on the board, castigating others for their (seemingly innocent) comments !

If a comment crosses the line (I jokingly challenged the IT division to a WWF style tag team wrestling event, it was construed as derogatory !!!) then the whole thread is deleted....Giving the whole thing a real "big brother" feel to it !
kind regards
Mark

Hello,

That was really helpful. I see that i have a long way to go on my netiquette. I do have to work on my laziness skills. I am just impatient with my capitals and spell check , etc.  But i will work o
on them.[:D]

P.S.  ( All these things take longer as I am not a very good typist)lol
the only thing necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing in the face of it.

Good site Tisha!

There were a lot of good helpful tips there. [8D]

Greeting Tisha,

Wonderful topic! I found a lot of useful info on a site. Maybe you can stick it, so the people who come to the forums will have chance to edify themself as well[8D]

Hey, I love you guys and gals.  In fact, I love you all so much that I searched the Net for an online Netiquette course, so we ALL may edify ourselves.   Here's an excerpt!

quote:

Perception is the only reality online.

One of the many reasons for creating this site is my shock at how folks do not seem to care how they will be perceived. I have decided it is that they must not care because there are tons of resources online to give you the basics if you look for them. They take no care in the choice of words used, or how the content of their email will reflect on them or be perceived by the other side. Also, judging by the reaction of some being sent to this site, (rather than admit they were participating in a medium they did not totally understand, they have hissy-fits and send flames and make threats) some folks seem to not want to improve themselves or make the effort to learn the necessary skills to be perceived favorably.

. . . . . So, if you are one of those who do care, one of those who can put your ego on the shelf for a moment and realize we all make mistakes, or who up until now have underestimated the importance of these issues - read on. ;-)

If you are interested in seeing how YOUR online communication style rates, check out the course!
