Amethyst Crystal Expierences? (please help)

I'm looking to purchase and Amethyst crystal to aid and improve my dream recall.
Has anyone had any expirences with this?
& Do you recommend any other crystal to me?

I have a quartz and an amethyst but I don't find those that much helpful.
When buying a crystal you need to clean it, then purify it in a river on full moon light apparently. That's what I've been told.
Quartz acts as a catalyst to power up other gems such as the amethyst and should be recharged when it produces no more effect.
I'm not quite sure if they really work tho I have not tried purifying mines under full moonlight and a river.
I do know that amethyst help healing and keep you with prosperity but aside from that...
The effect you get from crystals is really minimal... And they are expensive.
like 30$ for a small amethyst and 20$ for a quartz or something.
I wouldn't personally buy more unless I'm rich and want to build some kind of display with a bunch of different gems in it.
I can't tell you if they helped me or not because I'm not sure.

I'm in the middle of an AP/LD drought and I've tried for the last month or so to sleep with an amethyst under my pillow. I'd had it for a few years and I cleansed it in cold water and did a bit of visualisation. Anyway, it didn't really work. One and a half unpleasant APs and I can barely remember my dreams. Also I can't get to sleep most nights despite being tired. Last night I stopped and hopefully I'll regain my skills. Good luck.
