The 'James Randi Educational Foundation' has had a '$1,000,000' dollar prize for any person who could prove or show psycic phenomena under a controlled envirement, I was wondering if anyone here as heard much about it, attempted it, think he does or doesn't have the money, or anything along those lines. Also, I thought if people here are confident enough to try to get a few people to apply to it and try to prove the psycic phenomena. Really it's very loose guidelines as to what you can do, anything paranormal pretty much. I just don't like the guy too much, very against all types of psycic phenomena.

This has been posted many times before..

Randi doesn't want to be proven wrong, so he wont let that happen.

logic is right, in another astral forum (http://www.astralsociety.com/Forums/ ) a user there tried to get admitted, but the guy replied that its imposssible and said it was just heat and stuff withouit even letting the user demonstrate it to randi.

I applied a year ago to prove I have precognitive dreams and never heard back from them.

i bet you they don't even have the money, it just a ruse and the reason their not admitting people is they want to show even with a million dollars up for grabs no physics want to enter to show that theri false even though its impossible to get admitted, so as far as the general pulbic are concerned randi is right that there is no such thing as phycic powers

Logic

I'm sure they have made a fair bit of money off the whole thing, and that if Randi did conclude that psychic powers exist that the flow of money would soon end.

Well this is pretty intersting. Thanks for all your responces. Perhaps, this site should form a group and try to find other people locally who can attempt to prove psycic abilities to others that also believe in them and then form a group to possibly challenge him and go through that process and see what happens from there.

Logic

I really dont see the point in evangelizing psychic abilities, if people dont want to believe it they arent ready or wont believe it at all. Even if someone could prove that psychic abilities exist, then those who would have previously not believed in it would have truly learned nothing themselves. In the end, I think that when people learn or believe something on their own, that it is much more authentic and understood.

Yes, this topic has been discussed more times than I can remember - comes up every few months or so.

and likewise I always like to point out that there is another $1million prize for the group that manages to disprove a set of experiments which were done proving the existance of psychic phenomenon. Cant remember the name of the group right now. But similarly Victor Zammit (whose book should be in the files section on this site) offers $1m for anyone who can rebut his evidence for proof of the afterlife

Randi is a failed stage show magician and his employment in the scientific community is an affront to everything science should stand for
