Opinions needed on psychic power

Just my personal opinion here; I'd "stay in hiding", as you put it...you have already given the reason why :

Unless you can provide concrete evidence for a paranormal talent, rational minded people will not believe you, and denounce you as irrational.

Even if you can prove it - the majority would still refuse to believe !!

There are occasional discussions on the merits of talking about OBE's with friends and family on this board, and unfortunately most like to keep it under their hats....for the same kind of reasons.

Anyway...it appears that you can help others with your abilities...but I'd guess that the best course of action is to keep it in the background for the time being, and discuss it more with your wife, assuring her that you aren't a looney !

Ihave experienced the same reaction from family members who're deeply religious when they found out about my OBE ability.  I truly believe this reaction is rooted in their own fear of the unknown.

I mean let's face it....they only THINK this stuff is of the devil because of what they believe and what they've been taught.  NOT from what they have experienced.

John, we are all on our own spiritual journey.  I would say "follow your heart and do what's right for YOU and your spiritual path."

This obviously isn't the path for your wife, so in that respect, in order to patch any chasms in your marriage, I would cease to mention these things with her.  When dealing with a religious person, you will hardly ever find a compromise.  E.g. "Ok, you can continue to do those things but don't tell me about it."  

They are very rooted in their belief systems, unfortunately, and there isn't much you can do except continue developing your gift in secret.

Again, I say go with your heart.  After I made the mistake of telling the wrong (religious) people about my gifts, I was chastised for dabbling in the works of the devil.  However, I knew in my heart of hearts that I couldn't just STOP what I was doing.  I had to push forward in order to answer my own spiritual questions.

So I simply stopped mentioning my practices around these people.  To this day, their reaction has scarred me, so much that I haven't even mentioned this stuff to my own wife who I've been with for over 4 years!

I know this is a touchy subject, but again, you do what's right for YOU.  In my opinion, you are not using this gift for anything malicious.  You are not harming anybody.  And what people don't know won't hurt them, so just follow your heart and you will never go wrong.

i think, perhaps you should sit down with your wife and talk about it.

(i find it very amazing that you kept that a secret from your wife for so long. i know that if i were to marry someone i would want to let them know of a number of things i usually keep secret.)

however, it seems that she holds the views of a typical christian: narrowminded dogmatic conformism. it is very sad, and even sadder that the entire church thinks the same thing.

obviously this is not going to be easy, and there is a high possibility that it's going to hurt your relationship regardless of what you do. but if i were in your shoes, i'd try and keep that which means most to me (which for me would almost definately be the marriage).

I think you already knew what we would say before you asked the question, and wanted to read it anyways, to give you the motivation to do what you wanted to do, psychic things. Thats what astralpulse is about. You couldnt have expected a negative response.

Most people fear what they dont understand. That includes your wife and church. You do understand it, so you are a superior source of info about it. Listen to yourself, not them.

Welcome and I am so sorry to hear this.  Something I try to live by is this statement:

God created you to be uniquely you.  You were born with God Given Gifts which you can choose to do with whatever you desire.  If you live according to the vicarious wishes of another, you are not only denying yourelf true happiness, but you are cheating the rest of us of the gift of your grace.  

If you were born with or acquired the gift of prophesy, who is the church or your wife to say it is the work of the devil...  By the way, what ecactly is the devil??? I think the jury is still out on that one.  

God loves you for you, UNCONDITIONALLY in all of your splendour and has bestowed upon you all of your unique talents and gifts.  God made you perfect the way you are and no person can take that away from you.  I am sorry that you are in a situation where you feel bound and caged because of your amazing gift.  

Here's a suggestion... look into all the crimes against humanity that have been supported by the church: include the Crusades, the Witch trials, the abolition of non-christian peoples (native americans for example) and other ethnic cleansing and you determine whether the church is acting in accordance with Gods will or the will of some other entity (perhaps their own power & pocket books?)  Might it be the case that the church uses its power to dominate others and oppress them using the word God to make people act according to the dictates of their agendas?  If they place in you the fear that God will no longer love you, what greater threat can they make?  You will then feel that you have been forsaken by God and he will cease to love you.  When we feel we are not loved by even God, then we believe we will cease to exist or have a meaningless existence.  

I think you need to take some time and really think about this.  I don't know what the religious demographic is of where you live, but like so many on these boards, you sound like you live in the bible belt, just by the way that you seem to express that everyone believes that you are doing the work of the devil.  

I commend you for posting.  Hopefully, this will give you a broader perspective of your options and you will be able to see your situation from a slightly broader perspective.

I'am new to ASTRAL PULSE, Iam the 37 year old "remote Viewer from Indiana working on the Dru Sjodin case. I would like to ask my fellow psychic friends a question. My wife of 17 years just found out about my "gift" and she is horrified. She says it's from a demon inside me. She says I should pray to GOD for forgiveness and never use it again.The church is also upset about it.I have been finding lost missing people,keys,wathches,jewelery, pagers ect for years.I make very startling predictions about future events all the time but have never told anyone about them for fear of ridicule. Should I denounce this gift or try to keep using it to help people?
