Any ideas on what this was?

Wow, kids have the most amazing dreams - - - my daughter has had some doozies!  Fairies, angels - - with names even, and she could describe them down to their clothes and remember what they said.

HM....a purple blob "eating" her foot?  It didn't seem too evil; otherwise your daughter would have freaked out, don't you think?  It might have simply been a "generic purple entity" - - I just made that up - - - visiting, giving her a taste and moving on.  I'd only worry if she had another dream and it was still there. If that happens, you might want to teach her how to use her will (and some creativity) to detach objects, whether in a dream state or even while awake.  

For instance, in dreamspace she could spray the entity with anti-purple-blob-spray (keep an empty spray can by her bed to help her remember, label it "purple blob spray").  Or, you could design an elaborate footwashing ritual for her to do while awake!  Sounds silly, but it works!

The purple thing wasn't a dream...yikes!  This morning she was telling me about a dream she had..sorry I didn't make myself clear.

She is only 9yrs.(this happened to her atleast a year and a half ago) and I am not going to make her think in anyway that she should be scared..[]  I feel if she thinks she should be scared then it will become some menacing blob..[]

It has made me think about how when I was a kid, I use to play with these little bug like creatures at night on the floor next to my bed.. I would ask them to change colors and they would. [] Use to keep my mind off my screaming parents in the next room.. NOoooooo
hubby and I don't yell..LOL...infact they are quite the spoiled ones! oh, but I LOVE 'em [:X]

I have decided to surround them in some nice, comfy, protecting white light though...every night for now on...just in case.[]

About your daughter...WOW..I wouldn't dismiss it as "dreams" you never know..kids are so open to this kind of stuff, I think it's great!

Nay, you have to see the movie "Totoro!"  Japanese animation, by the same animator as who did "Spirited Away."  

OK - - - I get now it wasn't a sleeping dream. I call these "waking dreams" or "dreaming awake."   (I've seen some weird things while dreaming awake, and try not to screw myself up trying to fit events into normal reality because I'd just drive myself crazy!)

I had posted in another forum called "getting frustrated" and mentioned a dream my daughter had this morning, so when we were at dinner the conversation revolved around dreams, nightmares and weird things in general.. My son then said to my daughter.."tell her about that thing eating your foot"

Ok...this got my attention!  I asked her to explain..
"what did it look like"?
"it was purple"
"Was it see thru purple or solid purple"?
"it was kind of solid..but it looked like how when you get right up to the T.V. and you see all those little dots"
"you said it was eating your foot..it had a mouth"?
"yes and eyes"
"how big was it..the size of my hand"?
"yeah, kinda looked like one of those ghost things on Pac Man"
"where were you, in bed at night"?
"Yeah, was just laying there looking at my feet"
"were you scared"?
"no..I started talking to it"
"did it say anything back"?
she laughed.."no, but I sat up and tried to touch it and my hand went right thu it"
"Wow..cool.. did it disappear while you were looking at it"?
"nope"
"well, what happen then"?
"nothing, I got bored with it and went to sleep"

And that was that!  I was excited and she was bored!...LOL..kids are so awesome []

soooo any ideas?  I have no ideas but thought it was a really neat thing and I needed to tell someone!
